I don't know how many hubs there are dedicated to Our Lady, but I wanted to take a little time out to thank her for being the mother of the church, and the mother of Jesus. After all, who was closer to Jesus, except Mary, who bore him in her womb, and mothered him and after watching him die on the cross, held him in her arms.

Praying the rosary has been recommended by many Catholic saints who have accomplished trememdous tasks. One is St. John Vianney who called it "the weapon".

The rosary was introduced many years ago it is guessed in the 12th century by St. Dominic who was said to have a vision of Our Lady. It is a treasured prayer of the Catholic Church. Prayer of the rosary has many benefits:

  • Meditation on the many events of Jesus' Passion and death and Glorious resurrection
  • Asking Holy Mary to pray for us

The meditation helps greatly in times of temptation as it draws our thoughts to God, when we otherwise would not have the strength possibly of mind to say prayers in our own words, and even if we do or did, the length of it, which takes minumum 15 minutes to recite 5 mysteries (Joyful, Sorrowful, or Glorious) while praying the Our Father, Haily Mary, and Glory Be, can help us to focus on God as well as distract us from our own pain, especially the Sorrowful Mysteries which are 1)The Agony in the Garden (of Gethsemene where Jesus sweated drops of blood from terror of the upcoming crucifixion 2)The Scourging at the Pillar (where chunks of his flesh were torn off by the brutality of the whipping used with metal hooks 3)The Crowning of Thorns (which teaches us not to be prideful) 4)The Carrying of the Cross (focusing on having patience with our own cross and 5)The Crucifixion (perseverance until death).

The meditation of the Sorrowful is my favorite for we can comfort Christ when we recall and meditate on his suffering for us and it certainly inspires me to realize my problems are minute compared to His Passion and death for us.

Mary is the one referred to in the bible who will 'crush the serpent' and replace eve as the new eve. She was the woman God chose to be his mother.
