Over three decades ago I become interested in the Bible, having drank from the heavenly cup once, I have not been tired to drink more
Sometimes we know there is no way at a place, that is, humanly speaking something we are embarking upon is not possible.
Take the case of Israelites as example when they went out of the land of Egypt, the path that God led them to, at the inception they did not argue because they thought the path they will pass through was passing through the wilderness maneuvering their paths around the red sea, they never imagined that God would ask that they go through the red sea, for assuming they had known they would have complained well before they left the land of Egypt. Although they desire to leave the place by all means, yet, they would have still complained argued with Prophet Moses of the possibility of passing through the red sea when they cannot swim.
“And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
“But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
“And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.
“And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.” (Exo. 13:17-20)
It was when they got to the place that they discovered that where the Lord asks them to pass through was the red sea, and by then it was rather too late for them to back out, thence they had to raise the alarm, complained murmured to Moses about the decision especially so when they saw that the enemies were approaching. (Exo. 14:10-12)
Moses too on seeing this knows that it is humanly impossible for them to make advancements, not within the shortest time that avails them because of the enemies who drew nigh, therefore he has to call unto the Lord for assistance.
“And the LORD said unto Moses, wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:” (Exo. 14:15)
This is an example of what is practically impossible for humans to be achieved.

Another close example that shall come to mind was the case of Abraham and his wife, Sarah, the Lord has said to them that they will have a son, but time has gone and the woman was not seeing her monthly visitor again thence she suggested to her husband of what to do thinking that may be the means that the Lord wants to use. (Gen. 16)
God however told Abraham that was not the means he wants to employ that what he was speaking about was given him a son through Sarah. Yet the man could not come to terms of how possible this could be because his wife was old, therefore he implores the Lord to bless Ishmael and leave the issue of Sarah alone because she equally has agreed to what is happening to her.
“Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?
“And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!” (Gen. 17:17-18)
However, God reinstated his own words that what he says shall come to pass, that Sarah shall give birth to a son of covenant.
What happened to Abraham also happened to Sarah after they had accommodated strange visitors and one of them says, Sarah would give birth she knows that humanly speaking what the man was saying was not possible because everything has passed for her, no menstrual flow again, breasts flat among other hormonal changes in her system that points to it that what has been said is verily impossible.
God however will silence Sarah too by telling her that nothing is impossible with God.
“And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
“Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
“Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
“And the LORD said unto Abraham, wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?
“Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.” (Gen. 18:10-14)
In these instances shared we shall discover that humanly speaking the situation is not favorable, everything is bleak for them, darkness covered their situations and they could not see beam of light, however, they could see dimmed light.
I shall continue with the exegesis of this topic in the next article.
