Jesus appears when he is needed. I was pondering on this very item this week - why does Jesus appear to some and to not all and not all the time and then I received the email which I have quoted below about a 6 year old. But before we get to that email, let's review the verses in the Bible on seeing and believing and review my encounter when I was 6.
Jesus on more than one occasion "appeared" and many followed Him. After his resurrection, man people including disciples saw but yet did not believe (until later). These included Mary Magdalene and the seven disciples of our Lord at the Sea of Galilee (see John 6:1).
It is important to note that the disciples eventually all came to believe that Jesus had been raised from the dead - was resurrected. Their beliefs were changed after time.
It takes humans time to understand the mysteries of our Great God. Like children what we say today may not have an impact until years perhaps decades later.
Jesus Appears to Mary
Post Resurrection Appearances in the Gospel of John
The first appearance is to Mary Magdalene, and the next three appearances are to the disciples.
Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene (20:10-18).
Jesus appears to the disciples (20:19-23) (note, no Thomas).
Jesus appears again to the disciples, with Thomas (20:26-29).
Jesus appears to the seven disciples, including Thomas, who were fishing on the Sea of Galilee (21:1ff.).
Vastness of God - Jesus is Real
Exploring the Vastness of the Sky - Lord's Prayer
"When I consider the vastness of the night sky, what is mere man that you care for him? Exploring the Lord's Prayer as if exploring a magnificent house."
Encounter with God
My encounter with God when I was 6. Wasn't seeing Christ but seeing a glowing globe. It was a traumatic time for me filled with my Mother being hospitalized for a mental illness, an Uncle who threatened to throw me through a plate glass window. A time of great loneliness. I was raised by my Grandparents and my Grandfather fell ill. My world was in turmoil. I remember praying just for a 2 foot area in the world to feel safe.
God heard my plea and sent a glowing globe - completely suspended to my bedroom. I heard no sound but the light filled the entire room. I felt the presence of greatness and great serenity. It was God's message to me that everything would be OK. The glowing globe share with me part of my future and what would be.
That glowing globe remains forever cemented in my mind.
Nine years later when I was told I had to have open heart surgery, I accepted it well - the glowing globe has told me this was about to happen.
Jesus is always near. Some have the purity to see him. Some have the need to see him. Some are strong enough in their faith never to see him. In all cases, God gives to us what we need when we need it. We must only call upon him. He is our Father and he wants for us to trust him and feel him near.
I was under 6, perhaps even 4, but the story of the 6 year old and mud puddle reminded me of this life changing event when God showed his face in a glowing globe to protect me and forever guide me.
I have never seen the globe since. I have lived with God's love. I have been taunted on the playground with the words that "I was the one without a father" and I, the shy only child raised by her Grandparents, have valiantly answered, my Father is in heaven - that was when I was 8.
My Father remains in heaven and I thank him daily for his kindness and goodness. God comes to all of us in different ways. To the 6 year old it was Jesus, for me a glowing globe.
How has God shown you his light? Have you asked? Pray to him now - he loves you very much. Don't believe me? Hear the account of a 6 year old....
Jesus is Here Today for Each of Us

Jesus is Real - The Mud Puddle Tells it All
These events pertain to us today. These are lessons that we can digest and learn and incorporate and understand in our lives. It is not intelligence, it is not wisdom, it is the wisdom to understand the power and majesty of God and his joy in seeing us grow in knowing him and understanding the great magnitude. But sometimes it is the children that lead us to that knowledge:
"JESUS & THE MUD PUDDLE
(You gotta believe a 6 year old)
Howard County Sheriff Jerry Marr got a disturbing call
one Saturday afternoon a few months ago.
His 6-year-old grandson, Mikey, had been hit by a car
while fishing in Greentown with his dad.
The father and son were near a bridge
by the Kokomo Reservoir
when a woman lost control of her car,
slid off the bridge and hit Mikey
at a rate of about 50 mph.
Sheriff Marr had seen the results of accidents
like this and feared the worst.
When he got to Saint Joseph Hospital ,
he rushed through the emergency
room to find Mikey conscious and in fairly good spirits.
'Mikey, what happened?' Sheriff Marr asked.
Mikey replied, 'Well, Papaw, I was fishin' with Dad,
and some lady runned me over,
I flew into a mud puddle,
and broke my fishin' pole and I didn't get to catch
As it turned out, the impact propelled Mikey about
over a few trees and an embankment and in
to the middle of a mud puddle.
His only injuries were to his right femur bone,
which had broken in two places.
Mikey had surgery to place pins in his leg.
Otherwise the boy is fine.
Since all the boy could talk about was
that his fishing pole was broken,
the Sheriff went out to Wal-Mart
and bought him a new one while he was in surgery
so he could have it when he came out.
The next day the Sheriff sat with Mikey
to keep him company in the hospital.
Mikey was enjoying his new fishing pole
and talked about when he could go fishing again
as he cast into the trash can.
When they were alone Mikey, just as matter-of-fact, said,
'Papaw, did you know Jesus is real?'
'Well,' the Sheriff replied, a little startled..
'Yes, Jesus is real to all who believe in him
and love him in their hearts.'
'No,' said Mikey. 'I mean Jesus is REALLY real.'
'What do you mean?' asked the Sheriff.
'I know he's real 'cause I saw him,' said Mikey,
still casting into the trash can.
'You did?' said the Sheriff.
'Yep,' said Mikey. 'When that lady runned me over
and broke my fishing pole,
Jesus caught me in his arms
and laid me down in the mud puddle...'
GIVES YOU GLORY BUMPS, DOESN'T IT?!"

Very beautiful personal experiences you have shared with us. Thank you! God is amazing, he always appears when he knows we need him.
One of the wisest comments I ever heard was that God will not allow you to carry a burden you cannot handle. Another was God has a will of action and permission, he will permit bad things to happen but he will never permit us to have a burden heavier than we can handle. Essentially they say the same thing and if we stand back and look at in a broader, universal perspective this makes sense.
I believe sharing our personal experiences with God, helps us all connect better with each other and with God. To leave in isolation is what the evil one wants us to do, God wants us to reach out and be together.
At church this past Sunday our pastor detailed how three threads of tiny, thin string could not break. This is true in life. We all share different bodies, different skin tones, different color eyes, and are of different heights and weights but we share common emotions, we share hurt feelings, we share physical and mental diseases but we unite together, we are stronger and if we seek God and see him - wow, what a blessing!
My white zippered Bible had a little cross - long gone with all the wear but the bible sits proudly front and center in my great room because it is the greatest book in the world - no because it a great book to me personally.
Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you and your family.

I appreciate your contribution - it is really important. The Roman Empire was a fascinating time frame that I cannot fathom, you bring up some points that we must address in our personal beliefs.
Thank you so much for sharing with us.

I was only 4 or 5 when I looked up into the sky and saw God looking down at me. I know it was not just cloud formation. He wanted me to know that He was watching over me. Looking back. I needed to know that, even then.
About 20 years later the Missionary couple who moved in across the hall from my apartment invited me to a Bible study . I went because they had been so good to me and my little boy, bringing food over, taking Mike to the College gym to play, etc.
I left the Bible study with a desire to know God. I read my little, white,cross- zippered Bible well into the morning.
I felt led to pick up a hand mirror lying in the table, just as I was led to look up into the sky years ago.
This time, rather than seeing Gods face in the sky, I saw His face in that mirror. It shone so bright I could hardly look. One thing filled my mind: "Ancient. Ancient One." I knew it was Jesus, without knowing anything about Jesus. :D

I think that the true Jesus is very different from the man described in the Bible. The false version of Jesus that comes from the roman empire is maintained today, there is nothing about his real story, his marriage with Mary Magdalene, his spiritual teachings ...

As the certain ideals can’t be purchased such as honor and respect, similarly the belief in the activity of Jesus rests on the ideals of faith beyond questions of doubt like purchase.
