Peace With God

A believer, in recovery, looking to the Bible to know who I am in Christ.

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand. - Romans 5:1

I Can Boldly Come

I am a believer which by definition means that I am justified in the court of heaven. Wow. I don't deserve that.

Another way of saying that is I have peace with God.

Hang on, Let me say that again.

I. Have. Peace. With. God.

I have (right now) peace with God. Because I'm a believer, a redeemed child of God, If I am trying to work for peace with God, I am wasting my time.

See, I'm already justified. Still, I know I get this confused sometimes.

I start thinking that I have to make things right with Him. But the debt is paid in full. It is finished. Even when I am in sin, I can't "do" something to make things right. Jesus has paid it all.

How foolish it is for me, a child of the Lord God Almighty, to act like I don't have access to Him.

Still, I do need to confess my sin. Why might I feel like God is not happy with me? I can hurt the relationship by holding on to unconfessed sin. But hey, that's good news. Because I can confess my sin right now. I don't have to wait in line. Just talk to Him.

And as a believer, confessing my sin doesn't save me; I'm already bought and paid for by Jesus. It is like in a marriage when there is a conflict, the couple aren't suddenly divorced. But the relationship needs repair sometimes.

The verse says I have access into grace.

I have it. Now.

I can boldly come to the throne of grace. Because of Jesus.

How foolish it is for me, a saved child of the Lord God Almighty, to act like I don't have access to Him.

Well, I do have access. Full. My dues are all paid up by Jesus. I can come to Him right now. In fact, regularly, in the Bible, the Lord chides His people for not returning to Him. He makes it clear that He is waiting.

I must seek Him. Today. Now.

Lord, I know that you listen. I know that I must confess my sin regularly. Daily and more. Help me live my life as a believer who knows that I am justified, that I have peace with God, through you. And may I not forget that I have real access. Lord, enlarge my understanding of what this means. Blessed be the Name of the Lord.
