Quick Bible Lesson
The Wheat, The Tare, and The Weed.
We all know this parable taught by Jesus....
There was a farmer who planted his seeds. He fell asleep and another farmer planted his seeds in the same field as the first planter. When the harvest came, the wheat grew along with tares and weeds.
First let me explain something.....
For the second farmer to plant his seed in the same field was an out-right disrespect to the first farmer. Back then the only time that a second farmer planted on the same field as another represented a deep hatred. Problem was, the first farmer knew who their enemy was and could bring him to death for such. Times were too hard to have crops destroyed because of hostilities and hatred for one another. In today's world, that would be considered fighting grounds. In the political world, this act was a declaration of war.
Now it is easy to tell the difference between the wheat, tare, and the weed. The wheat is longer, bigger, and stronger. The tare is shorter, medium sized, and weaker. The weed is the shortest, smallest, and the weakest...The weed doesn't produce any seeds. The tare produces some seeds. The wheat produces the biggest seeds.
The farmer's helper wanted to pull up the weeds and the tares but was forbidden. The farmer told him to let them grow together. If any of the weeds or tares were pulled out, it could destroy the roots of the wheat. Best to wait until full grown to pull out.
Now get this SAINTS.....
To the non-farmers, knowing this difference wouldn't be so easy to dicipher. In truth they all look the same viewing it with the naked eye. Same for some of the women and men in the church. From the distance and even close up, everyone looks like wheat. Some having the form of Godliness, but deny the power thereof. They look like they are saved, sanctified, and Holy Ghost filled until they reach the threshing floor...
The threshing floor is a place where the seeds were separated from the vine. This is a painful time in a Christians life because it is where tests, trials, and tribulations comes to prove the faith. One can tell what Christian is victorious through the seeds produced. We all are overcommers by the blood of the Lamb and the WORD of our testimony. For this cause, our seeds should be edible....
Understand this people....
The seeds from wheat are heavy and full. They look very different when full grown. They bow to the wind. Therefore when you see the wheat at its peak, and ready for harvest, they all are bent according to which way the wind blew...
The Holy Spirit will cause us to stay on bended knees. These are those who spent time with the Lord and obeyed his WORD to the letter. They had no other choice because the seeds that were planted in them were too strong and mighty to stand upright with pride...
The tare is prideful and boastful. They are stubborn, reprobated, and self endowed. They act like wheat. BUT GET THIS PEOPLE...If you eat the seeds from the tare, it cause severe nausia, produces vomit, severe headaches, and a host of other illnesses. BE VERY CAREFUL SAINTS AS TO WHO YOU LET FEED YOUR SPIRIT. The tare's job is to choke the life out of the wheat. Some of you sit next to these types of people in churches, at home, and in the workplace. This is the reason for sanctification.
SANCTIFICATION doesn't mean holiness. It doesn't mean being righteous either. You can rightously stand for any cause and hold to it. SANCTIFICANTION simply means being set apart.
You know you are sanctified when the tare doesn't affect you in any way.
You know you are sanctified when you no longer do the things you've done in the past.
You know you are sanctified when the tares around you don't what to mess with you.
You know you are sanctified when your atmosphere changes when you enter the place.
You know you are sanctified when you are transformed by the renewing of your minds...no longer being conformed to this world...and proven acceptable to the perfect will of God....
The weeds are just the speculators. They are just there watching what the tares and the wheat are doing. They have no place. They are just ugly to look at and really pose no threat. The only problem with the weeds is they are just bothersome. These are the gossipers. BUT BE VERY CARFEUL...gossipers have a way with destroying reputations. Everybody in the world will know your business. For this reason, it is better to find wise counsel among a wheat ( Church leader ) better yet GOD....
This is what GOD is going to do when he returns. This is the hour of repentance. We are living on the brink of the Kingdom of God dispensation. This is the last dispensation of this grace and mercy. If any of you are not living right, you better get right. Time is not going backwards, its only moving forward. Before it is all said and done, you'll be saying to yourself, "I should have repented when I had the chance." Don't let heaven come and you haven't proven yourselves worthy of the the gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus. The wages of your sins is death, destruction, and the lake of fire. Don't let your stubborn ways prevent you from partaking in the tree of life...

It is sad we still don't understand this particular parable...the farmer planted and went to sleep and another evil farmer came at night to sow tares not weed. two things happen here, 1. He slept and 2. Tares was sown at night, the wheat represent the Church and the sleeping was when the truth on earth had gone down at the time all of the Apostles were no more on earth to preach the truth of God's Word and the night was the dark age check very well when was Islam planted on earth your guess is as good as mine.....islam is the tares.....ask them today they tell you Abraham is also their father......looks like but won't bring forth fruit like the church.....let the Holy Spirit open our eyes to this truth.

the tear and wheat is a type of the two seeds in the world the seed of God and the seed of satin she explains it very well in this parable
Eric on August 02, 2014:
Reminds me of the tares sown in with the wheat of God's word i.e. the New Testament. Jesus said to beware the yeast(tares or corruption) of the Pharisees and Sadducees and Herod (or perhaps Essenes). A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough. While the early church slept (was not vigilant, like the Disciples slept the night before Jesus was handed over) the enemy Satan crept in and sowed the tares in with the wheat of God's word. If we pull up the tares now, we run the risk of pulling up the wheat as the roots are mingled. Jesus will sort this all out upon his return. In the meantime just be aware of the tares. Remember, Jesus said that my sheep hear my voice. So don't listen to the wrong voices.

I am mad about what Christians have done to my son when He was a teenager. Teenage Worship leader said, He would never amount too anything, those thoughts are still with Him and He goes to church no more, He laughs at Her for Her own sons are reaping drugs, no education and are jobless while He has excelled. Both are wrong. But now my son and family of 3 go on churched because of what a woman said 17 years ago.
Lady LaShonda (author) from Atlantic City, New Jersey on May 17, 2012:
Evan, As parents we can encourage our children to choose wisely their friends. What I have learned is our children are not always with us. They will play with everyone including those we don't want them around. The more we push them away from those who are bad influence, the more rebellious our children become. They already have it in their minds that we don't know anything. The best thing to do is to anoint our children everyday. Teach them the way of the Lord. Instill in them morals and Christian principles from birth. Teach them character and so that when they do leave, our children would make better choices of their own.
Evan on May 15, 2012:
In this our dispensation, what do we do to the tares? Allow them to grow with our children, spouses or faithful brethren in the church? if we allow them, won't they kill some saints spiritually. Pls l need response. if a tare is a friend to your child, what do you do?

This is not by chance that the Holy Spirit has answered what was heavy on my heart. Thank you Holy Spirit. LaShonda, this is great and Slice of Life, you are correct. We all pass from one phase to the next in this walk. I am so glad that God gives us a way out. Thank you both so much. For the confidence that is in you through Jesus Christ, has healed this heaviness on my heart.

cool ollie- tares arnt there to make the wheat strong but destroy it up root it tares are a real curse in the church they quench the holy spirit divide the body iv seen them at work and believers get sucked into there work with them, tares may be used to strengthen you, God may use that for good in your life, but that doesn't happen with most people just look at the state of the church ,the only way to burn them out is by doing works by the church, evangelism, bible based teaching it gets so hot they cant take it ,sadly as it is the tares run a lot of churches because Christians are lazy and self orientated and cant be bothered and that's not negativity just a hard plain fact and its about time the church would rise up and fight by works and start preaching against sin because the church is not much different than even Muslims and cults very little difference apart than we have the truth, the bible says Christians will be saved barely , well im not waiting for you or any one im getting on with it and if you dont that's between you and your lord, i spend little time trying to stir up the saints any more because of deaf ears ,read it believe it do all that it says
pete on November 07, 2011:
tares differ from quantity in each feild i suppose, makes you think how many tares are in your church ,i find start talking about Gods word normally roots tares out they switch off or change the subject,

Great analogy of the wheat, tare and weed. I question if the the tare and the weeds are there to make the wheat stonger. How else will the the wheat become stronger. all things are working together for God's purpose

Very interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing. I have to agree with tony that we will never really be worthy of salvation. If we could be then who needs the cross? But I do understand the sentiment. Nice hub!

not bad, i've studied this parable a lot. nice pics of tares and wheat, been looking for some good pics. of them. kind of wish i could get out and physically hold them, to have a better understatnding of differences.
*side note: have a small disagreement. you said:
"Don't let heaven come and you haven't proven yourselves worthy of the the gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus"
you can't prove yourself worthy of the gift of Jesus. no really, im serious. you should come to an understanding that you will never be worthy of such a gift. its not given by works, but by grace (an unmerited gift, favour, etc., granted by God).

Great Hub! I think christians can be all three at different times in their journey - the weeds the tare and the wheat, to maintain the position of wheat requires constantly being in the Word and Godly Wisdom. Thank you for the gentle reminder.

I agree with DeBorrah-- I am glad when we know Christ that we are a new creation! I do have to add I know some weeds and tares around that have a lot of seeds and are very busy trying to germinate and propagate :)
Sometimes its hard to identify them-- kind of like those wolves in sheep's clothing.

This is an interesting hub!
You have used great pictures to illustrate the tares, wheat and the weeds. It is important to know the Word of God. It is through His Word and the acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, your mind can be renewed and your life transformed.

I thought you explained sanctification really well! It was my favourite part of the article. Not to say einron is wrong, only that I thought the ways you described sanctification illustrated the effects of holiness, purification, consecration, etc.
Leon Elijah from The Household of Sam Soleyn - Durban - South Africa on June 22, 2009:
Hi Lashonda, This subject is very important as you stated we have almost come to the end of the age, when the Angels will begin the reaping and the threshing and the separtion will occur. I beleive that the reformation of the Church age is over, and that the Kingdom of God is being established. Beacause this is the only Parable that concludes with, The Kingdom of my Father, at this stage it is only Father and mature sons. Visit my hubpage in your spare time and read The transforming power of the Baptism of Fire, Blessing.
einron from Toronto, Ontario, CANADA on June 05, 2009:
Very well explained hub. However, I disagree with you on the meaning of "sanctification". It means more than set apart. Sanctification means the act to make as holy, to purify from sin, to consecrate, to make inviolable.
