Let Your Heart Speak

When we are hopeless because of what we see, God makes us see the truth through our faith in Him that He can move the mountains.

What Is the Heart?

The heart is obviously part of our body that helps us to live the life given to us. This helps our blood to circulate inside our body, without its pumps, the blood will not circulate and so we do not want any heart failure or heart problems because it is important in a human's body.

In the Bible, the heart is considered the seat of life or strength. Hence, it means mind, soul, spirit, or one's entire emotional nature and understanding.

Let's deep dive into the meaning of how important it is to us aside from physical nature.

  • Our mind is part of our heart - Thinking is an activity of the mind and so there will be an instance when people think evil things in their hearts.

Matthew 9:4
“And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, Why are you thinking evil things in your hearts?”

  • Our will is part of our heart - To purpose is to decide strongly to do something, which is an exercise of our will.

Acts 11:23
“Who, when he arrived and saw the grace of God, rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain with the Lord with the purpose of heart.”

  • Our emotion is part of our heart - Whether you are rejoicing or mourning, these are related to our emotions.

John 16:22
“Therefore you also now have sorrow, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and no one takes your joy away from you.”

  • Our conscience is part of our heart - Having our hearts sprinkled with an evil conscience indicates that our conscience is also part of our heart. Our conscience blames or condemns us when we’ve done something wrong.

Hebrews 10:22
“Let us come forward to the Holy of Holies with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”

With that said, always check your heart, because we may be using our minds to think but remember that it is connected to our hearts, and by doing it, we would know if we are doing a bad or a good thing.

Guard Your Heart

When guarding our hearts, it is making sure that we are keeping them pure. Remember that our hearts are connected to God and by guarding our hearts, it will be easier for us to be closer to God which will also be easy for us to follow Him and abide by His words.

All of your life comes from your heart. The issues of life are your decisions, your actions, and reactions, the way you feel, think, and reason about things, and your words. These can be pure or impure, depending on the condition of your heart, and the decisions you’ve made there. They affect your relationship with God.

If your heart is pure, then everything stemming from your life is pure. If your heart is impure, then everything stemming from your life is impure. Your actions are a result of what is in your heart. We could also say that not only does his mouth speak, but his mind thinks, and his body acts.

The Heart Versus the Brain

We all know that both our hearts and brains are important to humans. But have we ever thought about which of them we really have to follow? I guess only a few of us would even think of this question especially if others are not curious or maybe not interested. But whether you would be interested or not I hope you will get something from what I share.

The brain is the one that acts whenever we think about resolving an issue, making a decision, creating a plan, and even how to spend our money. Obviously, our brain is acting to tell us what to do. The brain will tell you if it is right or wrong, but it would never tell you to always do just the right thing because sometimes even if you know what is right, you will still do the wrong thing as long as you are enjoying it or loving it. Meaning the brain is giving you the options until you come up with a decision.

The heart is the one that acts to do the right thing as it is connected to God. We need to make sure that our hearts are in a good condition. When we say in a good condition, it should be pure. But whether it is impure or pure we still need to guard our hearts. When the heart is guarded, it is pure, and when it's pure, our actions, reactions, and decisions will come out right because we followed our hearts that are connected to God.

Remember, the brain can tell you what is right or wrong but only the heart will tell you to do the right thing. I know at the end of the day it will still be your decision, but I hope while thinking using the brain and once already have the options, may we use our guarded hearts to speak the final say.
