Flesh and the realm of the natural
Flesh comprises various aspects of our bodies, internal and external. We need our bodies functioning up to par to navigate us through this world. We need our internal organs to work in accordance with health and wholeness. We also need our external senses to work properly, sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell.
The senses were operational in our lives before we accepted Jesus Christ, as our Savior and Lord and they still must function after we’ve chosen Him. We just cannot allow them to hinder our faith, by walking by the sensual nature.
We use to solely live and walk by the dictates of the flesh and our senses. Our eyes capture a multitude of images in one blink; and we must rely on our sight to visualize things in the natural.
Our ears hear all types and kinds of sounds and distinguish them simultaneously and we need our ears to hear audibly.
Our noses smell odors and aromas that both satisfy and dissatisfy our sense of smell; we taste so many diverse pleasures and we delight in our palatable sensations; we touch in a wide and broad spectrum.
Yet, the contact we make through our senses is not adequate to walk by sight apart from God, we need faith to trust God and not the flesh. Faith depends solely on our trust in the creator of our bodies, and not the utilization of our bodies to fulfill our faith in God. In other words, faith can't trust or depend on the flesh.
All of the senses are sensual, carnal and fleshly and as new creatures in Christ Jesus we can’t rely on them above our spiritual sensitivity to the things, which pertain to God. The old man or woman was used to being led by fleshy dictates. Jesus warned that the flesh is unprofitable, and that the spirit is the profitable entity in putting on new life.
The anticipation of the flesh is fulfillment in every way conceivable. Flesh has been positioned from birth under the auspices of sin and its script for existing. I used the term existing because sin is not under life, in other words, the wages of sin will always produce death whether you are aware of it or not. Sin only pays death. For instance, you can agree to work for a salary and you will determine to accept the job based on the salary it pays, with this type of employment, salary increases and other benefits are the accruements of this job. Well sin does not pay extra benefits other than death and eternal damnation after, depending on if Jesus is the right you choose, the life and then eternal life.
If the flesh is allowed to rule and reign, what is called the carnal nature is in control, and that nature is hostile and at enmity with God. It doesn’t want to be told what to do or how to do it, if it means it will be kicked off the seat of power. The flesh is hedonistic, which means self-indulgent, pleasure seeking, self-gratifying and is only interested in being rewarded. Understanding the human or fleshly aspect is necessary in order to recognize what its stance is so that it is brought under submission to God, in order that the spirit man or woman can navigate the soul and flesh as it is led by the Spirit of God.
God designed flesh to know Him first and foremost, which would include the disciplinary measures it would have to follow to be successful. Have you ever given it any thought to all the rules and regulations the flesh has been given to obey? The Law was given for the flesh and it proved to be ineffective in controlling flesh not to commit unlawful acts.
The fall into sin gave the flesh its influence to obey the knowledge of good and evil. The flesh can know to do good and choose not to perform it and know evil and choose to perform it. The flesh has to be taught to do what is right. I am adamant about teaching, it is instructional and correction can easily be functional, and usually understood and practically applied when one is taught. Teaching is a must for flesh, because it is like a wandering vine, all over the place.
The purpose for laboring this point concerning the flesh is to decrease the potential that enables us to walk by sight. Walking by faith can't be obtained if the sight is involved. We must trust God and when the things we hope for manifest, we will then see them, hear them, touch, taste or smell them. However, the flesh cannot precede faith. Faith is spiritual, hope is mental and flesh is natural. To operate in the flesh is to function in the natural only. To bring the flesh into subjection to the spirit is to learn how to walk by faith and not by our senses. We learn to trust our senses naturally speaking, spiritually speaking we learn to trust our faith to guide us.
(Hebrews 11:1) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Now, right at this moment faith is the confidence we are investing in God for the things we hope will take place in the future and it is the confirmation of those things we cannot yet see. Why? Because we are not depending on our sight to qualify the existence of what we are expecting to happen. Without faith it is impossible to please God, He who comes to Him must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him regardless of all opposition. Understanding the flesh in the realm of the natural, we don’t walk by sight any more, but by faith in the spiritual realm. It is a paradox, that we are comprised of such multidimensional properties.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made. To live by the flesh is to live a substandard (beneath what is the standard) lifestyle, to live in the flesh by the dictates of the spirit, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit is to live a life of standard. I am a spirit, I have a soul and I live in a body. Flesh used to be positioned over spirit and soul as a sinner, it called all the shots. When we are born again that process is reversed and now the spirit calls all the shots, as we are led by the Holy Spirit.
We must choose to be led by the Spirit in every area of our lives. We are under transformation, the soul is learning how to cooperate in spiritual matters. I encourage you don’t allow anything about you to hinder your path to God. Give Him all that you are not as well as all that you are. We all have areas in our lives we desire improvements to manifest, but as you go through, give every care to God; He is trustworthy and can change any situation, circumstance and condition. There are places in me where I need God’s touch and only His touch, no one else will do. It is a place you must get to in life, touchy places in us are marked for repentance to receive healing, deliverance and whatever that sore spot needs.
Give it to God; cast all your cares upon Him, because He loves and cares for you. It is discombobulating how God cares for every one of us individually as well as collectively. I see myself as a mere grain of sand, yet when He zooms in on me, He magnifies my existence, only because of Jesus and His precious blood and the reality that He is a Sovereign God of greatness. He is El Shaddai (The God Almighty).

Good morning, "The Stages Of Me" Thank you for your feedback and comment. I am joyous to hear that this is hub can be instrumental to the youth as well as adults. The verse that triggered this hub is we walk by faith and not by sight, because we cannot allow our senses to guide us. The door of trusting God will always take the key of faith to open it. Grace and peace to you and have a grand day.
