Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj became the greatest saint of modern times. Although he had a special presence in Vidarbha, he traveled not only in Maharashtra but all over the country and preached spiritual, social and national unity.

Tukadoji Maharaj was born on April 30th, 1909 in the village of Yavali Shaheed in the Amravati district of Maharashtra. As Vithoba of Pandharpur is the deity of his family, he developed a passion for meditation, bhajan and pujan from his childhood. He dropped out of school after finishing his education.

Tukdoji Maharaj's full name was Manik Bandoji Ingle. He is known as Rashtrasant. He effectively used bhajans and kirtans to eradicate superstition and caste discrimination. He expressed the idea of ​​self-control through the granth Gram Gita. He has written bhajans in Marathi and Hindi. Tukadoji Maharaj In 1935, he established Gurukunj Ashram at Mozari (Maharashtra). Tukadoji Maharaj was a great saint of modern times. Adkoji Maharaj is his guru. He changed his original name Manik from his guru Adkoji Maharaj to Tukdoji. Not only that, he went to a country like Japan and gave a message of cosmopolitanism to all. He was arrested for some time during the Quit India Movement of 1942. "Aate hai nath hamare" was the motto, he composed during this period.

Tukadoji Maharaj believed and thought that if India is a country of villages, rural development will lead to development of the nation. He was constantly worried about how people from all walks of life would be saved. Rural development and rural welfare seemed to be the focal point of his ideology. He had a good idea of ​​the condition of villages in India. Therefore, he gave a basic idea of​​various problems of rural development and also suggested solutions on how to solve those problems. These measures were beneficial not only to his time but also to later times.

The establishment of the Gurukunj Ashram at Mozari near Amravati is a significant milestone in Tukadoji's life, as is the writing of Gram Geeta. The Gram Gita is a fulfillment of Tukdoji Maharaj's literary service.

The measures suggested by Tukadoji Maharaj on how to make the village self-sufficient proved to be very effective. He wanted the village to be well educated, cultured, village industries to prosper, the village itself to meet the needs of the country, village industries to be encouraged, the village to get leadership in the form of preachers. It is reflected in the Gram Geeta. He worked tirelessly for the eradication of godlessness and old superstitions.

Interfaith harmony was also a feature of this Rashtrasantha's ideology. For this, Tukdoji Maharaj insisted on community and multi-religious prayers.

Tukadoji Maharaj created awareness among the people

Tukadoji Maharaj used to advocate monotheism from a conscientious point of view. He had cracked down on unnecessary rituals in religion. Towards the end of his life, he carried out spiritual, social and national awakening by propagating the ideology he intended through his effective khanjiri bhajan.

He was imprisoned for participating in the freedom movement. At the all-India level, he founded the Sadhusanghat. By establishing branches of Gurukunj Ashram, he created a panel of disciplined social workers. All these loyal activists associated with Gurukunja are still carrying out their work with integrity.

He convinced the society through his kirtans how family system, social system, national system depends on women. Therefore, he very effectively proved how unjust it is to keep a woman in ignorance and slavery.

The youth of the country are the future pillars of the nation. They should be strong so that they can protect the society and the nation. Tukdoji wrote instructive writings on how to be righteous and cultured. This Rashtrasantha strongly condemned addiction through his writings.

There is a beautiful combination of worldly and otherworldly in the literature of Tukdoji Maharaj. He wrote extensively in Hindi as well as Marathi. After hearing his khanjiri bhajan at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Rajendra Prasad addressed Tukadoji Maharaj as Rashtrasant. Tukadoji Maharaj passed away on Ashwin Krishna Panchami Shake 1890 i.e. October 31st, 1968.

The work of disseminating the thoughts of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj is done by the All India Shri Gurudev Seva Mandal. Gram Gita is his famous book on village development. Apart from this, the book Laharki Barkha written in Hindi is also famous.

Till the last breath of his life, he carried out spiritual, social and national awakening by propagating the ideology he intended through his effective khanjiri bhajan.

The Indian Postal Department has also honored him by publishing a commemorative stamp. In his honor, Nagpur University was renamed as "Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University."
