☆҉‿ I love the quotes of Dalai Lama and found out recently, that it’s not the name of a person, but a special title. Example: Pope’s have titles.

The current Dalai Lama (in the photo above and below) is the14th Dalai Lama. His name is Tenzin Gyatso – from Tibet. He is also referred to as “His Holiness.

The name Dai Lama is a mixture of the Sino-Mongolian word dalai that means "Ocean" and aTibetan word bla-ma, that means "guru teacher" They are Spiritual leaders who enlighten others and I am always so amazed at the depth of Wisdom in Dai Lama Quotes.

.

A few more are below:

  • "Our prime purpose in this life is to help others and if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them."
  • "I have always had this view about the modern education system: we pay attention to brain development, but the development of warm heartedness we take for granted."
  • "Affection is important because it counters anger, hatred and suspicion that can prevent our minds from functioning clearly."
  • "One way to ensure everyone’s peace and happiness is to cultivate a healthy respect for the diversity of other people and cultures."
  • "Peace in the world relies on individuals finding inner peace."
  • (Also, read the Paradox above).

Great thoughts but, these are not the words of a Dalai Lama. Instead they were written by Dr. Bob Moorehead in a book of essays titled "Words Aptly Spoken."

Dali Lama: His words are incredibly wise. I do agree with you that people like him would make great leaders. His words are true and timeless.

Hello Stessily, I wish people like him could be Presidents. What a beautiful privilege for you to have met him. I appreciate you stopping by.

(sorry didn't respond on time)

God Bless.

Lady E: This current Dalai Lama has his home throughout the world through his ability to speak in ways which are completely real and understandable to all who hear him. Interestingly, everything which he says has a basis in Buddhist texts; for those in the know, his ability to distill incredibly complex concepts into everyday language is nothing short of astounding. I have had the privilege to be in his presence and to know those close to him; he is a force for great goodness in the world, and I feel blessed to live at the same time on this planet as Tenzin Gyatso.

Thank you for highlighting his wonderful words.

@gmaoli

Thanks Gmaoli - Thanks for sharing. Interesting to know you studied a bit of Buddhism. It seems a very peaceful religion. More peaceful than________ If I fill in the word, someone might flag this. lol. Anyway, I'm glad you stopped by.

Gianandrea Maoli from South Carolina on November 05, 2012:

I studied a little about the teachings of Buddhism and found that a couple of prominent themes of their teachings is: be at peace with yourself and be connected with the people. These quotes seem to encompass all of that. I'm especially fond of the primary purpose being to help others and if you can't then at least don't hurt them. These are good thoughts to share with others and I thank you for doing so. Sharing!

Interesting thoughts on Dalai Lama. I agree that we must learn to love ourselves before we can begin to love others, even God.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on November 02, 2012:

This man spends his day and night seeking. I am always amazed at what he finds. I do not know if it is a lineage or the appointment of lineage. It matters not. His words are always welcome and taken directly through the Chakra into my heart.

One of the great books of the bible seem to be dismissed. Wisdom. I think that one of the links to himself helped to write it.
