One of the Works of the Hand of the Lord

Over three decades ago I become interested in the Bible, having drank from the heavenly cup once, I have not been tired to drink more

All through the bible we would see different acts attributed to the hand of God (Exo. 15:16,17; Job 2:10, 27:11; Psa. 16:11, 17:7; 18:35 etc.)

But there is a work that the author of Psalm 21 verse 8 says the hand of the Lord does and it is this work that I want to write on in this article.

When the Word Makes “Strong” Impression

Many of us during our devotion periods have read through so many portions of the bible but while reading through those portions they may not make “strong” impressions on our hearts, until a day that God through his Holy Ghost will illuminate our hearts while reading the chapter and verse and the grip of Holy Ghost on our hearts will not be released until He makes us see what he wants us to see at the verse as related to our lives, families, the church, environment yea the world.

As my heart has been illuminated by Holy Ghose on reading through psalms 21:8 which says,

Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee. (Psa. 21:8)

I would like to dissect this word for us using the local template in my area.

What the Hand Will Do

The Psalmist says God’s hand shall find out His enemies. On reading this verse, I say to myself we use our eyes to look and search out something, but not the hand, for the hand has no eyes and the bible has said every part of the body has its functions, eye cannot do what the ear will do, neither can teeth do what the nostril will do not legs do what brain will do etc.

For the body is not one member, but many.

If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: (1 Cor. 12: 14-18; 21-22)

For God through the Psalmist to be saying that God’s hands shall find out all his enemies, it therefore connotes that there must be a special means for identifying, locating, isolating, separating his enemies from those who are not his enemies.

How the Hand Will Find Out?

While playing some games as a child and we are blindfolded with black cloth and asked to dip our hands into a basket to pick out balls out of many shapes put in the basket.

Before dipping the hand into the basket, we know that balls are “roundish”, “circular” in shape, thence when we touched things with edges, we shall know that those can possibly not be balls but cuboid or triangular or rectangular etal.

Therefore we shall drop that with edges and continue to search with our hands, till we get the circular object called ball bringing them out to drop in a provided place as the game continues.

With this picture at the back of my mind, I applied it to this verse and discovers what the Psalmist is saying in a new light, that God’s hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee. (Psa. 21:8)

The Application of the Illustration

The above illustration of what we did while a child and the game yet being done in schools, it means that the righteous people have curvatures, by which they are known and the wicked people also have their own distinctive curvatures. I said this because Jesus used to make illustration of the physical things to bring the hearts of the disciples to understand and grasp the spiritual things. (Joh. 3:12).

It means the two, righteous and the wicked cannot be mixed together nor form a compound (as it happens in chemistry). They can easily be separated by the hand of God while tracing out their curvatures.

These Curvatures Are Internal

The curvatures I am talking about are not physical curvatures that could be physically seen, they are spiritual (Rom. 12:1-3) and it is by this that the hand of God will search and separate the righteous from the wicked people.

It should be noted that Humans cant do this because God does not look as man looks (1 Sam. 16:6-7), we look at physical, we cant see the deepest beings of humans, it is only God who can do this.

How Many Enemies?

The bibles says, he will search and locate all his enemies. This means none of the enemies of God will be left behind.

Are You Surprised?

Some people may be surprised and ask that how does God have enemies? Can God has enemies? They will ask. You should not be surprised about this, because from the beginning of the world has Satan be the archenemy of God. This archenemy of God fills people’s hearts with his spirit to go contrary to God’s words.

The second phrase thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee. Is an emphatic word showing that God will undoubtedly do what he has stated.

Let us come off our sinful positions and give our all to God through Christ Jesus today and he shall take us

This is one of the works of the hand of God, and he will certainly execute this on all his enemies and those who hate the Gospel.
