Who We Are #6

Over three decades ago I become interested in the Bible, having drank from the heavenly cup once, I have not been tired to drink more

Previously, I talked about believers status and what has been ordained for us to be. To really understand this, therefore I started to discuss some of the characteristics of a "god" that I know about in this part of the world. I want to continue with the characters of "gods" in this article.

2) Influencer

"gods" are beings who have ability to affect beliefs or actions of their followers either positively or negatively. To buttress this, let us see an account in the book of 2 Kings 4:42-44

2 Kings 4:42-44
[42]Another time, a man came from Baal Shalishah, bringing Elisha twenty loaves of bread made from the first barley harvested that year, and some freshly-cut ears of corn. Elisha told his servant to feed the group of prophets with this,
[43]but he answered, “Do you think this is enough for a hundred men?”Elisha replied, “Give it to them to eat, because the Lord says that they will eat and still have some left over.”
[44]So the servant set the food before them, and, as the Lord had said, they all ate and there was still some left over.

In this account we shall see that prophet Elisha had great influence on his followers, the sons of the prophet. They were gathered before him perhaps listening to his teachings and had been there for a while without food.

He notices that they were hungry and had to suspend his teachings because he knows that a hungry man is an angry man, a hungry man can barely understand what his teacher is saying.

While suspending his teachings, and was about to instruct them to go and eat, a man brought to him his first fruits of the year. After receiving this he commands his servant to start serving the sons of the prophet.

One of them however points their master to an important point which he thinks he may have missed while instructing them. What he says was that the foods brought will not be enough to go round, and this may result in another thing.

In response to the objection raised prophet Elisha said the son of the prophet should go ahead and serve everyone because the food would be enough and there would be left over.

By his words, he influenced his followers beliefs which is what gods do.

3) A "god" Has Spirit Associated With it

By these phrases it means that the person would have done something contrary to what he or she has done, assuming the person has not been influenced. The person who influenced him has contributed to what he or she is passing through.

Those who are familiar with the words of the Bible will recall what was stated by Jesus in the book of Acts 1:8a that, "ye shall receive Power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you..."

A person who has not received the spirit of gods cannot manifest the powers of the gods.

It is the spirit of a god that will first enter a person's life before the person will begin to manifest the power of that god. (Numb. 11:16-30)

People say of Elisha after he has received the power of Elijah that the spirit of Elijah has rested on him.

2Ki 2:15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

After this incident prophet Elisha became another person and he starts walking and working in the power of the supernatural because the spirit of God has entered his life.

Any of the gods all over the world has a kind of spirit associated with it which is released on those people who are staunch believers in him so that they shall be operating in the power of that god unto people.
