Virgin Mary Apparition In Clearwater Florida
December 17th, 1996
This happened just a few blocks from my house in Clearwater. My street was solid lined with cars, and I couldn't imagine what was going on. Overnight weather conditions caused this apparition. It would be impossible to drive there in my car, so I walked with the crowds to see the miracle.
Beautiful
It was so beautiful. The windows were large and dark blue, reflecting a light sky with thin white clouds, (notice the background). The apparition seemed to be floating in a swirl of rainbow colors. It reached across nine windows each one flowing into the other, forming a perfect figure of the Virgin Mary. It stretched the height of a two story building, lined across the front with tall palm trees. Pictures have not captured how beautiful it was. I felt like I was seeing a piece of heaven.
Crowds
The traffic was jammed and policemen had to be called to the area. I have never witnessed anything like it. Some people were running to get to it. There were wheelchair patients. People with canes, women and children. There was crying and kneeling. Candles lit by the hundreds. Some were saying the rosary.
I had my video camera with me and was filming for my family who lived up north. A plain clothes policeman followed me, and questioned me because I was filming children at the time, and asked for my identy. I looked around at all the chaos and for the first time in my life I realized that this is what Jesus had to deal with. And now I understand why He escaped to the sea to avoid the crowds.
The weeks following , the crowds got bigger and bigger. People came from all over the world. Traffic lights had to be installed. Church services were set up with chairs and a statue was erected. Witnessing this has caused me to believe most are people want and need to believe in God. Some say they don't believe, but when something like this happens, it removes doubt and you find yourself walking toward a miracle. Something higher than yourself.
Vandalism
It took months but eventually the crowds slowed. Then vandalism destroyed it. The news papers said an 18 year old High school student admitted he shot at the windows with a slingshot.
March 1, 2004
Kyle Maskill admitted firing ball bearings at the windows and destroyed the top three panels. In July 2004, he was ordered to jail for 10 days and ordered to pay $1,200 in damages. A part of the image still remains. A church organization bought the building and it is being utilized for non-profit causes. Bulletproof glass has been installed over the remaining image.

MY mother passed.away on mothers day 2011 .A book of the faces of Mary was in her garage.and a pic of clearwater mary was in the book. About three months later I decided to pay homage so myself and melanie and three kids drove from ohio to clearwater to find out of the.broken glass.I was asked if I wanted to go into the.basement I did and I took some pic of the stations of saints and one if mary she was surrounded by stone like a cave hand built about five foot tall .we prayed went to Disney world visited my friends and came home .Looking through the pictures Melanie noticed baby skulls around Mary images were in the stone I receive a newsletter from my uncle of the messages of Medjagorie and Mary message was to baptize your. Children cause satan wants their souls .The message from Yugoslavia medjagorie reflects the baby skulls Mary s words helps led us to Christ her son and her son will lead will leadto God

If I was that boy with the slingshot's Mom..i would be so proud of him. foolish people ..just because it is supernatural ..doesn't make it from God! How easy you will be tricked..pay attention to "the word"!!! No false idols! WE DO NOT PRAY TO MARY! Through JESUS ONLY! Praying to a window?? !!!devil is having a good laugh...look how many people will leave the Lord's word..over some silly graven image..best be careful..not all that is supernatural is fromGod. Stessily: It really did look like stained glass in the sky. I'm sorry you lost your mother, and just before her birthday. Holidays bring up so many emotions. But Christmas is one that promises hope and new beginnings.
I have thought of that boy and his slingshot, and wondered how I would feel if I were his mother. It's sad.
Mary615: I'm surprised you didn't hear of this. It was all over the news and news papers for months. I guess the holiday advertising took precedence in South Fl. It sure was spectacular.

anndavis25: The pattern of light is so beautiful in the opening photo that it could almost be stained glass, only it is more glorious because it is living light. I don't remember hearing about this phenomenon but my mother had passed away unexpectedly three months earlier, and I was heartbroken. Also that December was a sad time; December 5th was her birthday. Vandalism is always tragic; I can't begin to imagine the darkness in which such a young person was living to decide to destroy such a beautiful, living image of love and hope; may he heal and find redemption. I hope to see some day soon the part of the remaining image. Thank you for sharing your lovely photos and your personal experience.
