The WEDDING SUPPER of the LAMB - At the Coming KINGDOM of the LORD

An Invitation for ALL the World!

The "WEDDING of the AGES"

A time will soon be at hand where all the believers in the Son of God, Jesus Christ, Yeshua the Messiah, are to be gathered together for a spectacular event that will surpass anything that has ever occurred or been experienced in the history of all mankind.

"And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’" (Matthew 10:7 NIV)

As we near the end of the 'Age of the Church', even though the world itself may have to go through a period of 'Great Tribulation' (Revelation 7:13-14), we believers of Christ Jesus have His "blessed hope" to look forward to (Titus 2:11–13). The Lord will soon be returning to establish His 'Kingdom of Heaven' here on Earth. When that momentous time occurs, there will be a celebration like nothing that has ever been seen before in all of history - The 'Wedding of the Ages' for the 'Bride of Christ' (the 'Church of the New Covenant') and the WEDDING SUPPER of the LAMB of GOD! We will literally be having a wedding feast and worldwide banquet, as we sit down together and fellowship with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, here to reign on Earth for the next 'Millennium Age' (Revelation 20:1-6).

Assuredly, I say to you, THIS GENERATION will by no means pass away till all these things take place.” (Matthew 24:34 NKJ)

Understanding the WEDDING SUPPER of the LAMB

Now to better foresee this future event, we must first understand its relationship with the 'Church of the New Covenant' that was establish by Jesus Christ some 2000 years ago. The relationship that we have with Jesus, is that of a bride to be who is engaged to her Husband, the Lord Jesus Christ and Son of God who is the head of the church. This is why the church is also referred to as the 'Body of Christ' (1 Corinthians 12:12-14). We as the church, are betrothed to the "Bridegroom" (Christ), and are being prepared for the "wedding" when Christ returns and we are joined together with Him as one body. Therefore this relationship is to have a purifying affect on us, in that we are to be presented to him as a virgin bride, as His radiant church, without stain, wrinkle or blemish, being holy and blameless (2 Corinthians 11:2).

This is one of the most profound illustrations in the Holy Scripture. The representation of the Church as the 'Bride of Christ' (Revelation 21:9) is an illustration that is not fully appreciated from a modern perspective. For example, when viewed as a traditional Twentieth Century American marriage with modern courtship customs (if any at all), we then miss most all of the richness and depth of this sacred occasion.

To truly appreciate what the teachings of Jesus and His disciples represented, we need to look at what they taught about the Kingdom of the Lord by using marriage metaphors. Likewise, as the Apostle Paul described Christ in his letters to the new church, he represented the Lord as the "husband of the Church" and the "head" of the 'Body of Christ'. These metaphors are then better gleaned by discovering and understanding what the marriage and courtship customs were like during the time of the First Century in Judaea. This is especially true in regard to the Hebrew Wedding practices since the primary audience of the disciples were the early Jewish Christians. Jesus and His disciples were very clever in that they often taught with parables or examples of things that the people would already know about and understand.

When we consider these facts and look at other examples with the metaphors that are used, we can clearly see the relationship of Christ with the church. One good example of this is in the 'Parable of the Wedding Banquet' (Matthew 22:1-14), where "many are invited, but few are chosen." The wedding feast, celebration, and intimate union with our Lord God, who is Himself the embodiment of love, will be such a joyful, fulfilling and marvelous occasion that all our efforts should be focused on getting ready to attend that event.

There are also some other truly amazing parallels, in which literally every aspect of the ancient Hebrew Wedding traditions and customs are prophetically fulfilled through the events pertaining to the 'Marriage of the Lamb of God'. These similarities gives us a unique insight into our own relationship with the Lord and His coming Kingdom. Through the references in the Holy Scriptures we can see that our Lord God is a God who pays particularly meticulous attention to details. He fulfills His will and plans according to what has already been established, for He is a God of consistent order and specific purpose.

The bride is then to take a purifying bath or Mikveh which is the Hebrew word for baptism.

We are first baptized in water and then with Holy Spirit, who cleanses and purifies us.

Luke 3:16; John 1:33; John 3:5; Acts 1:4-5; Acts 11:16

Matthew 25:1-13

When the bridegroom comes, the groomsmen run ahead shouting and announce his coming by blowing the Shofar horn.

When our bridegroom comes, it will be with the "voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God".

1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 4:1

The groom then arrives to snatch up his bride and abduct her.

The "RAPTURE" - Christ will gather us up when He abducts the church as His bride.

A large banquet will be planned (the wedding feast) as the culmination of the celebration.

The celebration in Heaven extends to the Earth as Christ and His bride (the "glorified saints") gather for the Wedding Feast.

Joel 2:15-16; John 3:29; Revelation 19:7-8

There are three different groups of attendees present at the wedding feast: the Groom, the Bride, and all the invited guests.

There will be three groups involved in the "Wedding Supper of the Lamb": the Groom (Jesus Christ), the Bride (the "glorified church") and the Guests (those saved during the Tribulation).

2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:23-27; Revelation 7:13-14; Revelation 21:9-10

(Jerusalem - The "Age of Israel") The newly wed couple then goes to dwell in their new home at the father's house.

The marriage is thus consummated and the Millennial "KINGDOM AGE" begins - Believers in the Messiah will reign with Christ as joint-heirs of the "New Jerusalem".

Isaiah 2:2-4; Ezekiel 43:1-2,7; Micah 4:1-5; Revelation 21:1-4; Revelation 21:9-27

"The natural result of the love relationship between two people is a deepening knowledge and understanding of one another, and so it is in our love relationship with the Lord Jesus." (I am My Beloved's - by Robert Probert - 1992)

Taking this as a spiritual representation of the relationship of Christ with His church, it would then become evident for individual Christians that their engagement into this marriage in its legal sense, is contracted at the moment an individual repents and puts their trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Key points about this relationship should also then be realized in the span of the prophetic timeline:

  • The "dowry" has already been paid in the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. Thus the "Bride" has been purchased and claimed in a legal way by the Bridegroom.
  • The day will soon come when the Bridegroom will come for His Bride, being "caught up" to meet Him in the sky, or "raptured" in the translation of the church (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
  • The Bridegroom then having claimed His Bride, the church (the 'Body of Christ'), will thus fulfill Christ's initial purpose (John 14:2-3) by creating an unbroken fellowship with His saints. The wife of the Lamb ("the glorified church") is adorned in fine linen (Revelation 19:7-9) and the marriage of the Lamb is thus declared with a celebration beginning in Heaven.
  • Meanwhile, the invitation to the "Wedding Feast" itself has still been extended to the rest of humanity (those outside the original 'Body of Christ' who have not yet accepted the Lord). But, only a fraction of the remaining people in the world will be able to attend this glorious celebration (Revelation 14:14-16; Revelation 19:9). The final "Wedding Guests" will be comprised of all those who are left, who have suffered through the 'Great Tribulation' and endured to the end (Mark 13:13; Revelation 7:9-17), to then finally accept the Lord Jesus and receive salvation before the end (Luke 21:36).
  • The inauguration of the Millennial Kingdom will occur when the Lord comes down out of the sky into the Earth and defeats the powers of the Antichrist (Revelation 19:11-21).
  • The 'Wedding Supper of the Lamb' is the final stage (Revelation 19:17-18), with the celebration extending from Heaven into the Earth, as the 'Kingdom of Heaven' is finally established in the world. Some theologians even speculate that the "Bride" will be comprised of the "glorified and resurrected saints" (the "raptured" church), who will then become "joint heirs with Christ" as authorities in the Lord's government for the administration of the Millennial Kingdom (Romans 8:16-18); whereas the "wedding guests" (those receiving salvation in the "last days") will enjoy a different status as honored citizens of the "Kingdom Age".
  • The "Bride" (the church) and the "Groom" (Christ) are then brought into His Father's heavenly home in the 'Kingdom of Heaven', to consummate this divine wedding.
  • There both the Bride and Groom along with all the Wedding Guests, will participate in this great Heavenly feast. It has been prepared by God Himself for his people, as it was described by the Prophet Isaiah nearly 700 years B.C., "...The LORD of hosts will make for all people a feast..." (Isaiah 25:6-9).

The Holy Spirit of God has been calling to men and women throughout all the ages of mankind. The invitation to the 'Wedding Supper of the Lamb' is the gospel, and the "good news" has now gone out to almost all the people of the world, in every age of history. Some have accepted the invitation while many still reject it.

People must open their eyes and hearts to the facts of what this relationship represents. What a privilege it will be to participate in this loving feast and share in the coming Kingdom of Heaven here on Earth. To experience the intimacy of living in fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ for all eternity-AMEN!

Rev. Ted: I love the way you tied, married the various scriptures to your discussion of the wedding feast. This is a great illustration of how we the bride and Jesus the groom become joined from beginning to the feast itself. Thank you dear brother.
