There Will Never Be A Change Without Changes #6

It is never too late for anyone to discover his/herself in life. Discovering this talent of writing makes me feel elated...

8. Use the Same Power and Grace as of Old to Preach

Some believers are basking on the success of the past, and because of this they have been grossly unable to make appreciable progress and impact in their world. This essentially was one of the errors among others of the Mighty warrior Samson. He was basking on the euphoria of the former successes and thought nothing could happen to him if he continues to do what he ought nay to do. (Judg. 13-16). Many of us the previous achievements in faith is what we rely on whereas all the apostles say this is not good. Jesus himself told his disciples that they should not bask on such euphoria, they should not glory that the demons bow to them but they should rather glory that their names are written down in heaven.

And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. (Luk 10:17-20)

Then he will tell them when he wants to leave the world that they need to get the power of God so that they will be able to still arrows of the enemies, remove the mountains, and thence take the gospel to the ends of the world.

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. (Luk 24:49)

Apostle Paul says he is forgetting the past,

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, (Php 3:13)

We need to always be doing as the apostles of old have done, forgetting the previous achievements, though appreciating God for all he has done for us and through us those times, but we should continue to aspire to get better than before, it is when we are doing this that our lives shall be transformed, ministries transformed and then we shall be able to minister with great grace and great power in our generation.

And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. (Act 4:33)

Our positions spiritually and physically have remained the same because we are yet operating under yesterday’s power and grace whereas He wants our levels change, He wants us to be operating under great power and great grace.

9. Continuous Use of the Same Method (Style)

When we continue to use the same style, there may be a problem in what we are doing. Consider the time past when computer has not been invented, and the people are using manual typewriter machines. If those who are using that kind of machine refuses to change, conforming to the present state of the use of computers, it is certain that the when their mates are making advancements they would be lagging behind. If such people now start to say those people who have make advancements are using some diabolical means to achieve their feat, people will stop their mouths because what is happening is a glaring one. We cannot continue to use the same obsolete method and expect a different results. (1 Ki. 20:28; 2 Ch. 20:14-20)

10. Keep Interacting and Being Friends with The Same Unproductive (Myopic) Minds

it is no gain saying that some people are not productive in their thoughts, they are the kind of people who are at ease in Zion, they are contented and comfortable with just anything. They do not have a dream and or if they have dreams before, they have shelved their dreams perhaps because of some troubles, uphill and other challenges that have cropped up along their path to actualizing their dreams.

Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came! (Amo 6:1)

Because of the problems they have encountered, they considered it that maybe God has no interest in what they are doing, maybe it is not the will of God for their lives again, thence, they have suspended all their ambitions and aspirations and when anyone says to them that she or he has any dream they will water down the person, telling him or her that “it is what God does that could be done and should not disturb himself, should not labor for nothing”. This they are saying because of their failures and because they could not press further forgetting that the bible says, when we are weak on the days of adversity our power is limited.

If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. (Prov. 24:10)

When we become companions of people like this, they will keep on watering down our spirits, they will keep on keeping us down and it is a matter of time before they would succeed in taking them to their levels, because the bible says Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. (Prov. 27:17). A person who cannot sharpen us would make us blunt and we shall become like him, losing hope and not willing to pursue what is ours, our dreams.

Therefore, we have to leave the companion of those people if indeed we wish to break forth and start making impact in our generation.

I shall be concluding this topic in the next article.
