Stress Relief in Life
In this hectic fast paced world you will often find it hard to keep your life in order. It is far easier to let the stress take over and control your life then it is to put in some effort to ease the stress. There are however four simple things you can do which will help you in your pursuit of finding true peace in this life.
1. Keep your bills paid
This does not refer to your household bills but keeping them up to date is also important.
Romans 13:7 says this,"Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor"
The bills that this verse Roman's refer to are those you incur with other people. In life you ask people to help you with all kinds of things, moving, helping tend to household repairs and the list goes on and on. While our friends don't expect us to return favors what kind of friends are we if we don't?
To many times people are takers. They are glad to get but are often the first ones to make up excuses when it time to give. This creates stress in any relationship.Proverbs 3:27 says this, "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
when it is in your power to act."
So keep your bills paid. Let others see you care as much for them as they do for you by returning favors and going one step beyond when possible.
2. Keep your beds made
You wouldn't want guests to see your bed unmade and a mess. In the same way you don't want people to see your life a mess. The best way to live your life is by keeping everything simple.
The more things you try to shove into your life the more of a mess you're going to make. More and more people get so stressed out because their beds are so full of stuff they can never pull the covers up. They can never relax.
Ecclesiastes 4:6 says this about having too much, "Better one handful with tranquility than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind.” The person who wrote this was King Solomon. His bed was so full it distracted him from what life is truly about.
The advice Solomon gives can be summed up in a few words, keep your bed made. Enjoy life by keeping it simple.
3. Keep your garden weeded
Springtime is both a blessing and a curse. Why? Springtime brings warmth and flowers but it also brings weeds. Each week it seems your are pulling weeds from your gardens. Your life is like your gardens. You can fill them up with so much stuff which is bad for your minds and bodies the good stuff gets choked out. You are left feeling down and disheartened.
The Bible says in Mark 4:18 - 19, “And others are the ones sown among thorns. They are those who hear the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.”
What you ought to be doing is weeding your gardens. Getting rid of anything which does not benefits us mentally or physically. This can easily be done as Paul says in Colossians 3:2 by setting, "your minds on things above, not on earthly things.."
4. Be available when needed
What does being available have to do with keeping your life in order? Everything. Everyone needs people around them as sounding boards when they need advice. As shoulders to lean on in times of sorrow. As friends with which to share good times and bad times. They are the ones who are there to help keep your lives in order.
In the same way you need to be there for others when they need you. You also need to be the shoulder they lean on in times of trouble. There is this saying about life, "what goes around come around." Another way of saying it is “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, " or as Matthew 7:12, states it, "Therefore whatever you desire for men to do to you, you. shall also do to them."
In other words to keep your life in order make sure you are available to others when needed so they will be there for you when you need them.
Some Final Thoughts
So there you have it the four ways the Bible offers you to help you live a more stress free life:
- Keep your bills paid
- Keep your bed made
- Keep your garden weeded
- Help others when needed
Of course like everything else in life it may take some time to get them all done but in the end it will be well worth your time and effort.
