Jeffrey Bartell's End of the World Theory

  • Author:
  • Updated date:

About the movie "End of the Harvest," and the end of the world theory of a fictional character named Jeffery Bartell.

Who is Jeffrey Bartell?

Jeffrey Bartell is a character in the movie, "End of the Harvest." It is a fictional movie by Rich Christiano films. It was a very engaging movie that will keep your mind thinking if the theory about the end of the world is true.

In this movie, a man named Matt (David A.R. White) was studying Bartell's End of the Word theory. Jeffrey Bartell was a college student who wrote a thesis in 1949 about the End of the world.

After watching the movie, I wonder if there was really a Jeffrey Bartell. I was curious if he wrote that thesis about the end of the world in 1949, because he was inspired by the nation of Israel being reborn and its people returning to their native land.

I started to searched the internet hoping to find Jeffrey Bartell's theory. I came across a website with the real Jeffrey Bartell - he was not the one who wrote the theory in 1949, that Bartell is fictional. This Jeffrey Bartell is a friend of Rich Christiano ( the film maker); I learned from his website that they've been using this theory in their Bible studies. Rich Christiano was planning to make a movie regarding this theory, and "End of the Harvest" was made.

I was fascinated with the movie and the theory of Jeffrey Bartell about the end of the world. There was a lot of Biblical discussion on this matter. It made me think of my life and the life to come in eternity. I believe that after this life, I would face eternity. Those who believe in the Lord Jesus as Savior, will enjoy living with him forever.

We've been in the last days since Jesus came. You hear of wars and rumors of wars. There's a lot of calamities around the world. There's that corona virus that paralyzed the whole world. We might be in the last of the last days.

Jeffrey Bartell's Theory in the movie, "End of the Harvest"

Below is Matt's explanation of Bartell theory in the movie:

Jeffrey Bartell was a college student who wrote a thesis in 1949 about his theory on the End of the world. Bartell theory was based in Isaiah 46 - "God declares the end from the beginning. This leads Bartell to the book of Genesis and the Creation Story. Why God created the world in 6 days and rested the 7th day, when He could just say the word and everything will be created. To Bartell the 7 days of creation has its meaning and significance. The old testament is full of foreshadowing of the future events that will happen, like Abraham was going to offer his son Isaac, was the picture of God sending His Son, Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. The Bible says that a day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is one day. The 6 days of creation means 6,000 years the time men would have on this earth; and the millennial reign of Christ is the 7th day where God rested." As Matt said in the movie - "So it made sense to Bartell that God would set up a seven thousand year period for man to occupy the earth; with the last thousand years being a time of rest when Jesus comes back to set up His earthly kingdom, as spoken in Revelation 20." Israel has a big part in this theory, Hosea chapter 6 talks about Israel, God's chosen nation who was always rejecting God. The nation was going to be torn apart...when Jesus came, Israel rejected Him as their Messiah, so God scattered the nation of Israel all over the world. For 1900 years there was no nation of Israel, but God said after two days, or 2 thousand years, I will revive thee and you, Israel, will live in my sight. The scattered Israel became a nation again in 1948."

Are we nearing the end? Is Christ coming might be in this generation? If Christ will come today, are you ready to face Him? Have you thought of life after death?

You can learn about this theory by watching "End of the Harvest."

The real Jeffrey Bartell is a friend of Rich Christiano, they used his name in the movie, "End of the Harvest." Here are some comments on Mr. Bartell's site.

"I like Rachel have stumbled upon your blog because I was looking to verify if a college student with your name really wrote a thesis in 1949 analyzing when the world would end. How did an idea at a BIBLE study become the central theme in a movie? Thank you."

"No, Katherine, the film was fiction. The filmmaker is a friend of mine and he used my name. The Bible does support the thesis presented in the film about 7 days being associated with 7000 years of human history, and the strong possibility that the Lord will return sometime around the year 2000. Obviously, we don't know the exact timing of His return. Our Bible study on this subject many years ago inspired Rich (the filmmaker) to write a script which would allow him to get this information out."

I realized that there are people like me who are very interested in knowing if there is a Jeffrey Bartell and if the end of the world theory is true.

Updated 2/16/2020 - I could not find Jeffrey Bartell's website anymore. It must be taken down.

I was fascinated and deeply touched about about this film. I was also curious if there were a Jeffery Bartell. The actor were astounding, specially about "one of my Christian heroes" , I like to call him, David A.R. White , the way he has handled the situation, whit so much passion, and "fire" . He was so calm during the interrogation from those atheist and the lovely lady "Bartell's wife" . Mr Christiano, thank you for all these films with Christian messages, They have been of a great blessing for me. I have been showing this films in the prisons I minister to, and this people have been blessed as well. The Lord bless you richly and to all the Christian actors He uses to deliver His WORD. For Chrsit and to His services. Frank Scorcega.

I came to similar conclusions in 1975 from studying the Bible . After thinking about my theory for 40 years, I wrote a 21 page paper on the issue. I gave that to a friend at church for his thoughts. He suggested I check out Jeffery Bartell, who I had never heard of. I had not tied the Hoses passage in to my theory but will consider that also. I have never seen the End of the Harvest but plan to look it up. I believe the Lord will return by about 2035 when I am 80. I hope to be like Simeon and see the Massiah in my lifetime. Either way I am looking for his return. Thanks for the info.

I've really been touched by this movie. Could you please help me find the book? I'm desperate.

J. Arthur on February 14, 2016:

thanks, very helpful info for me. I'm now--well, for the last decade--writing a 'study' that goes far beyond 'Bartell's thesis', (the 1st part finished and now available free at but I was missing Is 46 and some of the "'2-3", "6" and"'7' hints" from God about His 7000-year plan. There are many more "hints", or just deductions, in my study, btw. I mean more than enough where you won't have to say "I don't know" anymore, not that you'll get more than a "few" at best to listen long enough...

And btw, homeschooled my kids end of last century on Abeka Books; they're the best.

thanks again. God bless, God Speed.

Great article. I saw the movie and also was very interested in learning more on that theory. I found out there are a lot more passages in the bible "confirming" Bartell's theory, like the 'good samaritan' parable.

John D on December 17, 2014:

What if this was right but the starting time was off. 7,000 years start time may have begun at the fall of man. Lets say Adam was 32, 33 years

of age and Jesus was also the same age when he died for us. That would indicate the end or the beginning would be between 2026 - 2034. Something to think about. The main thing is to put our faith and trust in Jesus no matter when our hour comes.

@Lensmaster...More interesting "End" theories! What is most interesting about these theories, I think, is that each theory comes from a different viewpoint of the world and the Bible. Hmmm...Thought-provoking, at the very least!

A very interesting article and theory. I have heard the one day = 1000 years from several sources. One was Hal Lindsay in "The Late Great Planet Earth." I guess we'll know pretty soon if they are correct or not.

This is definitely interesting. I've never heard of Bartell's theory. I suppose any theory can present itself in good light, and I would say that seeking knowledge and doing research is a fundamental aspect to the establishment of one's personal belief system. It sounds like you are an avid seeker of the Lord and truth, which is highly commendable. Blessings. (...And thank you for visiting me!)
