The Power of The Believer's Authority

Know Your Authority In Christ

Saints, let me start this sermon message today on the Power of the Believer's Authority by using the scriptures found in (Matthew 18:18-19) "Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on Earth, shall be bound in Heaven and whatsoever ye shall loose on Earth, shall be loosed in Heaven." The next scripture verse (19) states that "Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on Earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in Heaven.

Church, we can do a further study on our founding scripture by going to (Proverbs 3:3-6) where it speaks of binding mercy and truth about thy neck which simply means to tie to as if being joined together then beloved we can do a study on (Isaiah 58:6) where the writer speaks of loosing the spirit of wickedness which means to disassemble or break apart. Beloved, this might change the way we exercise binding and loosing in our services but one thing that I do know is that the devil will not be bound until Michael binds him to begin the 1000 year reign of Christ upon the throne of David and I sure do not want him bound to me.

Beloved, this message is about knowing our delegated authority in Christ and I would like to begin with an illustration that we all are very familiar with and it is that of being in a busy intersection and we notice a policeman holding out his hands to stop traffic. Beloved, the policeman is no match for the 2,000 pound automobile headed his way and the vehicle could easily run over the man and keep going.

Beloved, the driver of the vehicle knows that the policeman represents the law understanding that he or she has been sworn in as a civil servant and protector of the public at large in their jurisdiction. Saints, the officer has the badge giving them the absolute authority to get help to control the situation.

Now saints, let’s say they witness a crime being committed and instead of handling the situation, they call up the mayor at 3 am and ask him what to do or say they call up the police chief and ask him what to do?
Beloved, how long do you think they would be able to keep their job?

Dear saints, they has been provided top of the line training from the police academy to handle any given situation that may arise and instead of acting on the authority and training, freeze in fear that they may not do the right thing which hinders their ability and performance to do their job.

Beloved, they have the authority to secure the situation and arrest the perpetrator committing the crime and reluctantly, they chose to not exercise that authority. Saints may I as you a very important question, what would their superiors do? Beloved, I tell you that saints, that they would either be fired or sent back for more training.

Beloved, when an individual is caught for doing something wrong, the police officer has the authority to let them go or arrest them because this power or authority was given to them by their Police Chief that is in the Head Office of the Police Department. Beloved saints, who gave the Police Chief this power and authority?
Beloved, please understand that it is the President and the constitution of the United States that grants and assures the Police Chief the power to arrest, issue a ticket or give a warning to the law breaker.

Saints, let’s now look at a manager who has just been hired and has spent weeks in training, say, starting out as an employee. learning the ropes and working their way up the ladder. Beloved, the trained manager has the delegated authority to do the job he has been hired to do, including the authority to make some tough decisions when the need arises, which could affect the future of the company.

Beloved, lets say in our story, that instead of making those decisions, the manager calls up their supervisor and asks them what to do. Saints, they might get by with this a few times, but soon their supervisor is going to start wondering if they hired the right person for the job and start making plans to fill that position with someone who will use the authority that has been delegated to the position.

Beloved, a manager has delegated authority as long as they hold the management position however, should a manager resign from their position of authority, they no longer have authority to speak as a representative for the company.

Saints, a policeman with uniform has authority as long as they are employed by the city government that hired them, however, when they are no longer employed as a policeman, they must turn in their shield or badge and no longer have recognized authority to perform their duties as an officer of the law.

Now saints, let me bring this valuable illustration down to unlocking the lock that is on the door of your home. Beloved, you have the keys to fit the lock to the door which allows access into your home and the keys represent that you have the power to go in and out of your home at your leisure.

Beloved, the key unlocks the door and allows entrance into the home and it can also lock the door to keep others out. Saints, your wife may be asleep in another room but because you have the key to the door, you can enter the home without waking her up. Beloved, the keys represent authority and are proof that you have the ability to go in and out of your home, because you have the authority to do so therefore beloved, the keys represent ownership or the authority that is trusted to the registered agent of the building.

We Have Delegated Authority

Dear reader, Jesus is the doorway to God and Jesus had already defeated Satan. God’s church shares the same authority of Jesus. (Colossians. 1:18) And he is the head of the body, the church; who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

(Ephesians1:21-23) 21Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come.22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Beloved, we discover in the above verses that Jesus is the head of the body which is the church and we as the church of Jesus Christ are under the authority of Jesus therefore, because we have surrendered our life to the lordship of the Jesus Christ, we are no longer under the authority or rule of Satan and because we now live a surrendered life to Christ, we are not under the control of superstitions, curses, and charms.

Dear saints, Satan is the god of this world, but thanks to the finished work of Christ on the cross, we are no longer under his authority or control. Beloved, we find in verse 21 of Ephesians that "all things being put under his feet" is speaking of the various orders of angels, demons and powers and in verse 22, we can see clearly that he is not speaking of church affiliation.

Beloved, Christ is the risen Head of the church, and its members are subject to him, therefore, using spiritual warfare using the name of Jesus, we have delegated authority and power to break Satan’s hold over us because we are under a new authority, yes beloved, we are under new management and leadership.

Scroll to Continue

Saints, we are under the Government and Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ because Jesus has already defeated Satan through his life, his death, and his resurrection.

Beloved, God's Son Jesus has been delegated all authority over Satan and the kingdom of darkness.

Saints, did you know that we as the church of God which the bible calls a purchased possession that he purchased with his own blood, share the same delegated authority that Jesus has that was delegated unto him by the father making him both Lord and Christ?

Beloved, we are the body of Christ and we follow the head which is Jesus.

Ephesians 1st Chapter says that God hath given him (Jesus) to be the head over all things to the church which is his body.

Beloved, the body cannot go in one direction, and the head in another direction.

Saints, God’s church is not defeated or powerless, and yes, there might be some unbelievers gathered in a local church body that are not members of the body of Christ but when Christ is speaking concerning his body on Earth, he is referring to those born again believers that have accepted him as Lord and Savior.

Beloved may we keep in mind that Paul in this setting is not talking about the local church or a denomination that we see today and remember; the key to have and exercise spiritual authority in our lives is not head knowledge but heart knowledge, in understanding and knowing the word of God and the Authority of Christ then applying that knowledge in our everyday life.

Saints, the devil thought when he killed Jesus that he was doing away with the Son of God. Saints, Jesus had to go away, but not without a body here on this Earth. Beloved saints, it is not Jesus who is physically walking on the Earth today, but you and me.

God desires for us to realize that the same authority that He placed on Jesus Christ is now walking with and working through us. Beloved, Jesus made the statement in (John 16:7) that he must go away, or the comforter would not come.

Church, we understand that Jesus was confined in his Earthly body when he walked on this planet and someone had to be in the area where he was to get something from him.

Beloved, by studying the scriptures, we discover that God is omnipresent and is everywhere; His throne is in Heaven and his wrath fuels the flames of hell, now that is a powerful God.

Beloved, Jesus defeated Satan on the cross taking the authority or (keys) of death, hell, and the grave out of his hands and placed him under his feet.

Beloved, we find in (Colossians 2:15) that “Jesus disarmed the principalities and powers and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in the cross.” Saints, God came to set us free from the fear and bondage of the devil, therefore saints, because we are the body of Christ. instead of Satan dealing with one man going about doing good and casting out devils, Satan must now deal with the church, which is the body of Christ on Earth.

Beloved, when an invading army would over run a city, they would take the strong into captivity and make them their slaves, leaving the weak and elderly behind, but not without salting their land. beloved, the salt on their land would serve to prevent them from growing their crops to get strong again and beloved saints of God, we are the salt per say that are supposed to keep the enemy’s kingdom from regrouping and getting strong again, therefore it is up to us to keep him under our feet.

My Conclusion

Church, my prayer is that God will use this message to bring revival to a confused hurting world and in my closing conclusion, let me state that we as the body of Christ making up the church here on Earth must never forget why we are saved because saints, our Heavenly Father is the sovereign ruler of the greatest kingdom throughout the entire universe.

Beloved, my favorite scripture in God's Holy word is (Psalms 19:-14) which says "let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O lord, my strength and my redeemer."

Saints, we discovered in earlier chapters that the same delegated authority that God gave to Christ, is the same delegated authority Christ gave his church which can be found in Luke 22. (Luke 22:29)

Beloved, God’s kingdom is a real kingdom with a real government which has a judicial branch of government recognized in the book of Daniel as the council of God.

Saints, here in this life, we are evaluated and are accused by the accuser of the brethren, but thank God saints, Satan can only approach the courts and make his accusations but we as Sons and daughters of God can not only approach the court but can by God's Holy Spirit be granted access into the throne of mercy and grace.

Beloved, some of us are called to operate in more than the signs which follow them that believe, and God is moving us around into a special place for the final clash with the kingdom of darkness which is now upon us.

Beloved, I am glad that God knows them that are His, (2 Timothy 2:19) and this gives us hope which is called the Anchor of our soul especially in knowing that if this Earthly house were dissolved (which means our earthly body made of flesh) we have a house in the heavens not made with hands.

Dear reader, the child of God may leave their body, but they will never lose consciousness at death.

Beloved, God states in His word (Proverbs 116:15) that the death of His saints is precious in His eyes.

Thank God church, when this mortal will put on immortality, and I may be sown in weakness but rest assured, I will be raised in his power. Dear saints, (1 Corinthians 8:3) expresses the fact that the man who loves God is known of God.

Saints, when all is said and done, there will come a time and place in our future where every knee, including every person that has ever been born on this planet will bow and confess to the lordship of Jesus Christ to the Glory of God the Father.

Dear reader, I want to close this message with a scripture that will re-affirm the Love of Christ for us as his purchased possession and it can be found in the book of Romans chapter eight and verse thirty-seven.

(Romans 8: 37) “Who can separate us from the love of Christ, shall trouble, hardship, persecution, hunger, poverty, danger, or death, “Nay in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

My Closing Prayer

Dear Lord, with all the hatred, unrest including people holding offices in government positions that do not have the best interests and well-being of their people in mind, especially Christians persecuted for their faith, Lord, my prayer is that you stir us up and burden our heart for true revival to break out; yes Lord, in every country throughout the world and demonstrate to the people in these countries that you are the Unchanging God. Lord, Your word declares it, that what you were yesterday, you are today, and will be tomorrow! (Hebrews 13:8)

Father, I sincerely come before your throne and pray a special prayer asking that you will assign an Angel with each of my books including my written messages that for many years have been distributed and mailed without charge throughout the inner cities of America and many countries throughout the world.

Dear Lord, you know my heart that I did not under your inspiration and guidance write these books and messages for personal gain or recognition, but through a burning desire believing your Holy Spirit will use them to enlighten those that are seeking a closer walk and a deeper understanding of the truths embedded in your word.

Dear God, help us to always remember that we as your children are a part of your body on Earth and your word states that when one member suffers, we all suffer.

Dear Lord, we learn by studying church history that the old masters of the pulpit got their texts on their knees, soaked them with their tears, groaned over them with a travailing spirit, and warmed them with sincere prayer. Lord, the masters were then able to deliver their message as a living thing, warm from your heart, burning in their heart to make warm the heart of the listeners and Lord, we are still reading and studying some of these fiery inspirational messages today.

Dear Lord, we desperately need your direction and guidance as we are constantly hearing news of school shootings and loss of life in a world where the young have been educated that life is useless and meaningless.

Dear Lord in closing, help us to keep in view your tender mercy, love, grace, and supreme sacrifice in becoming our sin substitute.

Dear Lord, help us to demonstrate to all that see us, that we are indeed the body of Christ and in this trying time of unrest and confusion, may we always bear in mind that you are a very present help in the time of trouble, and it is In Jesus mighty name we humbly pray, A-MEN.

Be Blessed and Be A Blessing

Thanks Wba,

We got to realize that we do not have to be concerned about winning the victory as if the battle depended on us for Crist has alreadt defeated Satan and we need to sit in the place of Victory and claim what has already been won. from upstate, NY on December 01, 2012:

Very well written Hub about our authority as believers! Your so right about the police officer, since he carries that badge, he has the authority of the government behind him. He doesn't have to threaten or yell all he has to do is calmly confront the perpetrator knowing he has the full backing of the government to do his job!

Since we are members of Christ's body, our hands are His hands, our feet are His feet, we have the authority over to destroy the works of the Devil. And those works include disease, poverty, strife and hatred!
