RELIGION How it HELPS or Impairs Mental Stability
Christianity is much more than just a religion! It is so much more than a social club. In general, for many, religion has turned into a manufactured system where rules are dictated, regulated and policies are made. Quite often there is an ever increasing list of do’s and dont's to conform to, which sometimes go so far as to require a staunch or restrictive dress code. Often actually forsaking the Power of the HOLY SPIRIT'S ability to transform the individual’s life from the inside out! The Holy Spirit is the ultimate Spiritual Guide and Teacher. The Word of God teaches us that true worshipers worship the Father “In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!” John 4.
Keep in mind that the LORD is the most HIGH GOD who desires to continually transform the lives of devoted believers and reach out to the world. Above Him is no other. Without the Lord one is disconnected and is but a wretched lost human being, living aimlessly in the flesh without promise of eternal life.
Once we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior we then have purpose and are adopted into the family of God. We embark upon a life of becoming enlightened, spiritual growth and being renewed as we apply His godly principles to our own lives. The Promise of Eternal Life waits as we grow spiritually realizing that we are forever “becoming…” As long as there is breath in the body there is Hope. NEVER underestimate the POWER of the LORD. “What is impossible with man is POSSIBLE WITH GOD!
God intended for Christianity to be a daily lifestyle centered on and around Him. His Son Christ Jesus is His Living Word. His Holy Spirit, The Comforter are ALL an AWESOME OMNIPOTENT ONE! Christianity consists of the process by which we can learn the origins of man and draw closer to our Creator and Governor of the universe! We can discover more about the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and commence to live life to daily please the LORD.
It is the “GOOD NEWS GOSPEL!” The central tenet in the Christian Faith is our belief in JESUS CHRIST and HIS WORD. He actually was God incarnate within sinless human flesh. The world was spoken into existence through Jesus! He actually became the WORD wrapped in flesh! “In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with GOD, and the WORD was GOD. He was with GOD from the beginning. Through HIM ALL things were made; without HIM nothing was made that has been made. In HIM was life, and that life was the LIGHT of men...” John 1. Acceptance of Him as Lord and Savior is a definite requirement for all Christians. He reconciles us to the Most High God and gives us the gift of Salvation, His Holy Spirit and the inheritance of Eternal life. It is not of ourselves but only by HIS GRACE CAN we be SAVED!
Let’s take a momentary glance into the secular perception of religion from a widely respected source. Dr. Sigmund Freud who is well known for his psychoanalytical theories, perspective on religion says:” Religious faith produces a repression of impulses and thus keeps the personality secure at the expense of honesty.” He is recognized as the father of “Psychoanalysis.” He also developed many of the concepts in *Psychology.” It is here the mind and behaviors are studied.
“Psychology is the study of the mental processes and behavior. The term psychology comes from the Greek word psyche meaning "breath, spirit, soul" and the logia meaning "study of." Psychology emerged from biology and philosophy and is closely linked to other disciplines including sociology, medicine, linguistics and anthropology”
Freud believed that the actual drive-oriented nature is overlooked because the aspect of human nature has long been suppressed by religion. People in their insecurity begin to look for a cosmic father in order to compensate for their feelings of inferiority and insecurity. Freud also believed that religious activities are rituals of compulsive behavior that are employed to temporarily ease the intense guilt feelings that are fostered by religion. Likewise Christians neurotically try to free themselves of guilt feelings by performing religious rituals. Freud also maintains that the dependency fostered by religion causes infantile regression.
Much to my dismay there is a minuscule element of truth in what Freud believed in regards to religion. I do not personally embrace his theories of psychology. But many do hide behind the guise of religion. There is a tendency to project a façade where things appear to be alright. They often go along with the majority and conform in order to feel connected to their particular group but remain insecure within themselves as an individual... There is often much ambivalence and unrest in their conscious relationship to God personally. They feel distant from Him trying to fill the inner void with some of everything!
You truly can become content in the Lord! But know this is easier said than done for some. It will require dedication and perseverance.
Whenever the soul is not really anchored in the LORD; the philosophies in regards to the origins of man becomes a playground for answers.
Whenever GOD is not the center of religion one can regress into this sea of uncertainty. Nothing is infallible and there is much doubt as to what has already been proven to be true. Every book written by man is questionable. What was wrong becomes right and therefore one becomes polluted by the world. The world continues to migrate further and further away from God as Creator and the principles of His Word. Many religious folks modify His Word to adjust to the current desires of society. Instead of the Church setting the standard they embrace the traditions of the world. We can learn much from the Word of God. When His principles are abandoned there is a downward shift in the overall moral standards.
The Bible does not ever contradict itself! The New Testament has fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament. We are all under Grace! There is no other book like the Bible. It was scribed by the hands of inspired God fearing men under the direction of the Lord. It is an extraordinarily remarkable library of infallible spiritual wisdom that is inclusive of 66 books. It cannot be fully grasped by the intellectual mind alone. One must solicit the Holy Spirit to intervene and illuminate the significant meanings of its plethora of Scriptures. Amazingly so, it is also the greatest ever all time best seller!
In order to not be lead astray it is important to know for yourself what the Word of God says. We as Christians believe and accept the TRUTH of GOD'S WORD by FAITH! This is why we are called “Believers.” When Christians follow the ways of the world rather than embrace the Word they usually have not actually taken the time to build an up close personal intimate “one on one” relationship with the Lord. Rather than stand firm they waiver and adapt to the current trends.
It is only with the Lord can one discover true “Security & Significance!” There is a tendency to encourage focusing on the outer rituals and traditions rather than to intrinsically search within to see where the true problem lies to resolve any inner conflict. The inner anxiety or unresolved issues can then become ongoing baggage that is carried throughout life producing anxiety and or depression when it is not addressed. God wants us to become whole in Him! He wants us to take responsibility for our actions and take a stand for our rights. He wants to write His laws upon our hearts!
Inner Peace is truly attainable. It can be experienced when one readily repents (turns from) any wrong behavior and moves forward toward the Lord… God does not want us bogged down in guilt nor shackled to any uncivilized or inappropriate behavior. He wants us to be FREE! There are very good reasons why He has said DO NOT do some things! The world says do as you please. God wants us to become disciplined. A disciple o Christ is a learner of His ways! God wants to deliver us from whatever hinders us from growing spiritually and becoming all that He created us to be He wants us to; “Take My yoke upon you and learn of me. For I am gentle and humble of heart and you will find rest for your soul…” Matthew 11. This is why He has given us JESUS CHRIST to “SAVE” us from the power of sin reigning within our daily lives! GOD IS MORE THAN ABLE!
Jesus died to take upon Himself the sins of the world and make it possible for us to become directly reconnected back to GOD. Sin had widened the abyss between God and man. The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit are One. Jesus His only begotten Son humbled Himself to come to earth. He was Absolutely Divine! Shaped in the image of GOD in the form of a baby growing up to be a man marvelously wrapped in sinless flesh. He overcame sin, death and the grave for us because He loved us so! Christ Jesus bridged the gap between God and man and He actually became the only "PERFECT" example in eer way!
Christ Jesus arose with ALL power and took away the sting of death and sin. His Holy Spirit is our Comforter! We can now go straight to GOD wherever we are at anytime. He knows everything past, present and future about everyone and everything. This is why we all need Jesus Christ as Savior and LORD! He can and will make a significant difference in our life! You do not have to live a sin filled guilt ridden life. There is marvelous miraculous cleansing POWER in the PRECIOUS BLOOD of CHRIST JESUS! GOD wants an up close and personal daily relationship with each one of us. He wants to be a part of every area of our lives. We were created for HIS GLORY! Now that’s TRUE LOVE!
Prayer is communication with GOD and we need to regularly spend quality time with Him. His Word tells us in I Thessalonians 5; “Pray without ceasing, give Thanks in ALL circumstances, for this is God’s Will for you in Christ Jesus.” This is a continual mode of interacting and engaging with the Lord. It is a state of mind being aware of God. We are able to consistently become more cognizant of a deeper awareness of HIS OMNIPRESENCE! There is nowhere we can go that God is not there...
As the people of GOD, there must be a growing daily focus on our personal relationship with the LORD that becomes more and more natural. We are able to grow spiritually each day. The purpose of life is to prepare us for eternity. Adoration, Worship and Praise continues on throughout eternity!
God’s Church is collectively all over the world made up of a diverse multiplicity of people of all races, ages, colors and creeds that believe and embrace His Word! Whenever are wherever we come together and assemble as His Church we will be much more effective when we have spent time with Him throughout the week. Know we the people are His Cuhrch. Not the building. For it is a place that has been dedicated for His CHurch as we as unbelievers to gather for worship, praise & prayer.
We are to apply His principles to our own lives and allow Him to guide us as He works out the kinks and wrinkles within our lives. Life is about becoming “perfected” which means to become completed in Him! We can invite Him into the "Messiness" of our lives. God wants us to have His Peace. We can or should be; be "in the world but not of the world." In Him alone can we find wholeness. We can also worship Him more freely as we draw near to Him! Worship becomes a part of our daily lifestyle.
I truly believe that it is the intentions of many to have God’s will done in their lives. However, all to often the desire to please man and to be accepted often supersedes the spiritual responsibility to be led by the Spirit. Man nor (wo)man was never meant to take the place of God. This is why it is important to embrace God's Omnipresence. God is absolutely aware of everything for He alone is Omniscient. It is important to seek Him above all else. Allowing people, situations and anything else get in between you and God the Creator disrupts inner peace This is where the conflict lies…
We live in a Spiritual Warzone
There is much spiritual warfare designed to entice believers away from God and to keep non believers from embracing God personally and intimately. We learn in Genesis that God created us in His own image. ( I don’t mean looking like Him) We are mind, body and soul. In essence we are spiritual and relational beings. We have been created for God’s purpose. Until we arrive at the point that helps us realize just that, we can often unconsciously create more adversity and anxiety in our lives trying to adapt and please man. This in turn can and will at times create a mental deficiency because the deep void remains. This void can be filled by many things… But they never will really quite satisfy. God has created a space within us that only He can fill! Ideally speaking; Did you know that if we were all following the Lord we truly would really be on one accord. There would also be a lot less schisms, splits and division within the Body of Christ!
"God is not the Author of confusion. But of Peace, as in all churches..."Thessalonians 14
Religion ritualistically practiced often focuses on the exterior. Encouraging others to worship in a way they deem appropriate by their denomination, non denomination, independent group, clique or cult. at a certain time rather than ascertain a truly intimate relationship with the Lord. Some tell you when to clap, when to raise your hands, even when to shout and when to fellowship? What do you mean? A few examples. If you are too quiet you can be perceived as standoffish and unemotional. If you don’t speak in tongues you don’t have the Holy Spirit. If you wear makeup you are being carnal… If you don’t pay tithes… If you give a lot you are trying to impress... If you don't do everything you are told, If you do not wear long dresses or cover your head… If you don’t come to the service every Sunday… If you don't attend Bible Study... If you shout and pray loud you are... If you are quite emotional it can be perceived as being more spiritual… If you are… Lord Help Us!
Sometimes you need to just close your eyes and focus upon the Lord. "Be still and Know!" Find something or someone to look upon in worship; although you are really not looking at it or them. You merely want to focus your attention upon the Lord inwardly. However you want to be careful because some of everything can happen within or during worship in these last days so you want to be mindful of who and what is going on all around. Stay in a "Pray without ceasing" mode. Pray for those in attendance as well. The tares are also present when you worship. It is good when you worship with someone who you are on one accord with. You can do so freely when you both are on one accord because you know that the Lord is in the midst... Knowing the Word is always Good!
The point is worship is personal and the objective of our worship should always be to worship the LORD. Whether in private or publicly. Everyday is a day to worship and praise the Lord. Everyday is day to spend time with the Lord in His Word. We know not when our Lord is going to return. The wonderful thing about God is HE KNOWS ALL of our hearts! God wants you to be the best You! He does not what us to conform to man. He wants our minds to be transformed and renewed by HIS WORD. Conforming to be accepted can leave one with an even greater void. It is important to know that God really is always with us. The Word tells us the proper way to worship God is to be led by His Holy Spirit! Remember! “GOD is a SPIRIT and HIS TRUE worshipers worship HIM in SPIRIT and in TRUTH!” John 4.
In many cases it is not said in an audible language, yet there is a penalty for not adhering to what is expected, sometimes resulting in labeling or alienation. Many are far few and in between that have truly experienced the unconditional Love that is so often spoken of. However there often is a cultic acceptance within the core group. This is nothing new, way back when even the Samaritans, Gentiles and Jews differed in their concept of worship. This is why we currently in this 21st century have so many denominations, non denominations and varied places of worship. The majority of their origins are a systemic form of division, discontentment and or someone being expelled from their group then deciding to start something different. Some groups are quite cultic. Starting more and more congregations is not the answer. All mankind is subject to err. God has only One Church. He is not coming back for a building... So it is important to know the Word for yourself. It is important that your chosen place of worship does not usually compromise the Word of God. Know that ultimately God who is Love is really the only source of unconditional Love. HE LOVES us because HE is LOVE! GOD'S LOVE IS ETERNAL. It is in HIM you can experience TRUE LOVE, inner fulfillment and HIS PEACE! Spend time each day growing closer to the Lord! The LORD has a purpose and plan just for you...

Elder DeBorrah K Ogans (author) on June 24, 2012:
Bob, ( Nobody) I do truly believe that Christianity was designed to be a “Lifestyle!” Meaning it is a daily way of living! There are so many types of religion… As I stated earlier within this series in the Book of James we are taught the Religion aspect of Christianity! It is a component of Christianity where by we are told to look after those who are in need as well as to “Keep ourselves unspotted from the world.” There are so many marvelous facets of being a Christian! It is an ongoing lifelong Spiritual Journey!
You are right “works” do not save us they display our FAITH! Yes as you stated; “God looks at our hearts!” No need to apologize for expressing strongly how you feel. I know that you truly Love the Lord and sincerely desire to dispel the many myths and erroneous mindsets that drive many away from the Lord rather than draw them closer! We are on one accord.. Much Love to You my brother in the Lord! Thank You as always for sharing your insight! Be ENCOURAGED! May our Heavenly Father continue to Bless & Keep You in Jesus Name! In HIS Love Grace, Joy, Peace & Blessings!
Pastor Dr Carlotta Boles from BREAKOUT MINISTRIES, INC. KC on June 23, 2012:
Hello precious and Blessings! I love it when you stated: "Church has become a self-help social club. Even churches that serve the Lord are constantly in danger of becoming this alternative to the gym, or yoga, or the book club discussing Oprah's latest book. God indwells saved believers. He operates from within them to be one entity in the church group and in the worldwide body of Christ. The danger is in individuals who are just focused on themselves. Church community was not made so the individual can self-help, serve the self. Church community was made so that fellowship and community worship can strengthen the body together." YES! I agree!!! PREACH!
Elder DeBorrah K Ogans (author) on June 15, 2012:
Jacobkuttyka, You are so welcome! Thank You for sharing your insight! You are so right it is dangerous, especially when rituals replace developing an intimate relationship with the Lord! YES! The proper way to worship the Lord is "In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!" Lord Help us! in His Love, Grace Joy, Peace & Blessings! God Bless You!
Robert E Smith from Rochester, New York on June 14, 2012:
I see your point about lifestyle. I guess that I was raised in religion. My Jehovah's Witness religion is killing so many of the people I love. Other religions are killing many more. All seem to think they will work their way to heaven. I know the Bible uses the term religion but so many people customize religion to suit them instead of using the Bible as their sole rule of truth and practice. I know that under any one particular label are good people and bad. God really doesn't care about those labels and just looks at the heart. I don't want to tear down what you so carefully are building with the Lord's words, sister. I am truly sorry for speaking my frustration instead of God's words of encouragement. Love you, so much. Bob.
Elder DeBorrah K Ogans (author) on June 14, 2012:
Nobody, If I am hearing you correctly your analogy about the boys is in reference to the competitiveness and immaturity that we can see among God’s Church… I wrote this series on “Religion” because all too often people get confused by the manner in which it is practiced. The confusion causes more anxiety rather than HELP them as GOD intends. God is in the business of HEALING! Regardless as to where they are in life The LORD can reach them if they sincerely desire… HE CAN truly make a difference once they grasp that He is there for them 24/7... My intentions is to encourage others to read the Word of God for themselves to develop an upclose and personal relationship with Him. To draw closer to the Lord apply His principles to their lives and to be led by the SPIRIT of GOD!
I understand your point of view on the term “lifestyle” But I believe that, that is true in terms of the word “walk” as well. We have walkathons for some of everything. People take a walk in the park, in the dark and so many other “walk “ related phrases that have nothing to do with the Lord as well. It really boils to semantics. I embrace Christianity as a “Lifestyle!” It is the manner in which I personally pattern my life with God as the central theme. My style of life centers around Jesus Christ and His WORD! God wants to be a part of every area of our life! I also see myself as “A child of God!” Realizing that God has no grandchildren so no matter how young or old we are we are children in the eyes if GOD. Therefore I believe that as long as He has us on this side of Heaven it is to grow spiritually… When we have completed our life’s journey we pass on to Heaven and live with Him throughout Eternity!
Bob, Thank for sharing your perspective … God has made us all uniquely different and what threads us together is when we truly accept JESUS CHRIST as SAVIOR & LORD! “JESUS is the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE! “
Regardless of the many denominations or non denominations; There is really only One true “Church” body. The body of believers are the Church! It is made up of believers from all over the world, from all walks of life, from a plethora of cultural and diverse ways in which they practice religion some healthier than others... There are many different positions within GOD'S CHURCH… Yet, Jesus Christ is the only Head of His Church!
Again, Thank you my brother in the LORD for sharing your perspective on religion. In HIS Love, Grace, Mercy, Joy, Peace & Blessings! God Bless you!
Jacob from Delhi, India on June 11, 2012:
Thanks for the interesting hub. We need to worship Lord in truth and spirit. Not as per the rituals. Many churches are addicted to rituals rather than the word of God. It is dangerous.
Thanks for sharing it.
Robert E Smith from Rochester, New York on June 07, 2012:
Religion is a group of people getting together like little boys in the bathroom. See how mine is bigger than yours. I'm peeking at yours and you are not as good as me. I realize that is a crass statement but it is as idiotic as that. Most people come to church to show their religion to each other, and not to fellowship to strengthen a walk with God. Very few care enough to dig into why they are there at all. You either are "not religious" or you are "in the church." Where is God in those two philosophies of life?
I resist the term "lifestyle" because that term is used to describe everything from soup to nuts. Anything can become one's lifestyle. God is not a lifestyle. He is a loving Father that takes each child by the hand and leads that person on a unique path. The thing about lifestyles is that none resembles another. Each PERSON strives to make THEIRS different. A Walk with God has some earmark similarities. You can tell the way God's child loves, the way a he refers to the Scripture, the way a he seeks to edify his brother, to save the lost, how they read and love their Bible etc. But religous lifestyle is different. You have Pentacostal, Baptist, Catholic, Protestant that all wear their name tags like they are sitting on a museum shelf on display. People say I know what this is, it's a religious person. They don't say I know what this is, its a child of God. Why? because it is the religion on the nametag and not Jesus. People sit around and create clubs with initiations, uniforms, oaths to be performed, tasks to be assigned, rulers to rule.
God's church, His body, does not work that way. Each person is on a journey with God. They are carefully stepping in Christ's footprints and constantly under attack from the evil one. The pastor/shepherd receives a unique vision for an area and a vision for the group that God will bring to him to be his flock, to care for and help to grow. Each person selected by God to join that church body will begin to interact, exercising their spiritual gifts to strengthen that body to serve the Lord. They will be burdened to pray for each other and to love each other. Each church body is different and each will be uniquely instructed how to worship and express that worship.
Church has become a self-help social club. Church community was made so that fellowship and community worship can strengthen the body together. People today are only interested in themselves and what they can get from their church. If God moves the preacher so that the sermon hits close to home, they leave to go somewhere else so they can have their ears tickled.
A church service that is working, effects people in ways that feel good and others that don't and the true Christian is grateful for it all. They feel useful because they saw others and ministered to them. They feel fed because they were in the word. Their toes hurt because the word convicts and it steps on toes and pricks hearts.
Religion creeping into a church body has to be guarded against. Individuals "playing church" will always be around, but when it starts affecting the whole church, that church is in trouble. Just a few thoughts sister. I love you, bob.
Elder DeBorrah K Ogans (author) on June 01, 2012:
Allen, Thank You! I hear you see where I am coming from! Great! Your statements are powerful! I Luv it! As you well stated: “It seems the church has become tiny pockets of society within themselves, their own codes, rules and regulations creating a divide between themselves and the ones they are supposed to be reaching out to and trying to save...” Amen! This is why it is so important for each of us to develop up close and personal relationships with the Lord and encourage others to do the same.
When we come together; assemble for worship we all can benefit as we "Magnify the LORD!" We make HIM bigger than any issue or problem! This is how the body of Christ matures... The Word is “Alive & Powerful!” The Lord is always speaking we just have to get better at listening and applying His principles to our lives and becoming more spiritually minded and discerning. We are all supposed to be preparing to meet Him face to face…
Thank you so much for stopping by to share your comments are always welcomed and appreciated! In HIS Love, Grace, Joy, Peace & Blessings!

Teaches12345, Thank you for taking the time to stop by, you are so welcome! We have so much to be thankful for in the Lord! Knowing that He really is there for us makes all the difference in the world. Yes indeed He certainly "carries most of the weight" Praise God! & Thank you for sharing your spiritual insight as well.

Gabgirl, You are so welcome! Its Wonderful that you have a great relationship with the Lord! That is a marvelous passage of Scripture from Proverbs, one that all believers should keep in mind. GOD is the ultimate source of TRUST!
I am glad to hear that this has been encouraging! I am also glad that you did not turn away from God because of the way in which you were treated. This was not easy to write and I was prayerful… Your commemts are confirmation so Thank you as well! Too often when someone disagrees with how religion is practiced or a particular doctrine it is treated as though you are against God or labeled unfavorably. My intent here was to reach out far beyond the walls and encourage building a stronger intimate and personal relationship with the Lord. God wants us all to continually grow spiritually as we apply the principles of His Word to our lives! He wants us “WHOLE” not stagnate nor to “lean to our own understanding!” He has given us His precious Holy Spirit as an internal Guide. We are on one accord! I am so glad that this has been helpful and I pray that you continue to seek the will of the Lord for your life and enjoy growing in His Grace, Wisdom & Knowledge.
Thank You for sharing, In HiS Love, Grace, Joy, Peace & Blessings!
Elder DeBorrah K Ogans (author) on May 30, 2012:
Stars, I am so glad that you have been encouraged by this. There is so much to learn from The WORD of God! The more we learn the more there is to learn it is an endless wealth of wisdom. It is important to know that the LORD is everywhere we are. All we have to do is invite Him into whatever is going on about us. He is available 24/7. We in return have to listen and apply His Word to our lives. It is in Him we can discover PEACE even in the midst of a storm…
As you so beautifully stated: “The joy of God's heart is a never ending well spring of a love source that we can all appreciate when we choose to follow our Lord's wonderful desires of us.” Amen! This is why it is so important to spend time with Him each day.
As always Thank You for stopping by to share. By the way we actually had a lovely Memorial Weekend. In HIS Love, Grace, Mercy, Joy, Peace & Blessings! God Bless You!
Allen Werner from West Allis on May 27, 2012:
DeBorrah, this is fantastic. So many religious-minded people need to read this. It seems the church has become tiny pockets of society within themselves, their own codes, rules and regulations creating a divide between themselves and the ones they are supposed to be reaching out to and trying to save. In fact, its like many Churches are in self-preservation mode. They have built walls of rituals to only allow in those willing to obey before even touching their hearts and helping them find some revelation and truth. Peace
Dianna Mendez on May 25, 2012:
thank you for the inspiration today. I always love the story in Matthew 11 as it helps us to understand that we do not have to carry that yoke alone. In fact, he carries most of the weight of that burden.
gabgirl12 on May 24, 2012:
Thank You. I have no issues with God. I trust God. Hey Proverbs 3:5 is a bracelet I wear because I live it. You are right. God is in the business of healing. I've always respected the order of things, and wondered where I went wrong. I'm glad you wrote this hub which is why I thought to comment. It doesn't sugarcoat the truth or hide the uncomfortable aspects of traditional doctrine. God is everywhere, I believe that too, and God knows everything. Thanks for the best advice yet...not to allow this to make me bitter, but better. My body is His temple. Each day is a gift from God and He is more than able! Praise the Lord!! God is speaking, I receive it. :) Thanks for being obedient to the Lord's voice and writing what I needed to read.
Elder DeBorrah K Ogans (author) on May 24, 2012:
Gabgirl, Thank you for being my first bold and outspoken visitor! How interesting. I wrote this because I Love to worship the Lord alone, or in my home or within a worship assembly along with the people of God. But I have witnessed and experienced many things that I know are not Biblical. Tradition as well as Rituals are not in itself bad but when they are used to control others I get concerned. I understand that there must be some order. God is a God of order. But the true purpose of His Church is to worship Him, the fellowship of believers, to encourage others to become a part of the family of God and proclaim and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ! We all are forever growing as long as He has us here on this side of Heaven so no one has all the answers.
I somewhat understand where you are coming from… This is sad because The CHURCH belongs to God! This is what I mean when I say religion can impair mental stability this is disturbing. It is because of how it is sometimes practiced. Telling you to leave is also disturbing. It would have been much more beneficial spiritually for all concerned to make a sincere attempt to come to be better understanding. To see how your needs could be better met. Please do not allow this stop you from growing closer to the Lord.
Your hurt and pain are understandable. GOD is in the business of HEALING! I pray that you continue to grow closer to the Lord and spend time in His Word and be led by His Holy Spirit! God can heal your hurt right where you are. You can overcome this! Spending time with the Lord each day even if it is just a few moments will be beneficial… “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels or demons, neither the present or the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in creation, will be able to separate us from the LOVE of God that is in CHRIST JESUS our LORD!” Romans 8.
Know that your body is the Temple and you can worship the Lord wherever you are. Please do not allow this to make you bitter but only better. Please continue to pursue God’s purpose and plan for your life! Each day is a gift from God! GOD IS MORE THAN ABLE! In HIS Love, Grace, Mercy, Joy, Peace & Blessings! God Bless You!

Dear Mr.s DeBorrah : This is a wonderful, beautiful hub, and I love the pictures of our President, First Lady, and their beautiful children. They look happy. The picture of the wonderful officers are very nice too. You have a perfect mind , and wonderful skill of expression in you're educational words. It is a joy to read, and learn from all the glory of you're knowledge of God's word. How Blessed we all are to have someone like you so near us to listen to, and learn from. The joy of God's heart is a never ending well spring of a love source that we can all appreciate when we choose to follow our Lord's wonderful desires of us. God Bless You, and your beautiful, and precious family, and Happy Memorial Day comming soon.

More than just labeling and alienation. I was kicked out and told to go congregate elsewhere. I moved out here believing it was what God wanted. I spent ten years with Apostolic and Prophetic. Apparently I am the problem. I'm even called by them to tell me that they will 'learn from my mistakes'. Frankly I'm done with churches. I don't have a problem with God, but this has hurt me beyond repair. I wrote about being kicked out of church. It's an experience I don't desire anyone. Unfortunately however every church will 'defend' themself and confront you. They are united, especially if they view you as the 'opposition'.
