We Go To God Only When We Need Him

A lot of times we tend to only go to God only when we need Him. If you are one of these people you need to know that God Is NOT your sugar daddy.

Sometimes we wonder why God isn't answering our prayers. You have become so discouraged thinking that the Lord has forgotten all about you. Have you ever stopped to think that maybe it is something that we are doing wrong, and this is why our prayers aren't being answered as we think that they should be?

We blame God, we blame the Devil but have we ever once stopped to look at the fact that it may be us that is preventing these prayers from being answered?

There are times in our life when carelessness, foolishness, and our own stupidity have broken things. Do you have broken pledges, vows and/or promises? Have you broken God's Word?

Sometimes we can cause a curse by the very words that come out of our mouth. For example; you are praying for your children but then you are yelling at them telling them how bad they are, you are speaking a curse over their lives, by the very words that come out of your mouth. I too am guilty of doing this myself.

You can't expect God to bless or reverse a curse until you remove the curse of your own tongue, by watching what you speak into life.

Sin separates us from God. This is another reason why our prayers aren't being answered.

What about your motivation? When you pray is it for selfish reasons? Do you only see you in this prayer request and the things you need or want? Rather in what God wants and knows what is best. We must examine our motives when we pray.

The Lord Wants To

answer our prayers

He wants to answer all of your prayers. He wants a personal relationship with you. But if it is all about me, meaning you only go to Him when you are in trouble, or want something. This isn't being personal with our Lord.

It is being selfish and the Lord wants obedience and to be put first. Strive to live in obedience and to want His will above all, and if you start putting Him first and living right, good things will follow.

I guarantee you that the windows of heaven will open up to you and you will start seeing prayers answered in the best way possible because the Lord knows what He is doing.

Jesus already knows the problem.

At Bethesda Pool was a man who had been sick for 38 years. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been sick for a long time, He said to him: "Do you want to get well?" "Sir," the invalid replied, "I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me" (Jn 5:6-7).

Christ knew what the man was going to say, but He still asked him if he wished to be cured. Christ did not ask him because He did not know the answer.

Christ wanted to give the paralytic an opportunity to tell of his personal and tragic disaster, He is personal with us when we let Him be. How did the paralytic respond to Jesus' question?

We notice that he did not take the question the wrong way, he did not become angry, he did not say in reply, "You see that I am paralyzed, and you know how long I have been sick. So why do you ask me if I wish to get well?" "Did you come to make fun of my misfortune and to ridicule my troubles?" Instead he replied:

"Sir, I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred." See how many troubles this man had - he was sick, he was poor, and he didn't have anyone to stand by his side.

Our Job

is to be patient

As for ourselves, after we pray once to God for some favor or another, and then fail to get it, we become troubled and bothered and upset. Or we decide to stop praying as often because we lose Faith.

Do you see the Great Physician's wisdom? Do you see His concern? Not only did He free the man from his ailment at the time he was cured, but He also dealt with his sins.

Jesus is able to heal. He is more than able to heal body and soul. He is almighty God. He is able to do anything. But, as I already said, there is also a message here about us.

It is our job to be patient like the paralytic. It is our calling to wait upon the Lord - His will, His time, His plan for our lives.

We need to get right with God and make Him personal by being obedient and stop going to Him as though He is our sugar daddy, because He isn't and He deserves the respect and honor that should be given to Him.

Prayer

Father, we thank You that we are guided, not in our own strength or wisdom, but in the knowledge and wisdom of our omniscient God. It is not by might, nor by power, but by Your Spirit that we can stand against the tactics of the enemy, as we build our foundation of faith, one brick at a time. Like Nehemiah, may our first impulse be that of prayer, and our second impulse be that of obedience. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

I agree wholeheartedly. Of course, there are times I desperately want God to be my sugardaddy. That's usually when my car breaks down or my kids' tuition is due.

This is a very good point and a funny way of putting it!

I think this is something which needs to be remembered. A few times I've seen people who...frankly had easy lives, complain a great deal and blame God for problems which they created and were unwilling to rectify. I feel compassion for them...but we often forget, compared to many people in Biblical times, and many people in the world now...we are more then rich.

What brought me to this site was the Title alone. There was no image. You chose your words very well on this one.

I really like your lens title! It caught my attention right away. Very clever and your lens is right on point with how we sometimes approach God. Bless you for writing this. I also liked your images. The one of the waterfall is very soothing. :)
