What Is This Having Hope You Speak Of?

In times like this, it feels impossible to maintain any sense of hopefulness about the future. Not only is it a challenge to imagine any future in a world where things are constantly changing, but it’s especially tough to think of a future in which things are actually somewhat positive.

But as uncomfortable as it may feel, pushing ourselves to imagine that better future may be a crucial way for us to maintain some semblance of mental well-being—which feels more important than ever.

In general, having hope is having an expectation that something good will happen in the future or that something bad won’t happen. You can think about hope in different ways: You can feel it as an emotion, or use it as one way to motivate yourself to action, or as part of a coping mechanism that gets you through some form of loss.

It’s completely normal to have trouble being optimistic, even in the best of circumstances. But now it’s even more of a challenge. So why bother trying to be hopeful when things are so overwhelmingly bad?

Basically, so we don’t feel so miserable and afraid about the things that we face in life that are inevitably going to come around from time to time.

If we can face them with a sense that there’s something we can do about them, life becomes easier to live.

JOB 14:7-9
“Indeed there is hope for a tree. If it’s cut down and still sprouting and its shoots don’t fail, if its roots age in the ground and its stump die in the dust, at the scent of water, it will bud and produce sprouts like a plant.”

Maintaining Hope in the Face of Uncertainty

There’s a lot going on in today’s world. People are still getting sick, natural disasters are repeatedly hitting, and acts of racism are in the news nearly every day. All of these things can have direct impacts on our lives, and it’s easy to feel like we’re always waiting for “the next bad thing” to happen. This dread and anxiety can be overwhelming and make everything seem hopeless.

When we find ourselves in difficult circumstances, it usually takes a while for things to settle back down to what we’re used to. It can be tough to shake the feeling that this is all temporary, but accepting our new normal and adapting to it is the best way to take back some control when it feels like so many things are up in the air.

It’s completely normal to be discouraged by everything going on. If you’re grieving, anxious, overwhelmed, or feeling paralyzed, that’s okay. Give yourself the time to process those feelings and remind yourself that there is always hope for better days. If you’re having a hard time finding hope.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

1. What are you hopeful for?

We all want to feel hope, but what does that mean to you? Identifying what specifically you want to see change can help you feel more empowered to do something about it, which often brings hope.

2. Remind yourself that this isn’t forever

When life gets hard, it can be easy to forget that things will get better eventually. It may not happen as quickly as you’d like, but look at the history: past outbreaks have been contained. This doesn’t mean that current events won’t cause destruction but they will stop or become better controlled eventually.

3. Turn to faith and spirituality

We can always find hope in our faith. This gives us a greater sense of purpose and is helpful to lean on during tough times. Look to your faith’s teachings for some peace and optimism.

4. Keep up with basic self-care

It can be tough to find hope in times like this, but it’s especially hard if you aren’t taking care of yourself. Make sure you’re eating well, staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, and moving your body regularly.

1 PETER 1:13
“Therefore, once you have your minds ready for action and you are thinking clearly, place your hope completely on the grace that will be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed.”

Finding Hope in Hard Times

Are you searching for hope? It may seem hard to find. The world is full of uncertainty, doubt, pain, and sorrow. This is how life gets us down. But the Bible promises there’s much more to life than what we see on this earth. There’s a lasting hope and you can find it

You can’t see God, but He sees you and loves you. He created you, and He wants you to make Him the most important part of your life. He promises that if you believe in His Son, Jesus Christ, you can be with Him for eternity.

You can have hope for an eternity without pain, despair, sadness, or death. Don’t let the feeling of hopelessness continue.

God loves you so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for your sins. If you believe in Him, turn from your sins, and accept Jesus as Lord, you will live forever with Him in heaven and discover the hope that can never be taken away.

Do you want to find hope? Then accept Christ into your life today. Keep reading.

Step 1 – God’s Purpose: Peace and Life
God loves you and wants you to experience peace and eternal life.

Step 2 – The Problem: Our Separation from God
God created us in His image. He gave us a will and the freedom of choice; we choose to disobey Him and go our own way which is called sin. This separates us from God.

Step 3 – God’s Bridge: The Cross
Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave. When He did He paid the penalty for our sins and bridged the gap between us and God.

Step 4 – Our Response: Receive Christ
We must trust and receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Romans 10:9
"If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

This power is conferred by the energy of God’s powerful strength.”
