Mortality: Do You Fear It ?
What Becomes of Believers and Unbelievers After Death?
A loved one recently said, “As I grow older I become more aware of my mortality, and I do not like it.” Age has a funny way of prompting thoughts of mortality. It is a given that we will all die. Only those believers who are alive when the Lord appears to take His bride home will miss the experience of a physical death (I Thessalonians 4: 16, 17).
But what of unbelievers, what will be their lot? Paul pulled no punches regarding their fate when he wrote, “In flaming fire, taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power (vs. 8, 9). I don’t know about everyone else, but that phrase “everlasting destruction” sends a fearful chill through my soul – I don’t want anything to do with it.
Why Does the Believer Go to Heaven and the Unbeliever to Hell?
So, what is the difference between the believer and the unbeliever! The believer has taken to heart the scriptures which say “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13); “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2: 8,9); and of course, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3: 16). The believer has come to accept that Jesus Christ clothed Himself in their own sin and stood before the Father to be judged in their place so that they would never have to fear finding themselves in that predicament. This was all made possible by Jesus’ death on the cross, His burial, and His resurrection – His sacrifice!
The unbeliever has foolishly declined the offer of salvation, denying the Lord Jesus Christ and choosing rather to live their life according to the flesh. “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were they thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened” (Romans 1:21). John writes of the unsaved in Revelation saying “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire (vs. 15), where they will be tormented forever in flames and never again know the presence of God – “everlasting destruction”. The truth is, we are all immortal; however, some will go into everlasting destruction and other into everlasting joy.
Does Immortality Appeal to You?
If your mortality frightens you, then know that there is a way to become immortal! That’s right; immortality is an option for you. If you understand that we are all sinners and that a holy God will not allow sin in His presence, and If you accept on faith that Jesus Christ died on the cross, bearing your sin, was judged in your stead, and is now willing to intercede for you, then all that is necessary is simply to acknowledge Him, place your faith in Him, call on Him, and you will be saved. It is that simple!
“Behold, I show you a mystery; we shall not all sleep [die], but we will all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump, for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruptible, and this mortal must put on immortality” (I Corinthians 15: 51-53). All believers will exchange their mortal bodies for one that is incorruptible and immortal. Jesus said, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture” (John 10: 9).
God’s Word has the Answers
Get out your Bibles, and if you must, knock the dust off and begin to read. Search the scriptures! The Bible clearly states the importance of scripture to your salvation. “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise . . .” (Ephesians 1: 13).
The truth is, we are all immortal; however, some will go into everlasting destruction and others into everlasting joy. Repent (change your mind about your sins and about Jesus Christ), confess those sins, and ask the Lord to save you; then you may stop fearing your mortality and begin embracing your immortality!

K.C., thank you so much for the advice. I will try to rewrite it in the next day or two. I see that my second article was featured; I am excited now. I reckon now I need to learn how to use search words, pictures, videos, and how to link these with advertisements and such. I believe I also saw somewhere that I needed five articles to be featured before I could do some of those things.
Again, thank you so much for the Advice!

I believe you may still have a chance to have your first article featured by editing it. Saddly, HP does not explain in any detail what is lacking or what should be changed or corrected ei. spelling and such to it. It has happened to me before too, which caused me to make adjustments or corrections to my article. You should still have access to your first article, you should review it and make adjustments or changes where you think it may be needed. Then publish it again. The "Featuring" process can take up to 48 hours or longer in some cases.
Hopefully there are other members of HP who have been with HP much longer than myself who may read this and is wilingl to give you far better guidence than myself.
I hope this is of some help to you.
As stated before I'm looking forward to reading much more of your work.

Thank you K.C.
You are right, there is no middle ground in this. There are many individuals, and denominations as well, that reject the Father and the Son. Judgement day will reveal all, too late for too many though.
Thank you for comments, they are encouraging. I apparently have much to learn about HubPages requirements for having a article 'featured". By any chance, do you know if the wis a way to get details as to why an article might be denied featured status. The notice I receive is very ambiguous and I would really like to know specifics about what need to be done to correct it.
Once again, thank you!

I want to point out that there our two types of people in this world. There are those who believe in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ as we are given a COMMANDMENT to do by God and then there are those who are antichrist's. And the following is the proof which is found in1 John 3:23 NKJV which states "And this is HIS COMMENDMENT; that we believe on the name of HIS Son Jesus Christ and love one another as He gave us COMMANDMENT".
1 John 2: 22-23 NKJV states, " 22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He IS ANTICHRIAT who denies the Father and Son. 23 WHOEVER denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
So based on these verses a person is one or the other. There IS NO MIDDLE GROUND.
Great article and looking forward to the next one.
