Introduction

I have in the first article written about the author of this chapter of the book of Psalms and have shown in the work that the author wants all, especially believers, to know that we occupy the position of God on earth and the position is judging rightly.

I will continue on my exegesis of the book here, talking about some points on the need for putting them in remembrance, yea those of us who are spiritual Israelites today.

1) Bad or Negative Period

Some of the negative experiences that we all at a time or another pass through in life are these:

i) Debt: When we are in serious debts and it seems as if there is no way for us, we can forget who we are in the Lord and even in the world. Consider the case of the widow the wife of one of the sons of the prophet, she forgets her position, she shelves her position because her life is at stake her future is at stake and her future was the future of her children which the creditors have been threatening that they will come for and take away any moment from then if she cannot repay the money she owed them.

The bible says she “cried” which shows a position of distress to the woman, a respectable woman in the society.

Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.” (2 Ki 4:1)

When we are in debt we forget what we are and what we may have become especially when the debtor is at our necks.

ii) Troubles/Affliction: David when he was passing through troubles, when he was being pursued by King Saul, he forgot whom he was or what he has been anointed to be temporarily and what he was striving for is ensuring that his life is preserved because it a person whose life is preserved who can become the king in the future. Temporarily, he forgets what he was, his family, the wealth, and his initial job.

Jesus Christ the savoir of the world when he was passing through the affliction period he momentarily forgets his position what he was in the world for and asks that the cup be taken off him but later reverses to say God’s will be done.

2) Good Period

As bad moments could make us forget momentarily who we are so can good periods. Let us see one of the good experiences here.

i) Affluence: There have been histories of people who after things changed for them and they were able to achieve all that their heart yearned and thirsty after forgot who they were. An example of such was King Nebuchadnezzar. When things changed for him and he became the ruler of the whole world, he momentarily forgot whom he was and was equating himself to God.

At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.

The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?” (Dan 4:29-30)

Because this powerful King and the ruler of the whole earth failed to acknowledge the rulership of God, he failed to see God as the controller of things in the world he was rebuked by God, sent from the palace to show God is the controller of the whole earth.

In the next article I shall be talking on another point on how good influence could affect us and we miss it, not remembering who we are, after which I will show us another point in the verse which some of us may be missing, thence missing who we are in Christ and His God.

However, on the interim, I will continue with other posts and new series as being helped by God.

Though it is not easy typing and publishing with Android phone...

Thanks. Continue to stay safe, because your safety is paramount to the world's growth and development.
