Feelings of frustration and anger.
There was a period in my life when I was feeling frustrated over the way my life was going. I was making little progress towards my goals and I felt as if I was going through one struggle after another. I'm sure a lot of you can relate to the fact that when one thing goes wrong, it appears as if a domino effect takes place: everything starts tumbling down.
I found myself sinking into depression and I felt lost with no sense of direction. Whenever you feel like giving up, whenever life seems unbearable, your blessing is on the way; there's always sun shine and balmy weather after a storm.
So if you feel like you're going through spiritual warfare, a bad break-up, or just have negative people in your life that you feel are trying to tear you down; you let them know you can't be broken easily. Let them know they are dealing with a spirit that refuses to be broken.
Feel your prayer's aren't being answered?
This may sound like a "cliche" but prayers are best answered when they are unselfishly motivated. We serve a God who judges our hearts, know that your motives are always what He sees regardless of what comes out of your mouth. Prayers should never be calculated, even if they are repetitious; Prayers should always be purely motivated. When I pray, I try not to think too hard about what I'm going to say but speak straight from the heart. I take a moment and sit quietly then allow my thoughts to speak. I never become discouraged if my prayers are not answered right away I trust that God always hears and works everything out according to His own timing this allows me to wait in faith.
Refuse to be broken- A poem about perservering through tough times.
When you couldn't relate to me.
Your alternative was to try and break me.
Then you realized my faith was too strong.
You even thought you would
have things your way.
But then again, to your dismay,
You found this out the hard way
My faith was too strong.
You tried to break me.
And then you were hoping.
That you could look down
And see if I had been beaten and broken.
But there are no truer words that will ever be spoken...
You are dealing with a spirit that refuses to be broken!
You tried to tear me in two.
But I mended better than new.
Then you finally knew, my praise was too strong!
You think I'm arrogant.
But that's just more evidence,
You can't handle this.
My praise is that strong.
So you constantly test me.
And I know your just hoping.
That you could look down and see if I
Had been weeping and moping.
But there are no stronger words a pair of lips will have spoken...
You are dealing with a spirit that refuses to be broken!
Are you spending quality time with God?
I've heard many people testify they feel sleepy when they start reading their bible, or they become distracted by people or encounter interruptions. Although you can easily become distracted by the things of the world, make no mistake about it the devil is at work.
Satan is always on his job, and his job is to keep us separated from the love of God and keep us from having a relationship with Him. Satan is at war with the saints the last thing he wants is for you to be saved and then save others.
He is a master of disguises, he is subtle and cunning. He comes to you as a lover, friend, opportunity, even a blessing, and by the time you recognize him you are usually worst off. (1 Peter 4-12 says: " Beloved do not think it strange over the fiery trials in which to try you." In other words, be expected to be tempted by the devil and look at trials and tribulations as your assurance that you are indeed abiding in the vine.
Know that faith without works is dead, and if your faith is not motivating you to witness, uplift and encourage the body of Christ, as well as draw people to Christ through testimonies, then you are no threat to the devil.
How being steadfast in prayer can help you fight spiritual warfare.
In these tough times having a prayer life is more important than ever. The bible in Ephesians 6:12 tells us that We do not struggle against flesh and blood, but against unseen forces and principalities; Satan is real and to underestimate his power is a big mistake.
Nowadays, churches seem to preach more about prosperity and blessings and less about the adversary, catering to our desires to live a rich and prosperous life. This hunger for material wealth, however, leaves us blind as we forget, or never understand why coming together in unity and lifting up prayer's to God is so important.
Some believe when they encounter struggles in life it's simply the way things are. This in part is true, life is hard and always will be, but it's how we deal with that struggle that makes the difference.
Refusing to be broken; Is more of a state of mind than anything else. It's a motivating and empowering tool that speaks to your spirit and say's "No matter what I'm going through, no matter how bad things seem, I will stay strong- I will not break."
I talk to God in the morning when I first wake up. I choose this time because I'm refreshed and my mind is free of clutter. I know that as my day progress I'm going to need God's strength and guidance to get me through the day. Remember you can do all things through Christ who is your strength.
Colossians 4:6 says: to fear nothing, but in all things pray.
Refusing to be broken; is also a good motivating tool for people who walk in fear. Fear of job loss, foreclosure, or loss of a marriage's or relationships. This is a part of life and sometimes even strong prayer will not stop these things from happening. God has promised to not only be our provider but our healer as well. So remember... to fear nothing but make all your requests known through prayer.
Why going to church alone won't save you.
The church is the body of Christ. The disciple's of Jesus work separately, but in unity, to do the work of the Lord. The church is very important, it is a haven for believers to go and worship, uplift, praise, and be fed the word through their pastor. Believers also enjoy singing and dancing as well as fellow-shipping with other brothers and sisters in Christ.
But going to church alone will not earn you a ticket to heaven not without studying and meditating, in God's word. The Holy Spirit's job is to bring believers into the full-knowledge and understanding of God. The Holy Spirit is revealed to us through the studying of the word.
Fruit is produced from believers with the help of the Holy Spirit for the glory of God. To be fruitful believers must stay abided in the vine and the vine is Jesus Christ. When you study the scriptures they will become embedded in your heart and the Holy Spirit will bring scriptures to your remembrance when they are needed to encourage and uplift you or anyone else.
Also, it is very effective for fighting Satan and his demons in spiritual warfare. Studying and understanding Gods word is the only thing that can save you against the wiles of the devil but that type of wisdom doesn't come from your Pastor's understanding, but from your own understanding Of the gospel.
When praises go up! The blessings fall down!
When I attended one particular church I was in a prayer meeting and the church started to praise. Well at this time I was still a babe in Christ so I guess another member felt I wasn't praising hard enough. She came to me and said: "Start jumping up and down!' I left that day feeling like I didn't have what it takes to be a true worshiper. Then, I heard these words in my heart. "You praise, you just do it differently than everyone else!"
I had been writing poetry and songs for the Lord but I wasn't at the level where I was truly praising out loud. I felt defeated and discouraged because I focused on the way other's praised instead of my own. True praise came when I formed a intimate and loving bond with Jesus. I was so thirsty for Him that I prayed and studied my bible constantly; as I drew closer to Him my heart changed.
Sometimes we can feel defeated when we don't praise the way others do. But it's important not to fake worship. True worship comes from a deep, intimate, relationship with the Lord. If you continue to seek Him with a pure heart and all diligence, true praise will come from the heart. The Lord knows your heart. He can see real praise, and desires pure worshiper's. Soon you will be jumping up and down as you discover a deep penetrating love that's truly satisfying.
The inner battle of self-condemnation.
Satan will work through self-condemnation.
Self-condemnation are negative thoughts that will keep you in a vicious cycle of defeat. This little voice in your head will sometimes tell you, you are worthless, not good enough, a failure and will constantly remind you of your past mistakes; it's a vicious cycle that will keep you trapped in a bondage of pain and shame.
Some people feel they are unworthy of God's love, or need to "clean" themselves up before coming to an all perfect creator. This is not true; Jesus says to come as we are. We cannot be perfect on our own, but we are made righteous through the blood of Jesus Christ. When God sees us He does not see our failures and mistakes, He sees the precious blood of His son.
Many people, even saved people are miserable. They are miserable because despite of Jesus's finished work on the cross they are still trying to please God on their own through works and self-effort. Trying to be righteous on our own will only makes us self-righteous and this can make us miserable. It has already been proven we cannot be perfect through our own efforts (Ten Commandments) we are made perfect through the blood and the gift of grace. We must truly believe in our hearts that we are saved by grace and not works; otherwise, the devil can always use our imperfections to keep us in bondage.

The evangelist's at my church are fond of saying...
"New level, new devil." It's So true. Although, it's one devil and legions of demons. (but we know what they mean.)
He never promised us the road would be easy only to never leave us nor forsake us. I appreciate your prayers that I won't let go of His hand and I promise to hold on tight. No matter how hard it gets I know He is my refuge in the storm.
I thank the Lord, for His saints. We are in this together, keeping one another encouraged as we wait in hope. Therefore, Jack my friend and brother in Christ, I say thank you.
P.S. I'm going to read the scripture: 2nd. Corinthians: 4,8 & 9. And let the Word speak.
Jack Jenn from Nelson Bay NSW Australia. on July 26, 2019:
I'm sorry to hear of your struggles and if the truth be known, there are probably more and you're not alone in this, they happen to all of us from time to time. And it will continue to be so as he steps up the war against us, things will only get worse before it gets better.
It will only get better the day He takes us home.
Dana, one of the things we all should do after making our choice for Jesus is to be a help unto others and I haven't read all your posts but each time I've read one there has always been a particular message for me. So I hope in a small way I can be a help to you, which brings a couple of verses in scripture to mind that may be timely for you.
2nd. Corinthians 4: 8, 9 says: We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.
I appreciate your honesty in the struggle and we need to remember there can be some cracks in our armour from previous battles and must be repaired as soon as they become noticed because Satan too is observing us and is quick to take advantage whenever he sees an opening. By neglecting to repair the armour, it can result in a mortal wound.
But we have a father and a son who are both watching over us - neither of whom will forsake us as long as we cling to them and my prayer for you is that you won't ever let go of His hand - He won't ever let go of yours.
Faith is such a fragile thing, while ever things are good and stable it's easy to maintain but when the storms of life come, it can be so easily distracted - and that happens to all of us, just remember the promise that is at the end of all this.
I'm glad to have made your acquaintance and your friendship Dana.
Again and always, my best regards,

Jack--- Thank you for your beautiful and inspirational comment. The Lord is good! I needed to hear this message right now. Jack, Satan has been attacking my finances and I have been discourage.
I have been praying but truthfully, its been a struggle. Your comment reminded me that my hope is in the Lord, and not this world. Yes, Satan tried to drag me into a pity-party reminding me of my constant troubles and struggles. I had to remind him how the Lord, has always seen me through otherwise, I would not be standing.
I wrote this poem along time ago and it's remarkable how the Holy Spirit used you to choose this hub to comment on. Oh, the wonderful works of God!
Jack, thank you, my friend, for allowing the Holy Spirit to use you to lift my spirits today. He touched your spirit and you obeyed His voice and I appreciate you for that.
All blessings to you.

A truly beautiful message and I hope that many will read it and benefit by it.
As I read it I found myself reading it as if I was saying it - because every sentence had something I could and was relating to in it.
I cannot pick one sentence as a stand out that I could comment on - everything that you said (and probably more) had a particular meaning for me and I'm so very sure it will resonate with others.
There are none that believe as we do who won't suffer Satan's attacks and as the day draws closer he will step up his attacks. And he is the worst enemy we could have because he is invisible and he attacks us by stealth, which makes him a coward of the lowest order.
Scripture tells us there are none without sin, and will continue to be so but we all have a choice - either to refuse or give in to whatever sin afflicts each and everyone of us. But God knows our weaknesses and He has given us a way of escape through Jesus, the trick is recognising the attacks as quickly as you can and stamp on it hard. The longer you give in to whatever the desire is, the harder it is to escape and it all comes down to choice - a moment of fanciful desire now will never come, even remotely close to what is promised. Satan is very quick to remind us of our past, so remind him of his future, he hates that.
Thank you for your post Dana, you did it beautifully.
Again my best regards,

PegCole 17. I was listening to a gospel talk- radio the other day and a woman called in and said. " I'm so sick of hearing about Satan all the time. I wish everyone would stop it!' I feel we don't talk about him enough; and when we do we down play him as this monster with fangs and a pitchfork and its almost comical. But Satan is not a joke he is a spirit who plants bad thoughts in us and people we deal with. Most people feel they just have bad luck. Most never think they could be going through a spiritual warfare. Thank you for reading and commenting.

Satan is real and if we invite him into our lives he will prevail. I loved your prose here.

Jo; As always your generosity is very appreciated. Sometimes we don't know how strong we are until we are in the midst of a storm. I have learned In my many struggles, the only way you won't be broken by life, is if you choose not to be.
Jo_Goldsmith11 on January 04, 2015:
this is my second time I am reading this, first comment. I just want to thank you for writing this. It really is a great testimony of how walking with God, instead of going it alone. Will really help the person to get through the storms of life.
I so relate to being around "negative people". I loved your poem, the quotes and the way you have beautifully written this from start to finish.
A blessing it is to read. Shared, tweet and up she goes. :-)

Hi Dana, these are words to live by "refuse to be broken" no matter what the climate is, gird up with the whole armor. This is an exhortation and edification to stand strong. Thanks for sharing this, it is very opportune and a timely word. Storms are real and so is spiritual warfare!
