Over three decades ago I become interested in the Bible, having drank from the heavenly cup once, I have not been tired to drink more

In the previous article, I have continued with the sub-subtopic, “being in the System” and I have shared summed up the points about Daniel and three other princes as they had approached the prince of the Eunuchs set over them that they wanted a waiver and what followed afterwards.

Some of Those Minute Lights Seen by The Ancients Continues – Being in the System Yet

Daniel and the three princes here in are the people being focused for this.

The Invitation:

The King, Nebuchadnezzar, was greatly disturbed within him, and what comes to his mind to do to resolve the ongoing crisis within his heart was to bring to him the reputable astrologers of the land of Babylon to the palace to do something for them as a matter of urgency.

Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.(Dan. 2:2)

The King Sent for Those Magicians to Make Things Happen:

King Nebuchadnezzar wants the philosophers, astrologers, and the magicians in the land, who he knows were able to make just anything happen to make things happen. They must have been doing this well before now, thence the king has neither doubt nor hesitations in his heart to call them to do that one thing for him. It is what they have been trained for, making the impossible possible, making things happen. Because that must be what they have been doing for him to ensure that the kingdom keeps flourishing and prospering. (Dan. 2:3-6)

He Told Them What He Wants Them to Do:

The King did not hesitate to tell them why he has sent for them and what he wants them to do for him because he relies on them very strongly.

Response of the Philosophers:

They appreciate the King for valuing them within the land of Babylon and for deciding that they should be brought to the King to resolve the issue within the heart of the King.

They however pointed the king to an albatross which he was yet to resolve and it was that he needs to tell them what the dreams were before they would be able to tell him what the meanings of the dreams were.

However the king after hearing them out places emphasis on it that they need to tell him the dream and the meaning thereof, but they replied that no one on earth could do what the King has asked for except the “gods”

The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.

And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh. (Dan. 2:10-11)

They Stirred the Hornets’ nest:

By their reply they have stirred the anger of the king, this thence made the King to make a decree that all the astrologers of the land of Babylon either young or old be sought out and be killed.

The Naïve Philosophers Were Not Aware of This:

The newly inducted philosophers among who were Daniel and three others were not privy to the information nor what happened between the chief philosophers and perhaps their teachers in the Babylonian schools they had attended and the king.

How Daniel and His Friends Knew:

As the King has issued out the command, the guards who have been commanded to go through the nooks and crannies of the land of Babylon to get arrested those philosophers continued to do their works they got to Daniel and his team and through that they knew what had happened between the king and the chief philosophers and astrologers of the land of Babylon where they lived in.

For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain. (Dan. 2:12-13)

What Daniel and his team did would be expatiated upon in the next article.
