The Crescent Star
The Black Stone
The Footsteps of Abraham
The pagan Muslim
Islam projects itself as monolithic and monotheistic religion, unalterable and perfect, with Muhammad its chief and last prophet of God. The crescent moon and star fluttering atop mosques, betraying its pagan roots, there for all to see
Muhammad, in establishing Islam did so by merging the many pagan beliefs into a single doctrine, unyielding and contemptuous of all that went before them and of those yet to cross their paths. The moon and the star usurped from the pagan gods Sin or Shiva.
Muslims perform pagan worship in many ways. They pray five times while facing Mecca, a pagan practice, this not unique to Islam, the Zoroastrians were expected to to say their prayer, the Kusti, five times a day, while facing east.
Mecca is the holiest place in Islam with the Kaaba at its center. Muslim must go on Hajj (pilgrimage) at least once in their lifetime. Here they must wear white, shave their head and stone the three stone Pillars at Mina with seven pebbles. They must walk around the Kabba seven times, kiss the Black Stone and perform animal sacrifices. These pagan rituals go back hundreds of years before the advent of Islam
The word Allah is a derivation of the the moon god Al-ailah, also know as Sin, Hubul or Ilumquh. He is the highest ranking god in the pre-islamic pantheon. Another prominent pre-Islamic monument, the Kaaba housed 360 god, in fact the Kaaba was called the house of Al-ailah.
Al-ailah occupied a place of prominence among the Quraish, Muhammad’s tribe. This chief god had three daughters, Al-Uzzah (Venus) to whom humans were sacrificed. Manah, goddess of destiny and Al-Lat, goddess of vegetation, all three goddesses are mentioned in the Quran.
The moon occupies a very central place in a Muslims life, it is the guiding light in all festivals and rituals
Muhammad made many political pacts with the pagan leaders such as Abu Suffian to accommodate his new religion. To make Islam more palatable to new converts, Muhammad agreed to incorporate many of the pagan rituals and gods and goddesses into his new religion. In return Muhammad asked the pagans to worship Al-ailah or Allah.
Once Muhammad consolidated his control and Islam was more firmly entrenched, he went back on his word, many of the idols were destroyed with many of the gods and goddesses converted to the 99 names of Allah in the Quran
In Mecca during the Hajj pilgrims walk frantically seven times between the two mounts,Safa and Marwa. This pagan tradition was retained by Muhammad for financial reasons. The moon-god Sin/ Hubal, is still unwittingly revered by Muslims. You are likely to find the moon god’s symbol, the crescent moon, positioned at a high point of the mosque, the universal symbol for Islam.
In Vedic times Arabia was known as Arvasthan, a place were exceptional horses were bred, the name derived from the Sanskrit, Arva(horses) and Sthan(place).
The worship of Venus as depicted by the star has continued in Islam, with Muslims having their main prayer on Friday, which is the same day allotted to Venus by many pagan faiths, including Hinduism
The most central focus of Muslim worship, is the Hajar Aswad or Black stone at the Kaaba. The Quran mentions the stone was originally white. It is a symbol of the Vedic god Shiva, so when millions of staunch and devout Muslims kiss the Black Stone, they kiss the sacred emblem of Shiva.
The Black Stone was broken in seven places and now is held together by a silver band, studded with silver nails. The Black Stone's face measures about 20 cm by 16 cm, its original size is uncertain. Muhammad Ali Pasha reported it as being 0.76 m long by 0.46 m wide.If the Muslim authorities allow archaeological excavation to be carried out in the precincts of the Kaaba, many questions could be answered.
Mecca has two important pagan symbols, which make it difficult to ignore any links with Vedic India, the black stone and the Zam Zam well. A black stone is sacred as Shiva Linga and a spring as the Ganges, both very much revered in India. The Crescent Moon another emblem of Shiva can be seen at the pinnacle of the Kaaba pointing to the Vedic origins of the Kaaba.
Muslims from all over the world pay homage to the shrine Maqam-E-Ibrahim. This shrine is the pedestal depicting the footsteps of Brahma, not the footsteps of Abraham. It is common practice for Hindus to venerate footprints.
The Islamic practice of breaking the fast of Ramadan on the sighting of the new moon is similar to the Hindu custom of breaking fast on many religious occasions, such as Makar Sankranti and Vinayak Chaturthi.
The Quran is very much alive with the many traditions of the past, the pagan roots of Islam run deep and give life to a faith that would have been just another short lived cult

All the information provided thus far, in the comments only advance and bolster my assertion that Islam is a pagan religion. You have to be really stupid not to see that. Just like Judaism evolved out of Canaanite paganism, so did Islam. They also kept all the symbols of that pagan worship. Quoting verses from the Koran does not an argument make. Its a circular exercise.

The word Mohammd is not mentioend in this verse, why is it assumed it is in ref to Mohammed? the Miraj story is tolen from pagans and it is NOT in the Quran
ACCORDING TO THE QURAN-NO MIRACLES PERFORMED BY THE RUSOOLS
Ascent into Heaven: The hagiography of Islam assures us that Prophet Mohammad ascended to heaven from Jerusalem on the mythical beast Burrrak. He crossed the 7 spheres, exchanged greetings with the patriarchs and beheld the glory of God.
The Dinkard tells us that at the entreaties of Asho Zarthustra Bahman Ameshaspand transcendentally elevated his consciousness to the realm of heaven wherein Asho Zarthustra looked at the reflugent majesty of God. A similar journey was attributed to the virtuous Ardaviraf who visited hell, purgatory and heaven during his spiritual journey.
Similar story is found in Roman Mythology when Muses travelled riding an animal like horse with wings http://www.mainlesson.com/display.php?author=baldw...
Lets see what Quran says, In sura17 :90-93
the objections of the people of Mohammad is quoted, It says, they said ....... "We shall not accept till you create a spring for us from the earth.
or you own a garden of dates palms vines and make rivers in the midst of the garden or cause the sky to fall on us in parts as you have threatened us or you bring God and angels in front of us, or if you have a house of Gold or You ASCEND to heavens.......... NO...........We will not even accept your ascension unless you bring down to us from heavens a BOOK which we could read. Declare ......... Limitless is the glory of my God. I am only a messenger from the human beings." (traditional translation)
Now conjure the situation when S Mohammad is asked to ASCEND INTO HEAVENS, but he is refusing to do so. He was asked to perform miracle OF ASCENSION DURING THE DAYTIME IN SUNLIGHT, but he is acknowledging his lack of ability to do so, because as being a human, he can’t perform such acts (Miracles)
Ponder, how can he claim to perform the same act during the night when there was nobody to observe his miracle?
Pause and reflect, imagine the reaction of his people.......or of any person for that matter.
THIS VERSE TOTALLY NEGATES HIS STORY OF MERAJ IN PARTICULAR AND OTHER MIRACLES IN GENERAL.

what is MECCA/BECCA?

HOW CAN A PHYSICAL HOUSE /PLACE BE GUIDANCE?
The word Makka and Bakka both are used in the Quran. Still it is said that:-
“[2:125. Bakkah came to be known as Makkah later. In the ancient Arabic dialect b was interchangeable with m]” QXP
How many words in the Quran are we going to change because their “ancient use” was different? What is the source for this information? why are both words used in the same Quran if B was interchangable with M?
When were anyone given the authority to change the words in the Quran?
Let’s have a look at the words in the Quran
48:24 - MAKKATA مَكَّةَ Allama Rasheed Namani (Page 433 of Vol 5)
"Tamakkato al-Azm” = I sucked the marrow of the bone,
"Imtakk al-Faseel” = Baby of the camel sucked all the milk from its mothers breast
The meaning of Makka is to “suck” –
3:96 BIBAKKA بِبَكَّةَ
This word consists of two words, bi ب and bakka بکہ
Be” means "with" not "in" or "within".
The word for "in" is Fe (فی) If it was said “in Bakka” It would have been Fe bakka (بکہ فی )
This word means to “constitute/ institute/ to start/found” It does not mean “to build” I.E it means to constitute an ideology, a way of thought,
The next verses make it even clearer
3:97 Wherein are plain memorials (of Allah's guidance); the place where Abraham stood up to pray; and whosoever entereth it is safe. And pilgrimage to the House is a duty unto Allah for mankind, for him who can find a way thither. As for him who DISBELIEVETH / KAFARA / DENY (let him know that) lo! Allah is Independent of (all) creatures.
SO HOW CAN YOU DENY A PHYSICAL HOUSE/ BUILDING?

The word "celebrate" and its derivatives are used only three times in the KJV, but the NIV uses them eighty-three times. The word "celebrate" is the translation of the Hebrew verb hagag, which means to prepare, keep, or observe a feast or festival; the noun hag, which indicates a feast or festival; and the verb asaa which means to do, make, or celebrate. These words are used to describe the celebration of the three main pilgrimage feasts-
Passover was first instituted by Moses. He asked for Pharaoh's permission to go into the desert "to celebrate a festival to the Lord" ( Exod 10:9 ). The celebration of Passover is spelled out fully in Exodus 12:3-40. God sent a plague that took the lives of the firstborn children in the Egyptian homes but passed over the homes of the Israelites. Passover marks the passing from slavery in Egypt to freedom in the promised land. Exodus 12:14 gives the guidelines: "This is a day you are to commemorate, for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord-a lasting ordinance." It is also known as the Feast of Unleavened Bread, because "it was on this very day that I brought your divisions out of Egypt. Celebrate this day as a lasting ordinance for the generations to come" ( Exod 12:17 ).
(The Passover sacrifice (Hebrew: Korban Pesakh קרבן פסח), also known as the "sacrifice of Passover", the Paschal Lamb, or thePassover Lamb, is the sacrifice that the Torah mandates to be brought on the eve of Passover, and eaten on the first night of the holiday with bitter herbs and matzo. According to the Torah, it was first offered on the night of the Israelites' Exodus from Egypt. Although practiced by Jews in ancient times, the ritual is today only practiced by Samaritans at Mount Gerizim)

In some regions, this is also a night when one's deceased ancestors are commemorated

Then I ask him from now we should also call Adam son of god. And bible should also represent Adam as god's son. That moment stewert told me that in holy bilbel . Torah and quran he is called as human which god has created with clay and pour a soul in his clayish body .. My friend if some one with ltl common sense said that Jesus is son of god bcz he didn't had father then y they change the course for Adam as we all know he didn't had his both parents ... Think about it .. After that stewert replied by saying Jesus is son of god is not a litrely means son like we described in wordly meaning it's just a representation we attribut to him ... On his that reply I ask ok then Adam should be also be called gods sense not in wordly meaning ... He smiles at me and said yea y the hell I never thought that way ... He is still my friend and he is still Christian ... In Islam to be Christian is not a sin bcz we all know Jesus is amongs the messengers of god but saying that he is son of god is a sin .... vin it's all about common sense nothing else we require if we have that precious gift ... Qur'an 3:64-71 Surah Ale-'Imran (The Family of 'Imran)
Say: "O people of the Book! come to common terms as between us and you: that we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with Him; that we erect not from among ourselves Lords and patrons other than Allah." If then they turn back say: "Bear witness that we (at least) are Muslims (bowing to Allah's will)."
Ye people of the Book! why dispute ye about Abraham when the Law and the Gospel were not revealed till after him? Have ye no understanding?
Ah! ye are those who fell to disputing (even) in matters of which ye had some knowledge! but why dispute ye in matters of which ye have no knowledge? It is Allah Who knows and ye who know not!
Abraham was not a Jew nor yet a Christian but he was true in faith and bowed his will to Allah's (which is Islam) and he joined not gods with Allah.
Without doubt among men the nearest of kin to Abraham are those who follow him as are also this Apostle and those who believe; and Allah is the Protector of those who have faith.
It is the wish of a section of the People of the Book to lead you astray. But they shall lead astray (not you) but themselves and they do not perceive!
Ye People of the Book! Why reject ye the Signs of Allah of which ye are (yourselves) witnesses?
Ye People of the Book! Why do ye clothe truth with falsehood and conceal the truth while ye have knowledge?
There Is No God but He the Exalted in Power the Wise
Qur'an 3:18-20 Surah Ale-'Imran (The Family of 'Imran)
There is no god but He: that is the witness of Allah His angels and those endued with knowledge standing firm on justice. There is no god but He the Exalted in Power the Wise.
The Religion before Allah is Islam (submission to His will): nor did the people of the Book dissent therefrom except through envy of each other after knowledge had come to them. But if any deny the Signs of Allah Allah is swift in calling to account.
So if they dispute with thee say: "I have submitted my whole self to Allah and so have those who follow me." And say to the people of the Book and to those who are unlearned: "Do ye (also) submit yourselves?" If they do they are in right guidance but if they turn back thy duty is to convey the Message; and in Allah's sight are (all) His servants.
Exceed Not in Your Religion the Bounds
Qur'an 5:77-80 Surah Al-Ma'idah (The Table Spread)
Say: "O people of the Book! exceed not in your religion the bounds (of what is proper) trespassing beyond the truth nor follow the vain desires of people who went wrong in times gone by who misled many and strayed (themselves) from the even way.
Curses were pronounced on those among the Children of Israel who rejected faith by the tongue of David and of Jesus the son of Mary: because they disobeyed and persisted in excesses.
Nor did they (usually) forbid one another the iniquities which they committed: evil indeed were the deeds which they did.
Thou seest many of them turning in friendship to the unbelievers. Evil indeed are (the works) which their souls have sent forward before them (with the result) that Allah's wrath is on them and in torment will they abide.
Commit No Excesses in Your Religion
Qur'an 4:171 Surah An-Nisaa (The Women)
O people of the Book! commit no excesses in your religion: nor say of Allah aught but truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) an Apostle of Allah and His Word which He bestowed on Mary and a Spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His Apostles. Say not "Trinity": desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is One Allah: glory be to him: (for Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.
Revealing Much That You Used to Hide in the Book
Qur'an 5:15-19 Surah Al-Ma'idah (The Table Spread)
O People of the Book! there hath come to you Our Apostle revealing to you much that ye used to hide in the Book and passing over much (that is now unnecessary): There hath come to you from Allah a (new) Light and a perspicuous Book.
Wherewith Allah guideth all who seek His good pleasure to ways of peace and safety and leadeth them out of darkness by His Will unto the light guideth them to a Path that is Straight.
In blasphemy indeed are those that say that Allah is Christ the son of Mary. Say: "Who then hath the least power against Allah if His Will were to destroy Christ the son of Mary his mother and all everyone that is on the earth? For to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between. He createth what He pleaseth. For Allah hath power over all things."
(Both) the Jews and the Christians say: "We are sons of Allah and His beloved." Say: "Why then doth He punish you for your sins? Nay ye are but men of the men He hath created: He forgiveth whom He pleaseth and He punisheth whom He pleaseth: and to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between: and unto Him is the final goal (of all)."
O people of the Book! now hath come unto you making (things) clear unto you Our Apostle after the break in (the series of) Our apostles lest ye should say: there came unto us no bringer of glad tidings and no warner (from evil): but now hath come unto you a bringer of glad tidings and a warner (from evil): and Allah hath power over all things.
Disapprove for No Other Reason than That We Believe in Allah
Qur'an 5:59 Surah Al-Ma'idah (The Table Spread)
Say: "O People of the Book! do ye disapprove of us for no other reason than that we believe in Allah and the revelation that hath come to us and that which came before (us) and (perhaps) that most of you are rebellious and disobedient?"
You Would Think It Is a Part of the Book but it Is No Part of the Book
Qur'an 3:72-80 Surah Ale-'Imran (The Family of 'Imran)
A section of the People of the Book say: "Believe in the morning what is revealed to the believers but reject it at the end of the day; perchance they may (themselves) turn back.
"And believe no one unless he follows your religion." Say: "True guidance is the guidance of Allah; (fear ye) lest a revelation be sent to someone (else) like unto that which was sent unto you. Or that those (receiving such revelation) should engage you in argument before your Lord." Say: "All bounties are in the hand of Allah: He granteth them to whom He pleaseth; and Allah careth for all and He knoweth all things."
For His Mercy He specially chooseth whom He pleaseth: for Allah is the Lord of bounties unbounded.

I appreciate what you say about god. All I was pointing out is no religion is better than the other. Each religion has taken ideas from other religions that came before it.
Thank you for your contribution Esa, it was very much appreciated :)

My friends all we should know is that Allah . God . Yahweh . Rab. Creator .. Etc are same different names of same identity ... As far as facing towards kabba during prayers was not from the beginning of Islam and it's preaching . Muslim were offering their prayers in starting days of Islam facing towards Jerusalem masjid Ul aqsa .. During that time Jews announced that Muhammad is nothing but continuity of Jewish prophethood . And they stars tempering Islam in their own way. And they also invite Muhammad to come to them and take refuge in Jews society . But Muhammad asked Allah . God . Rab. Or creator how to respond on their this invitation . and that time Allah send a ravalation ( face where ever u want . Surly u will find me. all directions are mine and it comes to me . And I command u to turn ur face towards kabba to which ibraham offers his prayers .) and as far as Islam is concerned its is not a religion of Muhammad it is a rivival of ibraham religion . Because before Islam Christian and Jews were contradicting each one in his own holy ways and for that Allah says in quran ( why are u debating about Jesus son of Mary and Moses . Debate about ibraham so he was before them and not worshiping other then one Allah ) so it is clear it's deen-e-ibrahami .. My friends I like the way u guys debate in meture way and I am looking forward for urs healthy and precious opinions ( May Allah keep u safe and blessed and protect all human from the sher of satan)

You make a good point, all I was doing was pointing out was that Islam is no different to other religions, blood thirsty.
Suhail Zubaid aka Clark Kent from Mississauga, ON on September 01, 2013:
I am a Muslim, but only by birth. I am sure if I were born in a Hindu family, I would be a Hindu, but by birth only and if I were born in a Christian family, I would be a Christian by birth only.
Those who are most self-righteous in the beliefs they follow I pity the most, because they are followers of their faiths not because they researched but because they were born of the parents living in that faith.
All I want to say is this whole discussion of which religion is better is useless. It creates division among people. So forget about religious debate, get into real problems of our present day - environmental degradation, poverty, corporate greed, hijacking of democracy by few rich, human craze for war, etc.

Surah 17:1 : " Praise be unto him, who transported his servant by night, from the sacred temple (of Mecca) to the farthest temple (of Jerusalem), the circuit of which we have blessed, that we may shew (some) of our signs; for (God is) he who heareth, and seeth."
"Glory be to him who took his devotee (Muhammad) one night from Masjid-Al-Haram (in Makkah) to Masjid-Al-Aqsa (in Jerusalem), whose vicinity we have blessed, so that we may show him some of our signs; Surely he is the one Who is the hearer, the observer."
The difficulty that arises from this account in the Quran is the fact that there was no Mosque in Jerusalem during the lifetime of Muhammad. Masjid-Al-Aqsa was built many years after the death of Muhammad. Neither was there a Jewish Temple, as it has been completely destroyed by the Romans in 70 C.E.
Ibn Ishaq, Sirat Rasulullah, P. 184 :
"Umm, Abu Talib's daughter said: "The Apostle went on no night journey except while he was in my house. He slept in my home that night after he prayed his final night prayer. A little before dawn he woke us, Saying, 'O Umm, I went to Jerusalem.' He got up to go out and I grabbed hold of his robe and laid bare his belly. I pleaded, 'O Muhammad, don't tell the people about this for they will know you are lying and will mock you.' He said, 'By Allah, I will tell them.' I told a Negress slave of mine, 'Follow and listen'"
Here, Muhammad conjured up one of the most preposterous lies ever uttered in the name of religion. The vital question is, "How did this lie perpetrated by Muhammad got into the Quran?" Since Surah 17:1 presents the night journey as a factual event, it's an admission that Islamic Allah has misled not only the early Muslims, but every single Muslims throughout the ages in thinking that this was a truthful event.

The pagan gods of pre-Islamic Arabia were worshipped in the form of rectangular stones or rocks. The pagan deity 'Al-Lat', mentioned in the Quran 53:19, and believed by pre-Islamic pagans to be one of the daughters of Allah, was once venerated as a cubic rock at Ta'if in Saudi Arabia. An edifice was built over the rock to mark apart as a house of worship.
Al-Lat stood in Al-Ta'if, and was more recent than manah. She was a cubic rock beside which a certain Jew prepare his barley porridge(sawiq). Her custody was in the hands of the banu-Attab-ibn-Malik of the Thayif, who had built an edifice over her. She is the idol which Allah mentioned when He said, "Have you seen Al-Lat and Al-Uzza (Surah 53:19) : Kitab Al-Asnam (The Book of Idols), p 14
There is no denying that the Black Stone was among many stones and idols venerated at the Ka'aba by the pre-Islamic pagans. The Black Stone was kissed during pre-Islamic pagan worship. Though Muhammad threw out 360 idols at the Ka'aba, he retained this Black Stone and continued the practice of kissing it. It is this same stone that the pre-Islamic pagans once kissed, that muslims kissed when visiting Mecca.
Hachem911 on August 05, 2013:
Doing Tawaf between Safa and Marwa is an Isalmic ritual associated with the pilgrimage to Mecca. Safa and Marwa are two mountains located at Mecca. This ritual entail muslims walking frantically between the two mountains seven times. This was originally a pagan pre-Islamic practice. Muhammad retained it for islam, sanctioning it with yet another Quranic revelation.
Narrated 'Assim: I asked Anas bin Malik: "Did you use to dislike to perform Tawaf between Safa and Marwa?" He said, Yes, as it was of the ceremonies of the days of the Pre-Islamic period of ignorance, till Allah revealed: Verily! The two mountains As-Safa and Al-Marwa are among the symbols of Allah. It is therefore no sin for him who perform the pilgrimage to the Ka'aba or perform "Umra, to perform Tawaf between them." Sahih Bukhari 2:26:710
Clearly, the Hadith testifies that Muhammad adopted this pagan ceremony from the pre-Islamic "period of ignorance" and justified it with yet another convenient Quranic revelation.
Vin Chauhun on August 05, 2013:
That is exactly my point, the entire worship at the Kaaba is pagan--Muslims don't want to see that. As for the Koran, there are too many repetitions and contradictions, i gave up reading it.
hachem911 on August 05, 2013:
Narrated Abu Dhaar: I said, "O Allah's apostle! Which mosque was built first? "He replied, "Al-Masjid-ul-Haram. I asked, "Which was built next?" He replied, "AL-Masjid-ul-Aqsa (i.e. Jerusalem)." I asked, What was the period in between them? He replied, forty years
The Hebrew temple of Solomon at Jerusalem was built at around 958-951 BC. This implies that if Muhammad were to be believed, the Ka'aba must have been built approximately 998-991 BC. But Abraham lived around 2000 BC and both Abraham and Ishmael would have been dead by then.
If Muhammad is correct, then the Koran (and therefore Allah) is wrong. But if the Koran is correct in stating that Abraham and Ishmael built the Ka'aba, then Muhammad and the Sahih Hadith is wrong.
The Ka'aba has nothing to do with Abraham or Ishmael. It has a wholly pagan heritage. Egyptian Professor and foremost authority on Arabic literature, Dr. Taha Husayn, said the following:
The case for this episode is very obvious because it is of recent date and came into vogue just before the rise of Islam. Islam exploited it for religious reasons.

Regarding the Kabah, I am open to the viewpoint it resembles pagan origin. I never cared for ALL the ritual specifics of religion. For example, a lot of Muslims spend too much time analyzing the exact placement of hands during prayer. That's just silly to me.
I do think it is important for practicing Muslims to acknowledge the spirituality of Islam. Circling the Kabah 7 times cultivates energy. Praying 5 times a day, cultivates energy.
I think you propose interesting viewpoints.

Thank U Jehan for your contribution, I am currently attempting to study the Quran, so as to give me a greater understanding, its good points and bad. i believe all religion are evolving, and as for al/el..and especially with Al in the Arabic sense means the One [high] god...and this can be traced back to pre-paganIslam, my point...it should be seen as a point of invalidation, as many muslims do now....just like the Hebrews gradually defined their God El/Yahweh over time and came to call him only Yahweh after awhile.
can U honestly say that the Kaa'ba is not a Pagan Icon[forget about the black stone.....:)].......what about friday prayers...
the point is many muslims will boast of their 'monotheism' at the expense of a religion like Hinduism. There is much to write about Islam and will contribute more Hubs
JMansy18 from Los Angeles, CA on July 05, 2012:
Very interesting perspective. There are, however, a few mistakes and misconceptions.
First, Allah is the Arabic word for 'God'.
Second, the crescent and star does not authentically represent Islam. It is a symbol that originated during the Ottoman Empire. If Islam were to have a symbol, it would be a following of the colored flags used in battle during the Prophet Muhammad's time (I.e. green and black). There is no significance behind the color other than the simple fact it was used as an identification symbol.
Third, facing the Kabbah serves as a focal and unifying point among the Muslim people.
Islam came to unite the previous monotheistic messages; Judiasim and Christianity. Which is why Prophet Muhammad is often referred to as "seal of the Prophets". When Islam came, one of the first mission was to abolish the pagan idols that overtook the Kabbah. Prophet Abraham and his son Ishmael with the intention of constructing the first house of God. True, over the years after the fact, people placed idols inside for the use of pagan worship.
I do believe there are similarities amongst all religions. However it is imperative to understand the grave difference Islam; Judaism and Christianity pose in contradiction to idol worship. For example, Muslims do not pray to Muhammad, they pray to God.
Personally, I am Muslim however I do practice with an "earthy" angle. I burn incense; rely on stones for certain manifestations and I incorporate a lot of Taoist practices.

then please explain how islam got to use the star and the moon...when they are clearly pagan symbols...please do tell me your own interpretation of those symbols. how did allah get his name..if not through the name of Pagan gods
Theodore Pugh from Wilkes Barre Pa on July 02, 2012:
Just the title of this hub alone is wrong. Everything you wrote has no solid proof. Insha'ALLAAH i'll start with the first set of statements:
" The crescent moon and star fluttering atop mosques, betraying its pagan roots"
Now there is no proof to this statement that connects the moon shapes that are on the tops of minarets of the masjids. Islam it clear that ALLAAH created the Moon and it is not an object of worship at all in Islam. Islam Is a belief that negates Paganism, we call it "Shirk" which basically means polytheism. So you trying to attribute Islam to paganism does not fit its like putting two magnets together, they both repel each other.
Before Islam the other Prophets of monotheism spoke against paganism as mans ignorance to why he exist and who his creator truly is. Islam clearly speaks against associating partners with ALLAAH and ALLAAH states this in His words know as the Qur'an revealed to Muhamma His final Messenger may the peace and blessings be upon him. Allaah states:
"Verily Allaah forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners (in worship) with Him, but He forgives whom He wills, sins other than that, and whoever sets up partners in worship with Allaah, has indeed strayed far away."
Now if ALLAAH did what you said and decided to all of sudden become just One God from being worshipped along with partners. This would mean that ALLAAH or God contradicted Himself , which this of course is not the case. ALLAAH is above such blaspheme. He is perfect He makes not mistakes.
So all of this that you wrote does not fit at all. I'm not finish. Insha'ALLAAH I'll take a break for now and continue this in another comment or Hub.
