True Miracle Stories
Miracles happen when God steps in and does what only He can do. As I was taking a trIp down memory lane and counting my blessings I decided I needed to record and share them here on the hubs. What I thought would be one hub, of miracles, has turned out to be a series. I stand amazed and humbled at God's miraculous hand in my life.
As I was preparing and writing about my miracle stories, a flood of memories came back to me. There are so many times when God has stepped into my life and provided a miracle.
The first hub called Miracle Stories was about only one ..but the most important and amazing miracle of my life. It is the miracle of God's love drawing me into the family of God. On that day, I began a journey with Jesus. On that day, I found rest for my soul and purpose for my life.
This hub will reveal two types of miracles; The miracle of answered prayer and the miracle of God's call on my life. When God answers prayer in a big and miraculous way it touches our lives and we are never the same.
I would LOVE to hear about your special encounters with God. It is uplifting and faith-building when believers share what God has done in their lives.

God's Call and a Miracle Provision
If I am committed to following Jesus, I must carefully listen to the still small voice of the Spirit and be willing obey His call. For me, in this case, it meant not pushing the still small voice away because it was scary.
I had never planned to go to college. I had my plans made and college wasn't even an option in my opinion. My home life was very difficult, filled with verbal and physical abuse. As a result, I was insecure and never ventured beyond my comfort zone. Though I was timid, I had big faith and knew, deep in my heart, that if and when Jesus called me, I would follow Him wherever He led.
One Sunday morning, as I was sitting in my Church studying the wooden cross at the front of the sanctuary, I heard that still small voice from God. As I stared at the cross, I thought about what my Savior did for me. I mean noone had sacrificed so much because of His love for me. He gave His very life that I might live, not just eternally but abundantly, right here, right now. God rescued me from despair and placed me into His family. I felt such JOY in knowing that I was loved like that.
Then Jesus spoke ... it was through the words of scripture I had previously memorized, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me." Luke 9:23
As I sat immersed in deep thought, contemplating the meaning of this verse, I began to pray, "Oh Lord, you have given me hope and a purpose. I do want to follow you but I am so ignorant of the ways of God, I don't know what you want." Just then I felt God speak to my heart. This is what I heard (not literally but as certainly as it had been Gods' voice) "You need to prepare to serve me. I want you to go to Cornerstone College."
At first, the message scared me. The thought of living so far away was terrifying. My thoughts then went to my steady boyfriend. We had planned to get married right out of High School. Sitting there that morning, trying to digest this calling, I remembered the words of my dear Pastor Jones, "The Holy Spirit speaks in a still small voice and if you are not careful you may miss what His message." I did not want to miss anything that my Father God wanted for me - I knew I must follow Jesus.
From that day, I prepared to go to college. My family thought I had lost my mind. My boyfriend was angry and distressed. Me? Much to my boyfriends chagrin, peace reigned in my soul and I had a song in my heart.
My parents threw questions out like; "How did I think I could afford a private school?" I did not know, I only knew God told me to go. They tried to convince me that I was not being realistic. They scoffed at the idea. They would not help me with anything.
I was only seventeen years old, yet, on my own, I applied and kept an appointment with a guidance from the college (3 hours away from home.) I shopped and gathered everything I would need as I prepared to leave home at the end of August. I look back and am dumbfounded by the responsibility I handled.
The night before I was to leave, I was in my room packing my belongings, when my mother came into the room and with sadness on her face and in her voice. She said, "Susie, Dad have been going over and over our finances and there was no way on earth we can afford to send you to college."
They did not have the money. I stopped what I was doing and looked at my Mother. She looked sincerely sorry and I could tell it was hard for her to give me this news. I answered her, "It's okay Mom, maybe God just wanted to see if I was willing, to leave my home and all that I knew, to follow him."
After mom left the room I sat quietly on my bed. Most of my clothing had been packed and I had everything else prepared to go. I was relieved, in a way, because I really didn't want to leave my home, my boyfriend or my church.
I decided I better call one of my Youth Leaders to inform them that I would not be going to college. I spoke with Jan that night and told her what had happened. She sounded disappointed for me and promised she would be praying. She said that a group of people from the Church were coming to her house that very night and she would share the news with them.
The next morning I received a call from the head deacon at my Church. He said, "Get packed Mekenzie, you are going to college." Shocked, I sat very still as he explained that Jan had told the group that had gathered in her home about my plight. They decided to call my Pastor, who was on vacation at the time. Pastor Jones directed them by saying, "You get her up there and we'll worry about the money later."
After I told my Mom and Dad I ran to finish my packing. You can imagine the chaos and excitement that took over in our house that day. Jan would be at my house in two hours to drive me to college. As I was hurriedly working I could hear my Mom on the phone telling everyone, "Mekenzie said that God was going to send her to college, and He is! He really is!"
I am deeply grateful to God for Pastor Jones and for the group who met at Jan's house and prayed for me. I applied and received a job on campus to help pay for my college tuition and the prayer group paid the rest. Amazing Grace How Can It Be That Thou My God Should Care For Me.

As a new Christian, my heart was filled with gratitude and hope. I wanted to tell everybody about Jesus. I soon learned that nobody, in my world, really wanted to know or hear about Him. Not only were they not interested but many were even offended when I tried to tell them.
I was only 15 years old when came to know the Lord and I was bewildered and confused at the reactions I was getting. I did not understand why people would not want to know about the one who created them and loved them so much. What caused this revulsion when I spoke the name of Jesus?
As I grew in my faith I began to understand that I needed to talk less and pray more for those who turned deaf ears to the message of God's love and Jesus sacrifice. There is power in prayer. Divine power from a God who hears and longs to answer our prayers of faith.
I wanted to tell everybody about Jesus
I wanted to tell everybody about Jesus. I soon learned that nobody in my world really wanted to know or hear about Him. Not only were they not interested but many were even offended when I tried to tell them.
Prayers for Family
As a new believer I was experiencing a deep peace and joy for the first time in my young life. My family did not get it. In fact some of them gave me a real hard time. They would make fun of me and call me a religious fanatic. They laughed at me when tears would burn my eyes because of their insults. Deep down I only wanted them to know Jesus like I did. I knew that their lives were just as empty and purposeless as mine had been.
Soon after I had given my life to Jesus I led my little sister to understand the love of God and to accept His gift of salvation. During my Senior Year God provided a way for me to attend a Christian College. When I left my family to go to college I was heavy hearted and ached for them to know the peace I had found. Who would be there to live Jesus love before them?
I prayed consistently and urgently for my parents and brother. I was no longer at home, there was no more opportunity to convince them that God was real and that He loved them. Though I was three hours away from home I continued to pray for them with all my heart.
As I jumped into college life, fervently invested, I began receiving letters from my Dad. He was telling me some pretty remarkable stories. He said that the carpenter who was building onto our deck was a Christian. Dad told me that this man was continuing to visit even after his work was completed. Dad really liked him! Next came the plumber, the insurance man and the old friend who all shared their stories of personal faith in Jesus Christ.
Tell me do you see this as miraculous? I knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that all of these people were being sent by God to tell my family the good news. I have no doubt about it. In all of my years, before I heard the good news of God's plan, I had never even met a person who shared the story of salvation and no one who lived a life of joy in Jesus. Christians were coming out of the woodwork and into my parent's lives. Only God could do this.
Prayers for My Son
My son went through a very long period of rebellion. During that time I thought my mother's heart would literally break as I cried out to God time and time again. One of my constant prayers was that He would send believers into Daniels life. What happened, in answer to my prayers, is nothing short of astonishing; I kid you not ...Christians followed Daniel everywhere he went. Believer's spoke to him at work, in restaurants at the doctor's office and in the most unusual places. They were all holding out hope to my son. I have told Daniel that I have never known anyone who was so chased down by God. It was a miraculous answer to prayer which eventually led to my son's surrender to God's will.
Prayers for Daughter
My daughter Rebecca was growing up fast. She was beautiful and naïve. I was very concerned about her because she was drawn to the bad boy type. I prayed for her and asked God to direct me in guiding this whimsical fun loving girl.
One night my husband and I attended a dinner and a concert at Gull Lake Bible Conference Center. We sat across from a Physician and his wife. As we were getting to know them, the Doctor pointed toward the banquet table at a handsome young man with a beautiful smile. The doctor beamed as he said, that's my son. He spent quite a bit of time bragging about his son Dillon. As he was talking I was sending up prayers. I prayed, "God, please send Rebecca a young man like Dillon. She needs to understand what a 'good guy' looks like."
About a year later a young man came to Rebecca's Church as the leader of the college aged youth group. As Dillon got to know Rebecca and our family, he began hanging out with us. One night as he was cooking something up in the kitchen he started telling me about his family. He said that his father was a Doctor and his mom, a nurse. He told me where they lived and that they spent a lot of time at Gull Lake in the summer. I was stunned as the realization sank in. It was Dillon. the doctor's son I had met a year ago, and he was standing right there in my kitchen.
Two years later Dillon married my daughter. He loves her dearly and has had such a stabilizing affect on her life. Only God! For more on my daughters story and my prayers being answered read this: A MOTHERS PRAYERS FOR HER DAUGHTER.
In my third hub on Miracles I am reminded of God's love and Faithfulness as He works His miracles as only HE can do.
In Part Three of Miracle Stories I will tell you my personal stories of Miracles in two different areas listed below:
MIRACLE OF FORGIVENESS - As a victim of child abuse I could not forgive the man who had caused untold misery and pain in my life. Only God could give me the gift of forgiveness to offer to my Dad.
HEALING MIRACLE - After a lifetime of trying to prove myself to my mother-in-law and feeling rejected, unaccepted and sometimes even despised I was given the gift of healing from her own lips.
Please join me in praise and adoration to a God who is alive and works Miracles into our lives each and every day.

Wonderful/ This is what happens in the lives of Christians that have REAL FAITH. Thank you for sharing, people need to hear these things instead of some of the foolishness that is presented as Christian.
."The scriptures say "These signs will follow those that believe." and they do.
You have encouraged me to tell the story of how God sent the man I prayed for to my daughter as an instruction and encouragement to young ladies out there that desire God's best for their husband.
may God continue to bless you abundantly.
