Psychics Are Lucifer's Friends: Why I Left Sagittarius in the Past

Reformed Eve is a daughter of God, which makes her royalty - no matter what the world throws at her. She straightens her crown quite often.

Fortune Cookies, Too?

Today's focus is on astrology, tarot cards, and things that are considered occult, and why we should avoid them. And yes, unfortunately, this includes our horoscopes and probably even those little slips of paper with red ink hidden within your fortune cookie at your favorite Asian restaurant.

When I Used to be a Sagittarius

When I was young, I was really kind of obsessed with horoscopes. I really loved identifying with Sagittarius. I loved finding out what my personal traits were in accordance with the pull of the moon, the positions of the stars, and the movement of the planets. I was even curious about what kind of relationship match would mesh well with my particular sign. The truth is, however, when you gain knowledge of something that God put in your heart, you are responsible for the knowledge you acquired. In my life, I happened upon certain Bible scriptures, in my thirties, which solidified the fact that certain kinds of divination (or future/fortune-telling) is not good. Actually, most of it, all of it, is bad. The Bible is clear on this, regardless of our resistance, excuses, or prior innocence in regard to this topic.

The Lake of Burning Sulfur

Revelation 21:8 says this: "But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshippers, and all liars...their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death. Do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord."

Straw Burning in a Fire

Isaiah 47: 12-14 says this: "Now use your magical charms! Use the spells you have worked at all these years! Maybe they can make someone afraid of you. All the advice you receive has made you tired. Where are all your astrologers, those stargazers who make predictions each month? Let them stand up and save you from what the future holds. But they are like straw burning in a fire; they cannot save themselves from the flame. You will get no help from them at all; their hearth is no place to sit for warmth."

Who Should We Seek?

Isaiah 8:19 says this: Someone may say to you, " Let's ask the mediums and those who consult the spirits of the dead. With their whisperings and mutterings, they will tell us what to do." But shouldn't people ask God for guidance? Should the living seek guidance from the dead?

Shift Focus to God

Let's focus on God. If you feel any kind of conviction, then please realize that this is the Holy Spirit talking to you. The Holy Spirit is telling you what's right and what's wrong. The Devil wants to deceive you and make you believe that these famous fortune tellers and people who talk to the dead know exactly what they are talking about. Maybe they do, but the thing is that maybe the words they are speaking aren't coming from God, and they are perhaps coming from a darker place. So be careful in regards to where you are gathering advice regarding your future. Are you relying on God, or are you relying on dead spirits, horoscopes, and fortune cookies?

That Still, Small Voice

Every day presents room for improvement. Every day is an opportunity to become closer to Christ, not just by words, but by action. I personally do not feel comfortable seeking advice from any type of fortune-teller, regardless of what I did as a very unknowing child. With the newfound clarification of the Scriptures that the Holy Spirit has revealed to me, I made a decision to change. I felt convicted after trying to excuse myself with thoughts like, "It's not that serious." Yes, the Bible says it's serious. If you want to be more receptive to the Holy Spirit, pray first, ask for forgiveness of your sins, and continue asking God what he feels that you should be paying more attention to in your life. The goal is to get closer to Christ, and we can do that little by little each day by learning together and making small changes that will have a huge impact.
