Jesus Christ and the Third Eye

To begin..

In modern days there is a new desecration of Jesus' teachings and the bible: Jesus preaching of the third eye. The third eye is dominant in Eastern belief systems and many spiritual beliefs, including the New Age movement. Many spiritual, philosophy, and yoga books, as well as articles on Hubpages will debate that Jesus actually spoke about the third eye and connects that to Jesus being a guru (by most called "the Master Guru") and enlightenment being the true path to God. This is a misconception and a result of not properly researching the facts and root words. To relate esoteric practices and The Way, of which Jesus spoke of, is blasphemy and truly contradictory in the very sense of the words. The defenses of such statements are results of misconstruing His Words and I would like to set it straight. In this article I will be breaking this down and kicking opinion out. Only facts will be used as evidence and common sense of the Christian belief system used to bring it all together.

The Illusion

" Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ." Colossians 2:8 KJV

A popular thing going on in modern times is including Jesus and His beliefs into this New Age movement, or this Western spiritual and philosophical idealism. It has sprouted out tremendously and I was, at one point in my path in life, one of the people sharing this idea before i truly came to Christ and understood Him. These debates are fueled by opinion and watering down the bible to be able to fit these metaphysical things into it, but if you are going to be seeking Truth you must do adequate research and look at the grand picture. There is no connecting to Jesus through enlightenment, esoteric practices, or a third eye and that would fall under sorcery which is prohibited by God, Who Jesus is and taught of. People speaking otherwise are cozening seekers and spoiling Jesus' Name and teachings. I will explain what the real story is, and what He was actually saying.

These ideas have sprouted this Jesus and third eye belief from a verse of the bible:

• "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness." Matthew 6:22 KJV

I have seen this used too many times to defend this idea, as it is the only verse they can use. Many times I see this verse from the Gospel of Thomas used:

• "If those who lead you say to you, 'See, the kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty."

Even though this article is not related by my personal feelings, it truly bothers me when people connect these non-existent dots because it is misleading people and supporting Christians and other seekers to partake in practices that will keep them from entering heaven. I can personally say with all confidence and full responsibility on my soul that if you are opening your third eye or participating in esoteric and metaphysical beliefs you will not be able to have a relationship with our Father YHWH (God) through Jesus Christ His Son. I urge all readers to research this on your own and read the facts that I am about to state to completely discredit all of these assumptions regarding Jesus Christ and Him speaking of the third eye.

A little about the third eye

For those who do not know what the third eye, I will explain a little. The third eye is predominant in Eastern belief systems such as Buddhism, Hinduism, and other religions. It is also found among most spiritual beliefs such as this New Age movement and numerous others. Also known as the brow chakra, the third eye is one of the chakras of our seven chakras system and is arguably the most important. Revered as the "portal of wisdom" and the source of intellect, intuition, and understanding of the universe it truly is a branch of sorcery and metaphysics. The third eye is very real and has been proven by numerous scientific studies, mostly known through electromagnetism. It can be opened through deliberate meditation and yoga, by other people, or even random awakenings but it is part of the forbidden knowledge and is reigned by satan. People argue metaphysics and general spirituality is different, but it really is part of the occult and is evil.

Located in between our eyebrows, slightly above so, it can be seen pictured throughout history most notably on Buddha's head. It is a key and core part of enlightenment and as many quote "reaching the Self, the god in all of us." This sounds nice, but we are made by God and in His image, not to actually be Him. As Jesus stated in Matthew 10:24: "the disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord." To try to be God, or to claim you are, is blasphemy and can be considered blasphemy against the Holy Spirit which is the unforgivable sin (Matthew 12:31).

People may believe what they choose, but to lead people to things which you are not sure of is accepting the responsibility of where their soul ends up. Tell me, if you mislead someone and they end up going to hell because of your teachings, who's fault is that? Theirs, or yours? Take heed.

The Truth

I spoke lightly on this confusion in my last article, Chakras and Kundalini but I will explain it again. The verse used, as mentioned above, when read can confuse someone and can be used as a defense of the third eye but it's not using proper research. When Jesus was speaking of this He was talking about someone's mind and focus on God and good things. Many people, even Christians, will use one verse without reading the rest of the chapter and come to a definite conclusion. We find this when people speak against tattoos using Leviticus 19:21 which I will discuss in a later article. If Jesus was talking about enlightenment or something of the sorts in the chapter, it could be used, but this is not the case.

The word "single" that we see in "when thine eyes become single" comes from the Greek word "haplos" or "halpous" which literally means simple, focused, or single as to purpose. What this means is not literally "when your eyes become single" but it means when your "eyes" are focused onto one thing, and not all around. When you are focused on God and not focused on other things such as money, sex, drugs, and other sinful things you will be filled with Light, which is God. Spiritual people will insist that this verse makes even more sense because the "God" they believe in is energy, and light. Even though this is true, God is a Spirit and not some old white man in the clouds, this is a pretty poor defense. What Jesus is saying is that when you are good, and focused on God, you will be filled with Him.

The eye is the lamp of the body. This is regarding the mind, the eye of the soul. If your mind (eye) is focused on God, it is the lamp to your body, or soul. Many scholars will say, and I agree with this, that Jesus was referring to the good eye as being generous and good, and the evil eye as being selfish, and bad. The basic point is that Jesus is not referring to a third eye, but is referring to what your mind is focused on and that if you are concentrated in one direction (being God and overall goodness) than your body (soul) will be filled with Light and the Light in you (God) will be a lamp to your life, leading you. If you are selfish and a bad person, your eye (mind) will be filled with darkness and you will probably get lost, with no lamp.

With this being said, and no further discussion necessary, this verse can in no way be used as a defense for the third eye as the word they use to defend such a belief does not mean "single" in the literal terms but means "single as to purpose" or "simple." These arguments now cannot stand their ground and must be tossed out. To paraphrase what Jesus was saying, upon my own understanding, can result in two things:

• The mind is the lamp of your life, body, and soul. If your mind is focused on God then you will be filled with Him. If your mind is focused on other things and not God, then you will be filled with darkness and how great is that darkness.
• The mind is the lamp of our life, body, and soul. If you are a kind, generous, and good person you will be filled with God and goodness. If you are a selfish, uncaring, and bad person you will be filled with darkness and how great is that darkness.

To further understand, the "lamp" is used in many scripture verses as referring to God and His Direction in our lives. In Psalm 119:105 we see "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Also in Matthew 25:1-13 we see Jesus speaking a parable of the ten virgins and lamps. The "lamp" is used to signify God's Light in our lives as a way to see our way, and get closer to Him. Not considering these things but just taking a verse out of the bible (usually without reading the bible in entirety) is not getting a true understanding but just using something to support a certain opinion.

Go in peace

Although brief, there is not much more needed or available to defeat this belief. The very word these deceivers use is not the actual meaning and their knowledge is not coming from God, but from satan. Seekers must take warning that the third eye is a huge part of the occult and is used by people in the occult. It is in no way a Christian thing and I am not the Judge but I can say with full confidence that the third eye will only do one thing with God: keep you from Him. If you are participating in third eye beliefs and practices I urge you to repent and run to the Cross; He will save you and if you have faith in Jesus Christ being the Only and True Son of God and The Only Way you will be rescued and lifted up. God warns us of staying as far away from the occult and paganism as possible and I assure you that this New Age movement and Eastern beliefs / spirituality /philosophy are indeed part of the occult.

Do not trust a person who is saying that Jesus supports the third eye but do as John says in 1 John 1-3: "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world."

I pray that this has helped someone and has set some things straight. Although people will debate this until they are blue in the face, remember that facts always override opinion. God bless and may He lead you closer and closer.

There is only one way and that is Jesus' way,no two ways about. Emptiness and lack of knowledge concerning the word of God is what is causing most people to wander away from the Truth, trying to find some quick fix. with God everything has to go through a process there is no shortcut whatsoever.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge anyone who has opened their third eye because once it's open it's open. That doesn't stop Jesus Christ and our Father in heaven from loving and saving you. I will say this though you may get what you're asking for if you're playing around with it I did. I was lead astray from God and I've had many demonic things go on I've even talked to the devil himself I believe. I can't remember if that was before or after I opened my eye. I did have paranormal experiences before I ever played with my pineal gland but now that I have opened it I'm very in tune to the world that's right here all around us. The Veil between the Worlds is very thin for me. I can't even begin to explain everything I've experienced but I definitely see that I was in serious trouble the devil had a serious hold on me. I truly believe God intervened the way he did in my life just because my mother prayed for me so much and I'm tearing up just thinking about how great he is and how loving he is for saving someone like me from the life I was living. I owe everything to him but I still can sense and see things sometimes and I can see how the Devil is working through people that are lost now that I'm with God. So in a way I did gain some power from it but it's not anything you wouldn't get by asking God for intuition and discernment in everything you do. If you don't think there's a battle for your soul all day everyday you're sadly mistaken but it's such an easy fight to win with God on your side because who could be against you if God is with you ?

for all of you that profess Christianity that are foolish enough to partake of such false teaching of things with absolutely no scriptural reference, here is what that gland is and its function. . It is important that we have one and that it does its job as stated. There is no such thing as a third eye in a human. There is no scriptural story around it.

I was practicing the third eye for the reason of learning to be a medium or something, thinking it would be great to know it all, then i got thinking do i want to know it all. I meditated for two months and the results were surprising. The staring at the trees for enlightment was i seen my deceased neighbor and his father in cartoon sort of way. I was looking for images of animals in the trees.I have done a lot of research and my way of thinking is that jesus is saving us from the wrong doing satan is helping us with so we dont live our lives to the fullest.I am a poker face myself, someone with a serious face at all time but when i think jesus is beside me well i feel happier and thats the way of health soul. amen.

I used to be a devout agnostic. For about twenty-seven years of my life I searched the world , the religions, the metaphysical the physical even of course the Word. It wasn't until about halfway through my current 20-year marriage did I met man named David S. Ritsema, PhD who got sent to lead me to the Lord.

Now at some unnamed seminary in the Dallas-Fort Worth area whenever a new PhD student graduated they would have a Satanist, luciferian, agnostic, atheist, naturalist, Etc argue their points in front of a congregation with the new Graduate.

Well for over 6 years I just happened to be that agnostic person who argued my points.

Even though I was into the metaphysical, as I was still attempting to find some truth, I still just argued for the agnostic and to the dislike of the other religions it was very easy to argue.

Positions that I held such as all truth is volatile, there's nothing that you can believe today, even be willing to die for it today, that you would not be willing to die for the opposite tomorrow.

As well as comments like your will cannot unwill itself, your perception cannot perceive itself and the only constant phenomenon IS change.

I do not wish to speak any more of my past heresy, as I certainly don't want to bring any doubt two anyone.

Needless to say God found me, by a man that I personally believe was the only man that God could have sent to have changed my views.

So little by little I would speak to David and the funny thing is is he never once mentioned God. We just became good friends not mentioning our differences the both knowing them.

The point that I'm getting it is there has been many attacks on the Gospels especially in post modernistic times.

I am still a baby Seminary Student so I don't wish to comment on the distractions this article has brought because it would require me to study it just as I would not like anyone to concentrate on my previous views in these statements that I made when I argued agnosticism.

What I do find very confusing is this a place for Seminary students or theological graduates?

I understand that they're certainly not going to be agreeance upon all things, however I find it difficult that the focus is in the differences that most have.

God gave us free will when he created us. He cast satan out if heaven and places him on earth. When Adam and Eve were created he also created the forbidden tree of knowledge and Eve was decieved by satan to eat the fruit. Here's my take on the Third Eye; It's real, it has been given to us by God. I believe it was opened when Adam and Eve partook of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, and subsequently then closed, when they fell. I believe in seers and visions, prophecy, etc. We use the Third Eye in those instances. That being said, it's a dangerous thing to venture out on one's own, using hallucinogens to see. I have always approached the Lord in prayer and requested the accompaniment of the Holy Spirit when the Lord has things to show me...but I always leave that up to Him. I wouldn't condone just stepping out there on one's own. You have no power over those entities you would encounter if you go out on your own will, and deception abounds. Yes, the Third Eye is an organ for seeing, and it should be given to God for redemptive purposes.

that "falling out" is something weve grown into. I strongly believe perspective is a key part of our spirituality and when our perspective is (purposelly changed) by a system molded in poison and bad intent, it makes sense as to why we would need to "Open our third eye"

My third eye was opened it was crazy I was reading my bible cover to cover I was reading about 4 or 5 chapters a day. And I had pain on top of my head and my forehead tingling seeing number sequence every time I turned around. I walked into speedway and I no more than looked up a demon possessed man ran was tripping over himself trying to get away from me.

Wow! Good article... On November 6, 2015 around 9pm my third eye opened. I was so scared and spooked out because i thought i was going to die. My awareness was all the way up and my heart just starting beating super fast. I got scared and ran into the bathroom and got onto my knees and started praying because the way i felt was unreal. I prayed and prayed to the Father in Jesus Name......then all of a sudden i broke down and cried and stood up and just started to Thank Jesus because i feel like at the moment in time God actually heard me and he was there to save me. Everything around me felt different, i looked at my clock and it happened to be 9:22pm. Then all of a sudden, it's like my third eye closed. That was the most scariest experience of my life. Every since then my third eye has not opened back up. I don't know what it was but i Thank the Father in Jesus Name for being there for me.

This post is very intriguing! I recently came to Christ this past year after being raised Jewish( mom Jewish dad catholic)and many posts here consider one particular persons opinion on their interpretation of scripture. Prior to coming to Christ I considered myself spiritual, as I'm a strong empath have always had a great deal of spiritual discernment since I was a little kid and had friends that were psychics and healers. In the last six months I have read through the bible and am currently reading through it again, have been doing a great deal of research and am challenged at times by different beliefs of different churches. I have met many Christians who consider psychic occult but because they use the term prophesy it is ok, although from both my non Christian psychic friends as well as Christian friends who can prophesy they see and hear similar things. I also have met people with hard core thoughts including pastors that have beliefs because of their interpretation of the bible and have judgements but still celebrate Christmas... Which my bubble was burst recently because I found out that A) Jesus was actually born in September , B) Christmas was a holiday adopted by Christians so they could convert pagans and let them keep their holiday( the now Christmas was the last day of a weeklong festival of lawlessness marked by rape, drinking, food gorging, etc) and also a celebration of a different God maybe sun god I don't remember)C) bible says not to chop down and decorate trees as the pagans did ... All of these pastors, people who judge others, "REAL" Christians are not doing what God says to do and they participate in the traditions of man instead of listening to the word of God...and the excuse is well what is important is that even though it started that way what is important is that we remember Jesus... No that is an excuse... "Real Christians" and those in positions of power are refusing to follow the Bible because it is how they were raised and they like Christmas (no other Christian holiday is in Bible and is man made tradition)because it is pretty and you get cool gifts(I like that part too) but it is so hard as a new Christian being guided by people who listen to some parts of bible but twist others to fit them... Just like how it says women should not teach but women and children and there are tons of female pastors( and I'm a female all for equality but the bible is clear about what it says)and when I ask they say well... Those were the times that's not how it is today I'm like well... Then can't anyone say being against homosexuality(I have gay friends) was just for the times etc. I'm super frustrated being a new Christian and hearing so many people say the bible is the only true word of God but pick and choose what they follow.

This is not a good rebuttle for not using our third eye. By using my third eye and using light work, I do not think I am above my Lord. For he is the light within me. And Jesus said we shall do these things even greater.

In 2 Kings 2:11-12 (MKJV) And it happened as they went on and talked, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire [came], and they separated between them both. And Elijah went up in a tempest into Heaven.

And Elisha saw, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen! And he saw him no more. And he took hold of his clothes and tore them in two pieces.

If that what Elisa saw not in third eye state, then he cant see that chariot of fire suddenly apperance. Because our naked eye cant see the "unseen" if God didnt reopen our third chakra. Before Christ exist there's already have a sign of third eye in old testament more than that verses. Then why did you deny if God itself to reopen it ? Thats our natural gift before we fall in sin. Just let God reopen it through prayer and you will know what I am talking about.

I have been searching high and low as a Christian to find answers as to whether or not I should awaken my pineal gland. I find so many different conflicting versions of peoples interpretations of the Bible. I only made this comment because reading your article, though interesting, I found it confusing. I know you had stated in his article that you yourself headed attempted or had opened your third eye and found it to be a mistake. I'm not sure when this article was wrote, but on March 30th of 2012, you were fascinated at an individual's intellect and study of the Bible. you made positive comments on his article about the wrestling God awakening Jacobs pineal gland. Your comments on his article were completely contradictive to your article. Which belief do you have on the subject? I am struggling with the choice of to awaken or not. I was raised Southern Baptist, but am an non-denominational Christian.

In my perspective, God does not frown upon enlightenment and the third eye at all but does on those who do not believe that he has came in the flesh as Jesus. Rev. 8 & 9 explains how Gods chosen ones will bear the mark on their foreheads and in the time Gods wrath will not harm them. But like you have said if a man that has his third eye open and denies God will not reap the benefits, but he who believes in Christ and meditates with no lust for power or to be more that who he is but to become peace will receive enlightenment and enter into the gates of heaven. We all need to understand that all the apostles were mystics. They meditated with 12 essential oils that had very spiritual properties and mainly had the ability to open their third eye. These oils help them overcome saten and sin and enabled them to come closer to God. Also these apostles were Jews (not the Jews we have today) but very spiritual Jews. They studied the kabbalah which explains how the apostles like Moses, Ezekiel and Daniel used this form of meditation to connect with God. They believed in the ten aspects of God which equals one and if you look at the Jewish chakra system it is very similar to the Buddha system of the 7 chakras. The Biblical apostles are just like the Buddhist. Don't forget that these apostles believed that God made everything come into being with 7 vibrations and they are the 7 base letters of the Jewish alphebet, similar to the 7 muddras of the Buddhist tradition and they call it the vibrations of the universe and life. All religions are connected and there's nothing we can do about it. Jesus Christ is just the missing link and God in the flesh.

i am a man with the last name of a father whose not my own. adam and eve ate from the tree of knowledge. woman child birth was established through violation of god and man accepting sin into the spirit god provided by eating fruit from the tree of knowledge. eventually the sin was greatly scared into most of man soul. god sent a flood and established a covenant to not destroy the world again by water. then god sent his son in the flesh. when Jesus died all of man would be saved if they believe that he is the son of god in flesh.........i believe the things that we could do before we were born into sin are available to us after we accept Jesus Christ as the true savior and son of god in flesh. i most definitely believe Jesus is the son of god and my savior. i believe that i am a man created in gods image and with the tree of knowledge fruit still in me even though i am saved through the power of Jesus,,,,,God can see what he has created through our third eye witch gives us the ability to fight demons knowing was is true and righteous witch is god almighty and the spirit he put in us that we can listen to know from right or wrong..........

i am not into this third eye stuff but through pain and awareness of someone i love and the demon that is in them and has consumed them and through the love of Jesus Christ he has opened my eyes completely and equipped me with the power to defend my spirit against these demons attacking my spirit.

Considering you said within your own understanding proves you're looking at it in a twisted way yourself.the pineal gland was in fact created by god and in some of his teachings he says to meditate.but to meditate upon his word and him. I agree some meditation is bad like yoga.but the bible has been affected by man and the church that decided what stories to publish in the bible we have access to today. I believe God put the third eye there so we can be spiritually enlightened through him and him alone. See what I noticed is the more I have faith in God and obey his every command the more I receive messages from him. He is constantly in communication with me. I feel that it is through the third eye that we grow spiritually but only through our beliefs in God. Not through forcing it open. That would be evil. Only God can open our third eye. When you have real beliefs in God the more your third eye will become open. You will see the world more clearer. You will feel the light. Happiness will flood you. God regularly speaks to you in many different ways. He is in constant touch with you when you love and obey him to the best of your understanding. The third eye should only be opened by God and will slowly decalcify as you grow spiritually. All you can do is obey God and love and respect Jesus as your saviour to your fullest potential and you will see the difference. Everything in the world becomes clear. Television, illuminati, the ways the world controls us. Not everyone can reach this. Many people that do not even believe in God are forcing open there 3rd eye and they see bad things because they have done the wrong this. They are not full of light and they have no protection from God.
