A startling new survey indicates that not everyone who says they are a Christian believes that Jesus is the only way to salvation. The Arizona Christian University- Cultural Research Center's American Worldview Inventory, conducted research to "explore perceptions of sin and salvation". According to George Barna, the director, of the study, close to two-thirds of Americans believe that having some kind of faith, any kind of faith is more important than having one, specific, particular belief system. In laymen terms, more Americans believe that you can reach God through all faiths as opposed to Jesus saying He is the only way to the Father.
The study revealed that sixty-eight percent of respondents who identify as Christian agree with this line of thinking. This includes 56% of self-proclaimed evangelicals and 62% who identify as being Pentecostals. Sixty-seven percent of mainstream Protestants along with 77% of Catholics also embraced this ideology.A little more than half of the Christian respondents said they believe "being or doing good," can gain a person's salvation. There were 70% of Catholics, 46% of Pentecostals, 44% of mainstream Protestants, and 41% of evangelicals, who agreed with this assertion. 58% of Americans surveyed believe that there is no absolute moral truth. This contradicts everything Jesus taught and should be a cause for concern. How can so many people say they are Christians without belief in the basic tenants of the faith?
Faith in Christ alone
There was a time when, if someone said they were a Christian, you knew they believed that Jesus is the only way to salvation, Every day there are people in third world nations that die because they will not renounce faith in Christ but in America with churches on every corner, people are calling themselves Christians without accepting His words that His shed blood gains us access to eternal life. Oprah Winfrey identifies as Christian and has a show titled Greenleaf on her network that is about a megachurch family. Oprah grew up in the church but said on live television that Jesus can't possibly be the only way to God. Actress Jane Fonda has said that she was told she was not really Christian because she could not say that Christ died for our sins. She believes in the teachings of Jesus but not that His blood has atoned for our sins. The Bible clearly tells us in John 14:6 that Jesus says He is the way the truth and the life and no man comes to the Father except through Him. This is the basis of Christianity so it is disturbing that many so called Christians don't believe it.
The Barna research also revealed that seventy-seven percent of respondents indicated that right and wrong can be determined by factors other than the Bible. Fifty-nine percent of those identifying as Christians said that the Bible is not "God's authoritative and true Word".Jesus said in Matthew 17:19 that no one is good but the Father, yet 69% of those surveyed said that people are "basically good".
George Barna sent a statement to The Christian Post where he said that many Americans believe that the purpose of life is to feel good about one's self. He added that most people consider all faiths being of equal value and that there are many choices on how eternal life is earned. Romans 10:9-10 tells us the following:
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
This is the basis of the Christian faith and either it is true or not. If it is not true then can go to heaven believing anything but if it is true and I believe it is, then a lot of Christians are in trouble. This situation is so troubling that an increasing number of people have told me they no longer identify as Christian but as spiritual believers, worshipping Him in spirit and in truth. Who could ever have imagined a day when a majority who say they are Christians and follow the teachings of Jesus would indicate they do not believe He is the one and only way to eternal life? If you have doubts today ask Jesus to reveal His truth to you, because your eternal soul is on the line. He said that He alone is the way and I believe Him and so should you.

I think that some people have had too many questionable doctrines shoved down their throats and are, in their own way, challenging them. There are things we have all been taught, for generations, which do not hold up to scripture and some don't even hold up to good sense. So, many have come to the point of, "Who are you to tell anyone x, y or z, when all you have is your questionable proof?"
This is just my own observation of many I have seen over the years, as well as, my own considerations of doctrines vs. what the text really shows us. So, while I may not agree with everything these folks are hanging on to, I sort of understand their motivations (if that makes any sense).

This should trouble a serious minded christian and it reveals what the bible says about the end time, that the love of many shall wax cold and if the time were not shortened, many supposed believers would also miss the mark.
Mat_24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Good work ma.
