Who We Are #7

Over three decades ago I become interested in the Bible, having drank from the heavenly cup once, I have not been tired to drink more

Previously, I made mention of some characteristics of gods. I said they are influencers, and that they have associated spirit which will first come on their ardent followers or believers before they start operating and manifesting in the power of the god.

In this article I shall continue with the characteristics of the gods.

4. "gods” can christen things/animals/humans"

“gods” are beings that can name things or animals or man like Adam did in the garden of Eden.

Gen 2:19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

We can see in the book of Jeremiah that the prophet under the influence of the Spirit of Yahweh changed a priest name because he has not done what was right.

Jer 20:3 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magormissabib.

5. A “god” Wields Great Power and Ought to Be Feared:

Anyone or anything called “god” weilds great power. The power which those “gods” demonstrate make people fear them.

We shall recall that Nebuchadnezzar was once the strongest man in the ancient world because he has conquered nations and kingdoms, bringing them to their knees as they became his subjects.

Having conquered the whole world, he wakes up one day and decides that he needs to appreciate the gods which have made him god over the nations and kingdoms of the world by carving out a big golden statue in the figure of the gods.

Dan 3:1 Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

This golden statue was very high and the height is estimated to be about 19 storeys' building if compared to the present day's height.

You can imagine the height of the statue. Little wonder he declares that when the people hear the voice of the music they should face the direction of the statue bow to worship the statue.

Imagine also the kind of musicians and the instruments of music he must have put together.

Nebuchadnezzar thought that the great power that the gods have which made them deliver all kingdoms of the world to him, including the Israelis who claimed to have original God for and with them, yet this original God cannot save them from his gods, this god needs to be referenced, he needs to introduce his gods to all that they need to be worshiping her, they need to fear her.

Read Isaiah 37:12 ff for more.

I will continue with my exegesis in the next. article
