5) Means/Ways that Promotion/Lifting is Attained

These are the means by which all humans on earth attain their promotion.

a) Careers/Skills:

One of the means by which humans on the earth are lifted/being sustained is by our careers, or those things we delighted in doing.

We read of Bezaleel and Aholiab in the bible that when the Israelis were in the wilderness and they wanted to construct a tabernacle, because they were extremely good in what they are doing, they became promoted by God as they were given the grace of doing the work of the construction.

“Exo 31:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Exo 31:2 See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:

Exo 31:3 And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,

Exo 31:4 To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,

Exo 31:5 And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship.

Exo 31:6 And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee; ”

As we have read above the same happened to Hiram during the reign of King Solomon, because he was good in what he was doing though his father not an Israeli yet the king sent for him to do the work of the construction for him. His work made him stand before the crème-de-la-crème of the society during his day.

“1Ki 7:13 And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre.

1Ki 7:14 He was a widow's son of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass: and he was filled with wisdom, and understanding, and cunning to work all works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and wrought all his work.”

I am sure by what he did other doors of promotion would have opened for him to do other works for other important people in the society then.

b) Gifts/Talents:

Those things that we have been born with and we can natural do, do with ease, God can use it also to promote/sustain or lift us up. There are people who do not attend any music school yet they are good in handling some musical instruments as well as singing, through this means such people can be promoted by God. These things which we can naturally do are called talents.

“Pro 18:16 A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.”

On the other hand there are people who have been blessed by the gifts of the spirits, like the gift of prophecy, teaching, administration and so on. These people too are being blessed, sustained and promoted of God through their gifts.

“Rom 12:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

Rom 12:7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;

Rom 12:8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.”

An example is the man called Ahithophel in the bible by the gift which the Lord gave him he was able to stand before Kings counseling them those days.

“2Sa 16:23 And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.”

It is by what we do, by our gifts, talents, skills that God promotes us. Samson was a skillful and powerful warrior through this means God lifted him up to become ruler over his people. Deborah was a prophetess in the land of Israel through this means she was able to rule and judge the people of Israel. The great business woman of Shunem was able to stand before the King before she has the gift of giving, hospitality and her case could be shared with the King by Prophet Elisha’s servant after the drought in the land.

“2Ki 8:1 Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.

2Ki 8:2 And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

2Ki 8:3 And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.

2Ki 8:4 And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.

2Ki 8:5 And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

2Ki 8:6 And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.”

It is a good thing that we have an in-depth knowledge, wisdom and understanding of our career, gifts, and talents and or skills because it is through this means that we shall be promoted, it is through this means that we shall be lifted up by Yahweh, the God of the universe.
