Chakras - Meaning and Significance

Chakras refer to the seven power points of life force in the human body that circulates energy. The meaning of the word 'chakra' is 'wheel of light' or ‘spinning wheel of energy’ in Sanskrit language. These seven important centers of energy are vertically aligned in the center of the body close to the spine. Anamika,

I read that: "Some gemstones associated with the crown chakra are Lavender Quartz, Amethyst and Violet Jasper and can help in healing mental disorders, insomnia etc. Some diseases and conditions associated with the Crown Chakra are Depression, Parkinson's disease, Schizophrenia, Epilepsy and Alzheimer's"

Does the use of the seed mantra of crown chakra help in case of depression?

Thank you very much

The chakra points introduces an amazing science to health. In western medicine, it has lot to do with the physical body. However, in chakra healing, it really demonstrates the holistic aspect of health and its connection to our emotions.

Gaian on March 19, 2010:

I guess that the way to balance the chakras would be to listen to one's soul in how to live, to live in ways that most naturally arise from one's nature. One guide to that is the sensitive atmospheric state of mind that comes as a response to prayer.

MagicStarER from Western Kentucky on January 19, 2010:
