What Happens When We Disobey God?

But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all his commandments and his statues which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you: cursed shall you be in the city and cursed shall you be in the country. Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Cursed shall be the fruit of your body and the produce of your land, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks. Cursed shall you be when you come in and cursed shall you be when you go out. The Lord will send on you cursing, confusion and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you have perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken me. The Lord will make the plaque cling to you until he has consumed you from the land which you are going to possess.~Deut 28:15-21~NLT

I once heard a preacher say, "It's tight, but it's right". Disobedience caused the fall of man, Disobedience got Adam and Eve kicked out of the Garden of Eden and finally, it was disobedience that gave birth to sin.

Disobedience to God's word and his commandments can cause us to loose everything that we have. Most of all, it takes away God's promises for our lives. It takes away his promise for safety, blessings, and leaves us in a state of destitution. Disobedience to God only brings about hardship and curses. Nothing good comes from disobeying the Lord. There's only destruction. When God places a curse on someone, it doesn't stop at that individual. God curses the children, and their offspring as well. For example, we all know that a little alcohol is good for the stomach. ~1 Tim 5:23~ Yes, i know many of you like that scripture huh? But, the bible also declares that wine is a mocker, and he that is deceived by it is not wise. ~Proverbs 20:1~ Throughout the book of Proverbs, you will find all kinds of warnings against drinking too much wine. Wine often makes a fool of you, if you drink too much of it. Wine takes you out of your mind. Wine makes a man raging. However, many do not heed the warnings given to us about wine, and before you know it, an alcoholic is born. Now, your children grow up watching you drink your life away and later, become alcoholics themselves. Then the curse continues on until their kids become alcoholics. This is what's called a generational curse. Everybody in the family becomes an alcoholic. As you can see, the curse didn't stop with you. It was passed down to your children. And this works with anything that God warns against. When you disobey the words of God and fail to heed his instructions, you wreck your life and the life of your family. You become cursed. However, there is a way to stop the curse. You can repent, ask God to forgive you and remove any curse or stronghold that may be in your life. Once you repent, you can start a new life, by reading and obeying God's word. You can live the life that leads to a curse or a life of blessings. The choice is yours.

May God add a blessing to the reading of his word.
