Introduction

I have in the previous article started writing on the love Michal and David had for each other, stating some points of how the father of Michal had stood as obstacles to them. I will continue with the discussion in this article.

Some of Those Minute Lights Seen by The Ancients Continues – Michal and David a Case Study

When we are in a catch-22 and we do not know what to do about the situation, we get sick of the world, we will start thinking and questioning the reason for being in the world. this happens to two lovers in the bible as I started in article 13, I want to continue with it here.

(iv) As Hard as She Tried She Couldn’t:

She after weighing the options of either leaving the man she loves and going ahead with him have seen that the benefits of going ahead with David far outweighs the demerits, therefore she goes ahead to continue to be romantically involved with David.

(v) King Saul Reluctantly Agreed:

Having discovered that his daughter is not ready to let go off her heard the love she has for David, the King, Saul, reluctantly agreed that they continued the relationship and eventually asks the young man to appear to him to tell him the conditions and terms to fulfill to get married to his daughter.

And Saul said, I will give him her, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Wherefore Saul said to David, thou shalt this day be my son in law in the one of the twain. (1 Sam. 18:21)

(vi) Condition of Their Wedding – A Snare:

Having reluctantly agreed, he told his servants what the condition of him marrying his daughter would be, because he wants dead at all cost. Therefore, he asks that his servants discuss this with David to feel his pulse. (1 Sam. 18:22-26)

(vii) David Agreed to the Terms:

David after hearing all that other servants have said, agreed to the terms of the King because of the unflinching love he has for Michal he went to the battle and killed two hundred philistines and brought their foreskins to the King as demanded for. (1 Sam. 18:27-28)

(viii) The Unsatisfied King:

Despite doing this, the King was yet unsatisfied as he wants him dead, therefore what keeps the lovers going is the love they had for each other.

And Saul saw and knew that the LORD was with David, and that Michal Saul's daughter loved him.

And Saul was yet the more afraid of David; and Saul became David's enemy continually. (1 Sam. 18:28-29)

This is a case study as found in the bible, there are others that could be extracted. However what I am pointing us to see is that assuming the duo did not love each other deeply, it is certain that the King would have succeeded in breaking them up.

Something like this also happens today as parents, siblings, friends, relatives may go against lovers’ coming together. Sometimes the reasons may not be stated and at other times the reasons may be known.

When something like this developed among the duo, they become plunged into the darkest moments of their relationships, but the only thing that keeps them going is the love they have for each other, knowing deep within them that the love of their partner to them is a genuine one. This love is they had for each other gives them the ability to weather the storms together overcoming the storm.

I will continue with the exegesis of the topic in the next article.
