The King's Daughter—Back to Eternity

Tamarajo is an avid Bible scholar who loves nothing more than seeking out the treasures in God's Word and sharing them with others.

Experiences inspired this article from my journey of discovering the eternal love of God that set me free. This particular piece will discuss how God considers His daughters precious and valuable.

These lessons were written and arranged for a women's conference that our church hosted.

This study centers on the following portion of Scripture.

Kings’ daughters are among Your honorable women; At Your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir. Listen, O daughter, Consider and incline your ear; Forget your own people also, and your father’s house; So the King will greatly desire your beauty; Because He is your Lord, worship Him. And the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift; The rich among the people will seek your favor. The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace Her clothing is woven with gold. She shall be brought to the King in robes of many colors; The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to You. With gladness and rejoicing they shall be brought; They shall enter the King’s palace.

— Psalm 45:9-15

One of the most significant challenges of women sometimes is to believe that they are loved. Many of us have spent a good portion of our lives attempting to convince ourselves that we are truly loved through the dramatics of our relationships.

I have concluded on this leg of my journey that true eternal, everlasting love can only realize through a relationship with our Father in Heaven through His Son Jesus Christ.

Some of us have entered into that relationship but have not truly comprehended our positions as King's Daughters and have not truly captured the emotional depth of His love. This understanding is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning this.

. . . that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

— Ephesians 3:17

"King's daughters"

Our study begins with this statement from Psalm 45.

Kings’ daughters . . .

To be addressed as "daughter" comes with the idea of acceptance, affection, and belonging. These very qualities that many women are desperate to experience yet find so elusive in the natural world.

Paul, in his letter to the Ephesians, addresses this issue.

. . . just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

— Ephesians 1:4

He chose us, adopted us, and made us accepted!! We have been noticed, wanted, and received in Him.

I recently went to a Youth Event with some local teens, and the guest speaker had made the observation that every 3-year-old girl wants to be a princess. He expressed his belief that it is born into every girl to know that she was born royalty, and she searches for its confirmation all of her life.

We were born to know the King of Kings. We did, once, know Him in a garden before we fell in Eve. Built right into the DNA of our desires passed down from her, sure enough, is the remembrance of a position we once held and for which we so desperately long for again. God planted and preserved His eternal purpose and plan for us deep within the very core of our being that is our hearts.

. . . He has put eternity in their hearts . . .

— Ecclesiastes 3:11

"Eden . . . Has there ever been a human who has not, at some point, sensed a yearning for such a place? From deep within us comes the intuition that this unsatisfactory set-up of ours is not the way things were meant to be. Longing for Eden is not only an escapist fantasy; it is in our nature. God meant us for better than this"

A Lesson From Trout

Trout fish's behaviors are an excellent illustration of this.

Trout is a type of fish described as being anadromous, meaning "running upwards." Anadromous fish will swim against the flow of a stream or river to get back up to their original place where they were spawned. These fish are so determined to get back to where they began that they will jump up waterfalls. They instinctively remember from where they came. So it is with us. We, too, instinctively know that we were once royalty created in His image.

And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;

— Acts 17:26

The verse above speaks more importantly about who we ought to seek rather than what we ought to seek. What we seek is a person rather than a place or position.

. . . for in Him we live and move and have our being . . .

— Acts 17:28

The position of a princess is only discovered in being the daughter of a king. It is hugely relevant that we can see God "The King of Kings" as our father through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

. . . the LORD sits as King for ever.

— Psalm 29:10

When we fell in the garden in Eve, we lost our positions and the most vital relationship to our eternal existence. Sin had separated us from Him, blinded us, and distorted the image of God in us. Our descent downstream led us further and further away from God's loving desire and intentions for us. What we seek now is to be adopted back to our previous relationship and status with Him.

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”

— Romans 8:15

The Bible tells us that when we repent, confess our sins, turn to God, and recognize that the Lamb of God gave Himself to bear our sins on Himself and die on our behalf, we are restored to eternal purposes, position, and provisions we once held.

If you have never considered a relationship with Christ, maybe now would be a great time to do so before we move along into the beauty and benefits of being His beloved child.

"Without Christ, we were out of harmony with God; life was all about self, and we were driven to use people, things, and circumstances to meet our needs. In Christ we are in harmony with God; for us as believers, life should be all about the One who has already fully met our needs"

— Kenneth Boa "Conformed to His Image"

For those of us who have already done so, we are on our way back upstream to the purposes and intentions that He has had for us all along. That purpose is to be dearly loved children of His (Eph 5:1).

This journey will require the renewal of our minds in the revelation of His truth, sustaining a relationship of faith in Him, and prayer. In doing this, we are returning to the source of the living eternal waters from which we were spawned so that we might be able to comprehend that love and get back to where we came from so that that the image of the glory of God might shine through us once again. We have forgotten who we are and where we have come from.

"The mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints.

To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery [including] the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."

— Colossians 1:26-27

May He reveal to us those things that have been hidden from our eyes. The truth that we are forgiven, noticed, wanted, and, most of all, loved.

Hello, sevenme. I am glad for the Pinterest redirection. : )

I didn't address the "curse" partly because I saw it as more consequential. But your thoughts on this really capture more than I had even considered. I too had thought that the consequential piece to Eve's actions was more along the lines of oppressive male leadership but you have added an element that is very fitting.

My own personal journey certainly included taking responsibility for my own role in a lot of the jaded relational issues I had engaged in at that point in my life.

Thank you for reading and adding so much thoughtful input to this conversation.

sevenme on April 01, 2020:

Thanks for your article, found my way here by a pinterest misdirection???

In addition to acceptance, affection, and belonging, as you say, I'd also add that women are looking to be cherished. The world tells us again and again that we are crazy to ask for that. As you say, we find that to be elusive in the natural world. When we begin to believe the lie, that we can't be cherished, we begin to look for, and settle for, the next best thing.

You're very perceptive that Eve's mistake was to turn her head and think her fulfillment was going to come from somewhere else (I think you say this in one of the later hubs, I'm going to have to go and find that quote). You didn't mention the curse on Eve: "Your desire will be for your husband, and he will lord it over you…" For the longest time, I didn’t know what that meant... it sort of gave me a picture of wife-beating, which happens… but now I think it also means that women will do anything to get noticed, even if it means being 50-something and pole dancing in a halftime show… we no longer believe anyone will truly cherish us, so we settle for what we can get… and then, in the final humiliation, we even celebrate it… But enough of the bad news, I can pray for those ladies...

I haven't read the final hub in this series, but I have the sense that going THROUGH the Cross, WITH Jesus, is how we drive a "stake" (to use a strange analogy) right through that curse, and break it. And when we completely give up our misdirected desires, we break that curse...

shofarcall on January 02, 2013:

Oh, how true is that....I turned to the only one who can satisfy. I said something similar in my hub "The Miracle Birth" about my relationship with the only one who can satisfy. Blessed by your hubs dear sister

Tamarajo (author) on January 02, 2013:

Hello shofarcall, This particular series is reflective of my personal journey of discovering my position in Him that led to huge freedom in my life. I released my expectations from others who I had essentially idolized and turned to the only one who can satisfy. I am still learning and digesting myself.

Blessed as always by your visits and comments.

shofarcall on January 01, 2013:

Wow, what an uplifting hub! So much information and revelation there that I don't want to say too much because it needs to be digested. Yes, we all long for restoration. The sound track was fantastic too! Thank you Tamarajo for sharing this with us all, even though I come in very late on this hub. Taking some time to dip in to your hubs every now and then.

DeBorrah, thank you, I am glad you were encouraged by the revelation of His incredible love for us through the sacrifice for our sins that we may return to fellowship and relationship with the one who created us.

We all want to be back where we belong and the only way to get there is through Him.

I appreciate your encouraging visit and thoughtful comment.

Elder DeBorrah K Ogans on May 12, 2011:

Tamarjo, BEAUTIFUL! Wonderful encouraging spiritual insight! We are indeed precious in the sight of the LORD! Not because of who we are but because of HIM! HE loved us enough to allow His only Begotten to die for the sins of the world. This marvelous unselfish sacrifice redeemed us from the curse of sin and death! In HIM we can discover our self worth... In this we can ALWAYS REJOICE!

Fantastic example of the trout! PRAISE GOD because of Christ we are “headed back upstream!” Thank you again for sharing these marvelous encouraging excerpts from the conference presentation! In HIS Love, Grace, Joy, Peace & Blessings!

Hi christicue, That is so true that more we know Him the deeper we go and the more desirable He becomes. I found this experience to be true.

I loved the revelation of understanding that God's plan and intention for our lives was not discarded in the Garden event. they were safely hidden in that intimate relationship with Him through the forgiveness of sins and the healing of our souls in Christ. It was this understanding that began my journey back to where I belong.

I appreciate your visit and your insightful commentary.

Christi C. from Franklin, TN on April 23, 2011:

Hi tamarajo, what a great hub! I can't wait to read the rest. I love how you used the picture of the trout to demonstrate our desire to return to God. It's amazing how the closer you get to Him and the more you know Him the deeper that desire becomes and the more the longing to be with Him where He is increases. I'm going to be swimming all the way home!! Thanks for this great hub of love!

Yes drpastorcarlotta, Our position as King's Daughters is a powerful and influential one.

I liked your response to the young man's question. I think if men understood the plans and purposes God has for the female half of the human equation they too would greatly benefit from our spiritual wellness and development. I know many who do and are supportive and once in awhile run into those who wish more to oppress.

I am glad you have discovered and are living in the royalty He has bestowed upon you.

Blessed by your enthusiasm and input. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! I had a young man questioned me about being a woman Pastor. I explained to him, I was invited to the wedding and I accepted the invitation, therefore I spreads the Gospel as He has commanded us to do and I chose to become a Pastor.

Then I said,"I am not going to go to hell for it, am I?" The man just stared at me. Be all you can be for JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love it! Voted-uP! Missed you!

Thank you Skye for your gracious commentary and for sharing the article. I am happy that you were blessed by the message and I hope Many women will return to the one and only lover of their souls and reclaim their position as King's Daughters.

It thrills me too that God's plan has not changed. He still has a plan and purpose just like He did in the garden.

I have been so very blessed by your visit and complimentary comments.

Dave thank you this is true about the value of women. I think if both male and female recognized the value of each ones created purpose in relationship with God, much conflict could be eliminated.

I think both men and women deal with esteem issues especially when out of relationship with God but I think men and women express and live that out it in different ways.

I am grateful for your visit and I appreciate your input on this topic.

Voice, Exactly, We were created in His image and sin and shame distorted that image and that image went dormant or dead in us but Jesus came to resurrect that image of God in us that we might once again be a powerful force of dominion on the earth. Not just women but men.

I am happy to see men gleaning from the message as well because it really is applicable to us all.

It is a heartfelt message because it is the personal revelation in my own life. Thank you for recognizing that.

I'm always so blessed by your visit and thoughtful comments.

Rev Lady, so blessed to have you back : )

I think it is true that women are oppressed in the area of esteem. The study was born from personal experience concerning this issue. I spent a life time of searching for this significance in so many destructive ways which only magnified the deep insecurities that only God could heal.

I know there is much in the world to try to boost the esteem of women that we might feel better about ourselves but I hope in this study that God will be glorified in the revelation that He really is the only fulfillment of this need.

Thank you for thank your reading voting and your encouraging comment.

Sister Tamarajo, outstanding and beautiful hub. Your writing is based on your feelings and belief, and they line up with the Word of God. The scriptures you quoted are right on time, you are truly gifted of God. You are correct we are trying to get back to the position we had with God in the Garden of Eden. All mankind before Salvation had and has a void in their soul, because we were created in God's Image, we need God in our soul and hearts. Thank you for this hub, you have truly blessed me. God Bless You! I love you in the Lord.

An excellent presentation Tamarajo. It affirms the value and worth of women in the light of our God. For too long we were oppressed under the lies of the evil one and the pride of man. We are daughters of the King. There is no greater honor and no greater self-esteem booster. Voted up and awesome!

Your description of the trout getting back to the origin of where they were spawmed is very descriptive and fitting for the trout knows instinctly that they must return to the orginal place of birth. Many die in their effort to regain lost ground.

It is a beautiful thought that woman who was born daughter of the geatest King falls into sin would strive to regain her lost position.

Thank you for your wonderful insight. Blessings.
