Two Resurrection

"The sea gave up the dead that were in it and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death."

Revelation 20:13-14 NIV

The given passage speaks of the two groups of the dead. This event will take place during the White Throne Judgement, an event to take place after the Millennium(the Millenial Kingdom of Christ) and prior to the New Heaven and New Earth. The first group of the dead are given up by the sea and the second group of the dead are delivered by the death and hades. Daniel, the prophet, had written about two groups of people to be resurrected at the end of time. It is written in Daniel 12:2;

"Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt."

In the passage above, the sea may refer to a temporary place where the souls of the forgiven dead are temporarily held. This forgiven dead may refer to those believers in Christ who died after the Harpazo or Rapture until the end of Christ Millenial reign except those who have been martyred during the Tribulation Period. The tribulation saints, those who have been martyred for their faith in Christ during the seven-year Tribulation period will be resurrected after the Tribulation Period and they will reign with Christ in His Millennial Kingdom.

It is written in Revelation 20:4;

"And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the Word of God. They had not worshipped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

The rest of the believers( did not receive the mark of the beast) who died during the Tribulation Period but are not martyred and have died due to disasters brought about by the seals, trumpets, bowls judgement will be resurrected after the Millennium as it is written in Revelation 20:5;

"The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand year were ended."

The death and Hades is a temporary place of torment where the souls of the wicked dead are held temporarily. These wicked dead are those unbelievers who lived from the time of Adam and Eve until the end of Christ Millennial Kingdom. At the end of the Millennium, they will be resurrected to be subjected to the great White Throne Judgement. They will be found guilty and thus they will be thrown to the "Lake of Fire" as written in Revelation 21:8;

"But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars - they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.

After the Rapture many will be left behind. Many of them will become true believers of Christ during the Tribulation Period. A great number of these believers will be martyred for their faith. They will be resurrected after the Tribulation Period and will reign with Christ in His Millennial Kingdom. Still a great number of these believers will die due to the various catastrophic disasters that will take place during Tribulation. They will be resurrected after the Millennium prior to the New Heaven and New Earth.

All the true believers in Christ from the time of the apostles until the Harpazo who make up the Bride of Christ will be resurrected during the Harpazo or the Rapture before the seven year Tribulation Period. They will reign with Christ in the Millennium. Some Old Testament saints have already been resurrected after Christ resurrection. The rest of the Old Testament saints will be resurrected after the Tribulation Period prior to the Millennium.

The first resurrection refers to the resurrection of the righteous dead. The second resurrection refers to the resurrection of the wicked dead. Second death refers to the Lake of Fire which is the final destiny of all those who are not saved whose names are not found written in the Lamb's Book of Life. The Book of Life contains the list of all those who are delivered from the Lake of Fire.

How to be written in the Lamb's Book of Life:

It is written in Romans 6:23;

"The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."

Our sinful lifestyle will lead us to the Lake of Fire. To receive forgiveness for our sin and the gift of eternal life, we must put our faith in Christ finished work on the cross as the only acceptable sacrifice for the atonement of our sin. Because of our sin, we are condemned to death, the Lake of Fire. But Christ died for us on the cross that we receive pardon for our sin and escape God's judgement and inherit the gift of eternal life. Christ work on calvary is perfect, complete and sufficient for our salvation. It is the only acceptable sacrifice to Father God.

As part of believing in Christ, we must completely yield our life to His Lordship, abandon our sinful life and abide in His light.

This is the promise for all true believers in Christ:

"Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."

This marks the beginning of your relationship with God as Father. This is the most important relationship you can have in your earthly life and the one thing that matters most in eternity.

Be always reminded of this:

"Whoever believes in him, is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

John 3:18

The greatest blessing in this life is that your name be written in the Lamb's Book of Life, more than being included in the list of hall of famers.

Always be reminded of what a popular pastor said; "God is more interested in building our character rather than our comfort and God uses adversities of life to develop virtues in us. Just look at your trials as opportunities to develop strength of character.

Thanks for the advice.

I've already tried sharing my own life experiences & unbelievably they turn that around like I didn't deserve those problems to begin with. . .so where was my God.

I'm going to look up the ones you've mentioned.

Then put my thinking cap on.

To Brenda,

Thanks for giving time to read this hub, it is much appreciated. Thanks also for appreciating this article. If you cannot quote Scriptures, you can share your real life experiences or the life experiences of some great men and women of God who experienced the power of God in times of adversities. Among those great men and women of faith are Corrie Ten Boom, George Mueller, John Wesley. These people exercised great faith and experienced God's work of grace. Blessings to you.

Great article.

I've been having trouble lately with a gew people who don't believe.

It's amazing to me that they can quote the scriptures & turn it all around. Like there is no God.

Any advice on how to turn the tables? I cannot quote the scriptures but I totally believe in God.
