Why I believe in God!
You and I have a choice to make. Do we believe in God or not? It is as simple as that. But at the same time it is life changing. If we believe in God then we have a second choice to make because we need to decide on which God we believe in. The Bible claims to be the revelation of the Eternal God, the Father of Jesus Christ and the Creator of everything. He has revealed himself in the history of His dealings with mankind. In Hebrews 1:1&2 the writer says the following: “In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in many different ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things….” (NIV translation) This passage is so profound. It speaks of revelation, creation and future promise.
The First Evidence: The evidence of our DNA. In Genesis 1:26 the Bile claims that men and woman are created in the image of God.
Here is the first amazing fact that we need to consider. We are created by God and so it can be said that we have His DNA. This is why there in a universal need to “find” and worship God. Paul, in Romans 2:15 explains that it does not matter if you are Jew or Gentile (that’s everyone), you have a knowledge of God, of good and evil, written in your hearts; in other words in your DNA. Every culture, every nation has an instinctive knowledge of God, because they have been created by Him in His image. God and you are linked together because of who you are and who God is. We may say that we are family.
The record of God’s dealing with mankind. Here is the astonishing claim that demands either acceptance or rejection – we have it all recorded in what is called the Holy Scriptures. We need to go no further than to examine carefully the scriptures to discover God, and then also discover His will for us in our lives. It is a spiritual journey that begins for anyone who opens their hearts and their minds to the greatest book ever written.
The Second Evidence: Ps 19:1-6. Anyone who looks carefully at this wonderful world and universe has to call out with the Psalm writer in amazement; “How clearly the sky reveals God’s Glory.” If we open our eyes to see the beauty of the world, the universe and life itself, we see God. Yes we as humans do manage to mess things up, but God, through the Holy Spirit, and in Jesus Christ offers a new world with forgiveness, grace, hope, salvation and support. All the benefits of life in the Kingdom of God begin with the simple belief that He exists and can deliver what He promises.
The Third Evidence: The Bible is a truly amazing book. In fact it is a library of books written over several thousands of years and deserves your and my careful consideration. It is easy to write it off as something we humans, or a specific group of humans, dreamt up to fool themselves and others. An honest approach to the Bible will change your life because in it God will be speaking to you. If you dismiss it by buying into the many uninformed theories that are easily promoted by many who have never really read it, you are doing yourself a great disservice. The Old Testament prophecies that came true and the New Testament promises that have proved to be true in many a life, are beyond question.
Conclusion: Whether you believe in the Bible and in God makes no difference to whether the Bible is true or whether God exists or not. It does however greatly challenge your life! Unbelief however, makes a huge difference to who you are, how you will live, and where you will spend eternity. The promises made in the Bible are so great that they are perhaps difficult to believe. But the opportunity to have peace with our Creator, to be blessed by Him every day cannot be rejected easily. To have peace with ourselves and other people is really only possible with God's help. And then to spend eternity with Him in a place specially prepared for us is so amazing that it should not be written off lightly. If you begin your journey by reading one of the Gospels you may just be surprised where it may lead you. It is a journey that many have taken before you and many will still take in the future. Not many who have done so have regretted it! But for you it is an opportunity that deserves your full attention!

Very nicely done. I normally shy away from any discussion of "reason for loving God". But you are a fav of mine, and I enjoyed it.
