Vivian uses a common sense approach to explore the social issues of today.
Whether you or for or against homosexuality, you undoubtedly have a very strong opinion about the subject.
Those who support the LGBTQ community point angry fingers at those who refuse to condone it, branding them as judgmental, hateful people. Christians and conservatives believe homosexuality is a sin, and budging on the issue would compromise their religious values.
The crux of the matter is this: Christians do not hate homosexuals, even though LGBTQ advocates try to make it personal. Rather, Christ-followers are trying to obey the Biblical blueprint for living, which includes resisting all sins common to mankind.
Persecution Resulting From Different Opinions
In your grandma’s day, gay people kept their lifestyle a guarded secret. Celebrity hunks like Rock Hudson followed convention and married. Flamboyant men were called “sissies” and burly girls were just “Tom boys.”
Homosexuality was kept in the closet because admitting to it would have led to job losses, black eyes, disgrace, and public persecution. It was a socially unacceptable practice.
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation was formed in 1985, later becoming GLAAD, in defense of the physical and emotional abuse of gays. This organization boasts being the “forefront of cultural change, accelerating acceptance for the LGBTQ community.”
According to Christians and conservatives, the pendulum has now swung too far in the other direction.
Instead of ensuring homosexuals aren’t treated as sub-human, as President Trump has done by confronting the United Nations on curtailing countries that still criminalize and punish gays, LGBTQ groups have developed a militant agenda. Their aim is to force people who don’t approve of this lifestyle to suffer the consequences of following their collective conscience or religious beliefs.
In Austin, Texas, the school board moved to incorporate radical LGBT curriculum into their sex-ed program, which normalizes gay “acts” and eliminates “mom” and “dad” from school terminology. Parents were outraged at the attack on their family’s religious values, and many cited the new curriculum stigmatizes traditional marriage.
In a growing trend across the nation, schools are adopting curriculums that encourage students to attend gay pride parades and celebrations and host “coming out” assemblies in their schools. Transgenders are welcomed into kindergarten classrooms, and teachers are instructed to refer to students as “friends” instead of “boys” and “girls.” This is a blatant form of indoctrination. Schools are grossly overstepping their boundaries in response to LGBT pressure by introducing concepts that are in direct opposition to the faith and values being taught in the home.
Many progressive states, like New York, have passed laws to punish those who refuse to call LGBT people by their desired pronouns. Dr. David Mackereth and teacher, Peter Vlaming, are just two people who were fired for adhering to their religious beliefs by refusing to call people newly concocted pronouns, but they aren’t alone.
Instead of eliminating persecution for one’s beliefs about sexuality, the tables have merely turned.
Gay Militants Target Conservatives
“Inclusivity” is the new word which means, take your values and stuff them.
Chick-fil-a’s founder, S. Truett Cathy, is a Christian who stated his belief that marriage is between a man and a woman, based on his religious principles. Cathy did not attack or actively seek to destroy homosexuals or the LGBT, nor did his company discriminate against them, but militant gays accused him of doing just that because of his charitable contributions to the Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. A full-blown attack was launched against Chick-fil-a for having a differing opinion than mainstream culture, and conservatives and Christians rallied to support this fast-food chain icon for his courage in refusing to capitulate to the angry mob.
Chick-fil-a was banned from some airports, progressive cities, and universities. In the U.K., the maelstrom of hate unleashed on Chick-fil-a by vicious, gay militants was so intense, the food chain was overwhelmed and retreated from establishing a location in Reading. One British activist stated, “You will not be opening anywhere else in the U.K., and if we do see you on our soil, we will stand up and we will challenge you again.”
Instead of refusing to be bullied, Chick-fil-a president, Tim Tassopoulos, caved under the pressure and agreed to halt the company’s donations to the Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Conservatives and Christians were gutted—another company succumbed to an angry minority.
And they say Christians are intolerant?
The Hallmark Channel is the most recent target of the LGBT. Hallmark is known for its conservative values and family-friendly programming that’s run through a happy filter before airing.
When Hallmark sponsored an ad featuring two lesbians getting married, the outcry from conservative viewers was deafening. Hallmark quickly yanked the ads, only to reinstate them later after issuing a public apology to the minority of gays who were offended. A month later, CEO of 11 years, Bill Abbott, resigned without explanation.
This is the same story line that destroyed the Boy Scouts as we know it.
Organizations like GLAAD claim to fight for inclusion, but they don’t mean it. What they want is to endorse homosexuality in our culture, force people to agree with it, and attack and destroy anyone who doesn’t comply.
Whether you refuse to bake cakes, imprint T-shirts, or provide floral arrangements for gay events that compromise your religious principles, or you make donations to conservative organizations that support biblical principles, the LGBT hounds of hell launch a search and destroy mission against you.
In fact, the LGBT goes out of their way to target conservative groups, organizations, and businesses when they have an abundance of other options. It’s difficult to find a network that doesn’t air LGBT-laced programs or commercials, yet the gays can’t leave Hallmark alone. Most businesses funnel money to a host of charitable organizations, including LGBT ones, but the gays attack the one that doesn’t—Chick-fil-a.
Scores of businesses will cater to gay weddings and events, but LGBT activists prefer forcing Christians to serve them or destroy their life-long businesses through expensive court proceedings.
The Church is another huge obstacle in the way of the LGBT takeover. Under Obama, a growing threat existed to force churches to pastor gay weddings or lose tax-exempt status.
What’s next on the LGBT radar? The Trinity Broadcasting Network?
Imagine dining at a Chinese restaurant and attacking the owner for not serving Italian cuisine. Would you join a book club and then be outraged the group didn’t knit during the meeting time? What if you were a flutist in the orchestra but demanded to sit in the percussion section because you identified as a drummer?
Boundaries exist in reality that separate one thing from another into categories, but the LGBT movement tries to blur all lines.
It’s clear that LGBT groups scope our culture, find conservative targets, and unleash a cultural war on anyone standing in their way of a hostile take-over. This is what angers Christians, and this is why homosexuality becomes a more frequent talking point than other sins.
If your boss told you he was the devil, you might believe him (if he’s a bad manager), but if he told you he was really a Humpback Whale, you would advise his superior he was either having a mental breakdown or was in desperate need of a vacation.
You don’t have to be a person of faith to grasp basic biology—men are men, and women are women. Never in the history of the world has this scientific fact been disputed, until recently.
Someone might identify as something they are not, but that doesn’t make it a reality.
A grocery store janitor might identify as the company’s CEO and dress in a suit every day for work and carry a briefcase, but he still is going to be paged to clean up a spill in aisle seven.
No matter how well-intentioned and accepting you try to be of others, when you reinforce their delusions, you are causing more harm than good.
In fact, until the LGBT unleashed its fury towards the American Psychiatric Association, transgenderism was treated as mental illness. Psychiatrists were trained to help such patients align their feelings with biology, but now they are forced to do the reverse.
The Bible Condemns Homosexuality
Just because Christians reject homosexuality does not mean they hate gays.
The Bible teaches Christ-followers to worship the one, true God, but Christians don’t hate people of other faiths.
In fact, Christians understand they are sinners in need of a Savior, the same as everyone else.
What does the bible say about homosexuality?
The book of Genesis details the creation story. God created male and female, blessed them, and told them to be fruitful and multiply. When God instructed Noah to build the ark, it was filled with male and female animals. God’s perfect design did not include a homosexual component. He didn’t “make anyone that way.” If He had, He would have refrained from instructing them to “multiply,” or have children, because that would have been a moot point.
The story of Sodom and Gomorrah depicts a roving mob of homosexuals who demanded Lot open the door so they could “have their way with” the two angels staying with him, but that’s just part of the depravity—Lot, a righteous man, offered his daughter to the mob, hoping they would leave the angels alone. The angels struck the men with blindness, so they clearly could hold their own. What man sacrifices his daughter like that and forgets angels wield power? A man who has been negatively influenced by the culture in which he lives.
Romans 1:26-27 leaves no room for ambiguity:
For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
Verse 28 of the same chapter continues,
Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.
In other words, anyone who practices homosexuality does it because they want to. They purposefully reject God because they want to revel in sin and pretend there are no boundaries. The Bible doesn’t just call them “sinners,” but refers to them as people with a “depraved mind.” It’s the same depraved mind that convinces itself a person can be a whimsical gender that doesn’t exist biologically.
Jude 1:7 says the people of Sodom and Gommorah gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion and that they continue to suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
Verse 8 continues by saying these ungodly people pollute their own bodies.
I Timothy 1:10 tell us the law is for a host of ungodly behavior, including the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality.
I Corinthians 6:9 says men who have sex with men will not inherit the kingdom of God. This same book explains that we are to honor God with our bodies. All other sins happen outside of our body, but sexual immorality sins against our own bodies.
If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable.
There is no room for argument here. The Bible is clear on the issue of homosexuality. To expect Christians to reject its teaching is an assault on religious liberty.
Christians Accused of Being Judgmental
Non-Christians who cannibalize the Bible to suit their own purposes often quote the story of the woman accused of adultery who was about to be stoned, reminding us how Jesus said, Neither I do condemn you, as if homosexuality should not be judged as wrong by those who disapprove. However, they leave out the rest of Jesus’s sentence—go and sin no more. Jesus kept company with sinners and people whom society rejected, but those who spent time in His presence changed. Never did Jesus encourage sinners to keep wallowing in their sin. Jesus always spoke the truth, and that’s why He was crucified. People today still don’t like to hear the truth. They don’t consider their behavior “sin” because they don’t follow Biblical doctrine, and they metaphorically “crucify” anyone who disagrees.
The same people who opine about Jesus commanding us to love our neighbor as ourselves, don’t grasp that you can love people without approving or endorsing their sinful choices. The Bible says God is not a man that He could lie. He meant what He said about homosexuality no matter how many times gay advocates lament, “love is love!”
Anyone who claims opposing homosexuality goes against Jesus’s teaching is in serious error. If hotel cleaning staff were authorities on subjects like science, technology, engineering, or math, they would use their knowledge to have better careers leading to better lives. Yet, people not versed in sound Biblical doctrine make uniformed statements that lead to death and destruction instead of eternal life.
What happens if you disapprove of your daughter’s boyfriend? Maybe he’s a bad boy with a reputation for using girls or a sloth who hasn’t worked a day in his life. You disapprove of him because you know he will only cause your daughter heartache, yet the more you withhold your approval of the relationship, the more your daughter tries to convince you he’s right for her. No matter how much she rebels against your wise counsel, deep down, it bugs her that you don’t like him.
Are you being judgmental of her boyfriend, or are you loving her by encouraging her towards a better path?
LGBT militants are like the daughter—trying to force people who know better to grant approval so they can feel better about themselves and their wrong choices.
Our Constitution already guarantees citizens the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It’s not necessary for LGBT to aggressively coerce schools to adopt curriculum, change laws to punish those who won’t indulge their fantasies, and consider it hate speech when someone stands on God’s Word.
While there are Christians who find it challenging to separate the sin from the sinner and aren’t shy about showing their disdain, they do so for a reason.
If you are a non-smoker, being around someone smoking makes your nostrils recoil and may even cause you to choke. Even if you don’t smoke, the second-hand stench of cigarette smoke fills your hair and embeds its awful smell in your clothes. Walk past a smoker, and you can easily catch a whiff, even when a cigarette isn’t present. It’s a toxic smell, and the label on the pack even warns users of its cancer-causing powers. Nicotene addicts don’t seem to care enough to quit. They would rather risk death than give up the pleasure of smoking, even as it ages their skin and gives them an unhealthy pallor and persistent cough.
The same principle applies to homosexuality. Those who participate in it refuse to acknowledge they are on a path to spiritual death. They don’t seek the God who made them for help and hope, but continue in a temporal pleasure that taints our entire culture with its toxicity. It’s not enough that they choose to go down this road, they try to force society on the downward spiral with them by shoving an agenda down the throats of those who withhold acceptance.
Would you cheer someone for choosing a life of drug addiction?
Would you applaud the high school drop-out who sells herself on a street corner?
No? Why, then, should Christians be expected to accept and endorse homosexuality? It would be like cheering for people to continue on the path to hell, and Christians would be judged for their complicity.
Why Does God Have Rules?
Life is full of rules. Don’t talk in class. Don’t play in the street. Don’t lie or steal. Don’t cheat on your spouse. No one draws a conclusion that those who expect such rules be followed are a judgmental, mean-spirited people. We accept the rules because they make sense. Rules create order, establish boundaries, and provide measuring sticks for morality and values. Rules keep us safe.
God has rules too. Is it because He’s a big bully on the throne of heaven who’s looking to smash us with a giant flyswatter at every opportunity? It’s because He made us, He loves us, and He knows what is best for us.
If you have kids, you love and protect them. Without boundaries, your kids would play video games for hours and eat junk food for every meal. You forbid it because their well-being is of utmost importance to you. It’s the same reason God has rules. He knows how He designed us, and operating outside of those boundaries puts us in a danger zone. Boats aren’t designed for roadways. Cars aren’t constructed to drive on water. Trains were never meant to fly. Men were not designed to be women, and women weren’t created to be men.
LGBT activists often state, “If God did exist, I wouldn’t want to worship something so hateful.” Others rant, “I’m not religious because Christians are such hypocrites--they soured me on religion.”
The truth is, those who have been given over to a reprobate mind are rationalizing why it’s everyone else’s problem. They are filled with too much pride to acknowledge their sin, ask God for forgiveness, and repent. It’s much easier to dismiss God as “mean” and Christians as “hypocrites” than to change.
Christians Aren’t Homophobic
Vegans don’t eat meat, but they aren’t called beef-o-phobic. Parents who set boundaries for screen time aren’t techno-phobic or even Nintendo-phobic for not allowing their kids to play video games all day. Even people who refuse to go to church are never labeled religion-o-phobic.
Yet, Christians who are abiding by scriptural doctrine, which our country encourages the free exercise thereof, are deemed homophobic because they follow what God says about the subject.
Christians are not afraid of homosexuals. They simply recognize sexual deviance of this nature is subversive to human existence. They don’t want their kids seeing it and becoming desensitized to the magnitude of this societal cancer.
The liberal Left is known for name-calling and has created an arsenal of vicious labels to pulverize anyone who disagrees with them. Don’t want illegal immigrants breaking into our country without permission? You’re a xenophobe. Give a job to a man more qualified instead of the woman who isn’t? You’re a misogynist. Think someone should be a citizen in order to vote? You’re racist. Don’t want your kids being taught socialism in school? You’re a bigot. Believe what the Bible says about sexuality? You’re a homophobe.
Christians are weary of seeing God’s rainbow perverted. They are sickened by Gay Pride Parades, not because they are homophobic, but because it’s appalling to watch a cesspool of people burning in lust, doing abominably immodest and indecent acts in public, as they proudly head over a spiritual cliff. They are a band of lost souls, reveling in their disobedience against God, much like Lucifer as he fell. This isn’t something Christians with any conscience can celebrate.
God Doesn’t Move the Goal Posts
Christians have been following the same Bible for over two thousand years. God hasn’t changed, nor will He.
The liberal progressives, however, keep moving the goal posts on morality, so they are like nomads without sure footing, boundaries, or standards. Their list of gender pronouns keeps growing because they don't recognize absolutes. The more leeway they are given, the more they want. They are never satisfied or appeased. Christians are in their way, and the intolerant Left is waging a cultural war to overcome them so they can follow their own desires without having to see so much as a raised eyebrow over their illicit behavior.
Franklin Graham says it best:
God doesn’t have a political party. But God does have commandments, laws & standards He gives us to live by.
As a Christian, I believe the Bible which defines homosexuality as sin, something to be repentant of, not something to be flaunted, praised or politicized. The Bible says marriage is between a man & a woman—not two men, not two women.
Expecting a Christian to accept homosexuality is like expecting a leopard to change its spots or a Zebra to drop the stripes. Christians don’t need to “enter the 21st century,” as some gay activists taunt.
A relationship with Jesus offers hope to those who struggle with homosexuality or any other sin—God loves His children, and He wants them to find hope in Him by seeking forgiveness, accepting the free gift of salvation, and repenting of their sins. It’s God’s plan for all of us.

I appreciate your supportive comments. You are right to refer to the "militancy" of this movement to bring things out of the closet. If we go along with it and put our stamp of approval on it when we know it goes against God's word, we aren't being "tolerant." We are guilty of being complicit in encouraging these people towards an eternity without God. We have a responsibility to speak the truth, even when it's not popular.
I've heard a few Christian men speak on radio programs, admitting they wrestle with homosexual tendencies, like we all wrestle with different types of sin. However, they abstain, as you mentioned, and refuse to give in to temptation and dishonor the Lord.
The problem is the militant ones among the LGBTQ don't want to label this behavior "sin." They want it endorsed so they can sin freely without stigmatization. They are trying to drag down entire cultures with them too.
You are so right to note there will be judgment and consequences. We don't want that for homosexuals when there's hope for them in Jesus if they would only repent.
Thank you for taking the time to post.
Jack Jenn from Nelson Bay NSW Australia. on March 17, 2020:
So glad you had the courage to tackle this subject and as you rightly said, we don't hate them as they sadly think, it's the sin that we hate. Sin is sin and god says so, so who can say any different or even dare question His words?
There was a time when this behaviour was hidden behind closed doors but now, because of their militancy they are trying to turn more of their kind to rebel against truth and I wouldn't like to be in their shoes on the day when all will be judged.
In Australia not that long ago when the government who didn't have the fortitude to put it down, took the easy way out by putting it to a yes-no public vote. Surprisingly the vote carried and I wonder how many would have changed their mind, now that they have been asserting their authority?? for want of a better word on such an abhorant behaviour.
There used to be a very good add on TV from the cancer council on the dangers of smoking - which depicted a family at meal time but sadly the mother had to be fed through a tube into her stomach and the catch phrase was, you have one clear way of reducing your risk - abstaining.
The same add was also used in alcohol adds and the message was the same - you have one clear way of reducing your risk. . .
This is exactly the same for that community that engages in the sinful behaviour that God hates - and there is a consequence.
If two persons so afflicted wanted to live together, provided that they abstained from the act it wouldn't be considered a sin but I doubt there would be any who could do so.
So the same answer remains for them if they want salvation and it is clear - you have one clear way of reducing your risk - abstention.
That's it full stop.
Best regards Vivian,

Thanks for reading! I tackled this topic because too many people are afraid to address it because you're right--there is typically violent blow-back--even from Christians who should know better! It's alarming that so many Americans have drifted away from the Christian roots/values upon which our nation was founded. We need to sound the alarm and take back our culture!
William Kovacic from Pleasant Gap, PA on February 12, 2020:
Well said and very clear, Vivian. Reading through the comments, I don't see any that object, and that's unusual for this topic. Thank you for bravely sharing.

Keep in mind what Paul wrote that our true enemies are not the LGBTQ community members but the evil behind them. Pray accordingly
Vivian Coblentz (author) on January 30, 2020:
Here's a copy of an e-mail I received from Franklin Graham through the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Note the vicious mob mentality of the LGBTQ--they want to express themselves freely, but they don't want anyone with an opposing viewpoint to have that same freedom!
For the last two years we have been preparing to go to the United Kingdom and take the Gospel to eight different cities starting in Scotland, going down to Wales, and finishing up in London. As we move closer to these events in late May and June, we are experiencing opposition from LGBTQ activists who want to stop this Gospel work.
This small but vocal minority is pressuring venues to back out of our contracts because I have said that God defines homosexuality as sin. Several venues have already told us that they are canceling.
Much prayer and effort has been put into this, and hundreds of churches across the U.K. are partnering in this tour. This is spiritual warfare. The enemy does not want the Gospel proclaimed.
Will you pray with us that God will keep the doors open to preach the Good News across the U.K. this spring? The Bible says “the prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” (James 5:16, ESV). I believe this is a defining moment for the church in the U.K., and Jesus Christ is the only hope for change.
You and I have been called for such a moment as this. Please join me in praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ there, that God will remove obstacles to this Gospel work, and that He will prepare the hearts of people across the nation to hear and respond to His message this spring.
Thank you for standing faithfully for Jesus Christ.
May God richly bless you,

I think the bottom line regarding the Bible is that Eve was created for Adam and their bodies were made to be one. This is not achieved any other way and has a purpose which is procreation.

I very much appreciate everyone's comments, but it feels like a special honor when you respond. You have "celebrity" author status in my book! Yes, we usually agree.....I like that about you, LOL!

All scripture is God inspired. When you know Jesus, spend time in His presence, walk with Him each day, and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life, life's path becomes clear. You know Him and His attributes, and He convicts you of wrong so you can repent. So, the answer to all sin is to reconcile with God. Confess, repent, accept salvation, and God forgives us and cleanses from all unrighteousness. This is the answer for peace, hope, and eternal security--not Yoga. Apart from Jesus, any other "fix" is a band-aid to a much deeper problem.
I totally agree with you about the decriminalization of homosexuality. It's hard to imagine that some Muslim nations throw gays off of buildings! In other countries, they are jailed. This is so wrong! President Trump has been urging the U.N. to put a stop to this.
Thanks for taking the time to post!

The Bible is not like the Koran. It is not considered word of Jesus verbatim. Yet it condemns homosexuality. It mirrors the thinking of the age it was composed. I have not read of a religion that accepts homosexuality. I do not hate homosexuals but I do pity them. They have gone against what nature has ordained. I think its right to de-criminalize homosexuality but people who carry on do need some psychiatric treatment. Others are free to disagree with me. Incidentally, as per Baba Ramdev, there is a cure for homosexuality in Yoga.

I hate no one but the Bible says He created male and female. Thank you for this informative article.
Vivian Coblentz (author) on January 25, 2020:
You are right not to hate! Walking in love is God's way, but any parent knows love sometimes has to be tough, and love tells the truth, even when it's hard to hear. I think Christians are too often judged for being "hateful" just because they speak the truth and refuse to sanction sin. Mistreating anyone for their choices, however, is never okay.
Vivian Coblentz (author) on January 25, 2020:
Thank you for reading--I know it's long and a lot to get through! Yes, everyone has a choice, and no one should be forced into anything. God says He also gives us a choice between life and death, and He urges us to choose life (Deuteronomy 30:14-16), which entails walking in His commandments and in His ways. No one has to obey God, but disobedience leads to destruction.
Vivian Coblentz (author) on January 25, 2020:
Thank you for your kind words. I just felt that due to the controversial nature of the subject, too many people are afraid to address it. It's important because the souls of so many are at stake! Not to mention, it creates a negative ripple effect through our entire culture that leads us down the road to judgment. This life isn't all there is, and these type of choices have eternal consequences. I hope those who struggle with this issue might pause and at least consider a different perspective that could change their future, and eternity, for the better.
MG Singh emge from Singapore on January 25, 2020:
A very interesting expose and well presented. There are strong opinions on homosexuality, both for and against. But one fact that emerges from all the religious books and to a sane man is that Homosexuality is NOT Criminal but it's NOT natural. That's my view and it does not make me hate people who profess this facet of life.
Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on January 25, 2020:
You certainly very thoroughly wrote about a very controversial topic. I knew what the Bible said and you have spelled it all out in a very thoughtful way.The division in our country over topics such as this is at an all time high.
I don't think someoe should be forced to bake a cake if it goes against their beliefs. Everyone has a right to choose their lifestyle and their religious beliefs. I choose to walk in love and honor God.
The Logician from then to now on on January 24, 2020:
Vivian, you deserve high praise for tackling such a controversial topic and with the proper perspective. It is ironic how the proper perspective to one is from love while to another it is viewed as hate. Both can’t be right. The one that holds your eternal life precious always comes from love.
