What Is The Strange Life Form In The North Carolina Sewer System

Almost at once local biologists came out and said that it was tubifex worms. However almost at the same time other biologists stated that they did not believe the creatures were tubifex worms or worms of any type. State biologists said that tubifex worms usually live in open bodies of water and they have never been seen in a sewer system before. They may be some type of worm or other creature that was previously unknown. But the only way we are going to know for sure is to get one of the creatures out of the sewer system and examine it to see what it is.

Then on Tuesday, July 30th a biologist with Duke University, Mark Davis went on a fishing expedition with a special type of sewer camera capable of cutting a sample from what ever it finds. Davis was able to retrieve several samples of flesh from the creatures and he stated for the record that the creatures in the sewer are not tubifex worms or for that matter any type of known worm. He said that the samples taken from the creatures living in the Raliegh sewer system were more closely related to the Octopus family than to a worm.

He also said that the creatures he took the sample from appeared to be intelligent and one of the creatures attempted to grab the cutting probe and stop it from cutting a piece of flesh from another of the creatures. He said you would never see this level of intelligence in a worm. He went on to say. " Have you ever been fishing and had one worm try to keep you from putting its friend on a hook. When he was asked if it was an alien creature he did not answer.

He said that initial tests confirmed that the creatures living under the ground in the Raliegh Sewer System are carbon based but are not from the tubifex family or any other related worms. He said the creatures he saw on the sewer cam had small front arms and moved away as the light approached them. He said. " I'll state for the record, worms do not have arms ".

When questioned by reporters Professor Davis would not say that the creatures are an alien life form. He said that there may well be many creatures here on earth that have not yet been discovered.

Professor Davis caused an uproar and a birage of questions when he said, " If these are worms they would have to be like those from the film, Men In Black" If you remember those worms could talk and lived much like humans. Professor Davis was asked are you saying these are intelligent beings? Professor Davis said, " No, but I don't think they are any known worm either"

Professor Davis ended his press conference and refused to answer any further questions. He did earlier release information that the samples he took on Tuesday with the sewer probe have been sent to a scientist in Florida and he will get back to us when the tests needed have been done on the samples. He stated that he has every confidence that the samples he took will reveal something astounding but that he is not yet ready to go on the record.

My Thoughts On This Story

I've always been a X-Files fan. I think I've watched every episode a dozen or more times. This story of the Strange Life Forms under the streets of Raliegh in the Sewer System reminds me of the X-Files episode where the Fluke Worm was effected by radioactive waste and then ended up in a city sewer system and started killing people. It was a humonoid creature and it planted flukeworms in people killing them. We might not want to get this creature out of the sewer system.

What Is In The North Carolina Sewer System?

A lot of people are still saying that the creatures in the Raliegh sewer system are tubifex worms but other people including some scientists are just not convinced. One biologist from North Carolina University named John Morrow said that he did not believe that what is being shown on the sewer cam is tubifex worms. He said that while the creatures shown on the sewer cam may appear to look like worms that he has enhanced some of the footage and he sees arms on the creatures in the video. He said he does not know of any worm living anywhere that has arms. He said if it has arms then it is some type of creature we do not know about.

Morrow said that he has not talked to Professor Davis from the story above but that he also says the creatures appear squid like or octopus like in nature. He said to his knowledge there are no fresh water squids or octopus living in sewer systems or in fresh water of any kind.

He said that what he would like to see is one of the creatures be pulled from the Raliegh sewer system and then we would know what we have living there. He said it could well be some type of creature that is not yet known.

What if there is a type of squid or octopus that lives in fresh water he said. What if we have discovered a colony of them living in the sewer system.

He went on to say that we should not be surprised to find that there are unknown creatures living in this world. He said it may not even be in my lifetime but there will be all types of creatures discovered one day. He went on to say that he would not be at all surprised to one day see all types of strange and unknown creatures living in deep water lakes or in the ocean. He said it was not that far fetched that the creatures living in the North Carolina sewer system may be some type of new creature or a creature that has evolved from some other type of creature.

He went on to say that over the last fifty years or so we have dumped all kinds of chemicals and who knows what else down into the sewer systems. He said that the chemicals may have caused some type of strange creature to evolve or develop.

And the only way we are ever going to know exactly what these creatures are is to dig down into that sewer and bring one of them up to the surface. And he said that even then that people may not agree on what it is. He said that he thinks it may be a creature that has been exposed to harsh chemicals and that it might not even be able to live if it was brought to the surface.

NASA Scientist Refuses To Go On The Record

A Florida NASA scientist refused to have his name used on the record on Friday, August 2 but he said that he would not be at all surprised if a new life form was to be discovered here on earth. He said that something living undiscovered in a sewer system would not be that far fetched. He said he would be really surprised if it was alien or from another planet.

This Story Is Possibly True And It May Not Be.

I was told the story and sent the newspaper clipping on Friday. Is it an alien I don't know. I know I have found many places on the net where they say it is not worms of any type. It is stated that tubefix worms would not live in a sewer system. But bottom line this is my site and I will approve the comments I choose.

Mean spirited or put down comments will never be approved. If you know everything and want so bad to post it go start your own site. Civilized open discussion is welcome.

IMO, this creature is not normal. It's some kind of mutant. My questions would be:

1. What did it mutate from?

2. What caused the mutation?

goodygirl33 on December 09, 2013:

These creatures are NOT tubifex worms...that was determined. They remain an unknown lifeform. My concern is that they are yet to be determined and the question is why not. We don't know how wide spread this potential problem or threat is. I notice a number of you remark what a good read or story this is...It is not fiction, it is a real situation that needs to be looked into and handled. Another part of the article mentioned "arms" and a larger one attempting to "grab" the probe which was trying to remove a sample from a smaller creature. Does this not disturb any of you?

Great story , I really enjoyed it.

Deb Hirt from Stillwater, OK on August 06, 2013:

Back in Maine, the paper companies used to dump all sorts of chemicals in the river that affected the fish. I would not be at all surprised if the same thing happened here. It will be of great interest to me to see what the outcome is, but I suspect that we might not know for a while. Good investigative material!

Cal yes I know the story was on the news years ago but its been on the local TV here in N.C. for the last week or so. The Professor talking about it says they are not worms of any type.

I wasn't expecting a video, and when I watched it I was amazed. I don't know what it could be, but it would be interested if they decided to take it another step further and find out!
