A Supernatural Warning From Beyond the Grave That Saved My Life

A Message from Beyond the Grave

Definition of Paranormal

According to Wikipedia, the definition of paranormal events are phenomena described in popular culture, folklore, and other non-scientific bodies of knowledge, whose existence within these contexts is described to lie beyond normal experience or scientific explanation.

Background Information/I Couldn't Ignore the Signs

To tell you about my story, I must go back in time a bit. The year was 1994...

I received a call one day from a good friend who invited me to dinner at her new place. I was excited to see her and check out this place I'd been hearing about. As soon as I walked into her apartment, I felt like I was transported back in time. This place had beautiful archways that separated each room from one another. The living room and bedroom had old oak wood floors and the kitchen cabinets were built with sturdy thick wood with iron handle latches. The place oozed with history and charm. I felt like I was meant to live there and told my buddy, if she ever moved, please let me know right away.

About a year later, in 1995, I moved into the quaint apartment that felt like home. It was located in a western suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The building had a rich history that dated back many years. This particular complex was built back in the 1800's and was used to house the men that built the railroad. It was a split level with four apartments on each floor.

Because there were only eight apartments in the entire building, everybody knew each other. It was a close knit community that somewhat reminded me of my days in the dorms. I made some really close friendships while living there.

The man that lived below me was a very unique character. People often referred to him as "the grown up sixties hippie." He was in his forties and had long, grayish blonde hair. He usually wore tie-dye t-shirts and straight legged blue jeans.

He and I had a complicated relationship and didn't get along well from the moment we met. I was pretty aware why I had such a hard time with him. He reminded me of the brother I had a love/hate relationship with;. both my brother and the man who lived below me, (we'll call him Jerry) struggled with drug and alcohol abuse. They also shared similar character traits: Charming, master manipulators, smooth talkers, and anger problems that could easily and quickly escalate. There were rare occasions where we were able to put our personality conflicts aside and have some fun.

Jerry's Van had an Odd Quirk: It Wouldn't go in Reverse

Everyone in the apartment building (and surrounding neighborhood) knew about Jerry's interesting sixties van. It was full of personality and painted with bright colors and peace signs. It also had an odd quirk that many found strange. His van could not go in reverse. Jerry had to park the van sideways in the parking lot, so he could drive it straight out.

Fast forward to 2003. Sadly, Jerry was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lung cancer. He was in the latter stages of the disease, so going through chemotherapy and radiation wasn't a viable option. He chose to live his life to the fullest with the little time he had left.

Because Jerry was originally from Iowa, many of his closest friends weren't able to attend his funeral. Me and a friend that also resided in the apartment, decided to hold a celebration for him. We held the memorial at a local bar and restaurant that was his regular hang- out. We felt it was important for his friends to have a chance to say goodbye and get closure. We put together picture collages and displayed some of his favorite personal items, like his signature cowboy hat. It was a wonderful affair and celebration of his life.

A Strange Thing Happened after Jerry's Death

A week after Jerry's memorial, something very strange started happening. My van would no longer go in reverse. I had to start parking my van just like Jerry- sideways, so I could get out. My friends and family thought this might be Jerry's way of saying thanks for the memorial but I felt there was more to it. I distinctly remember a friend saying to me, "why do you think there's more to it, it's not like you have lung cancer or something." I told her I wasn't thinking that, I just had an uneasy feeling that Jerry was trying to tell me something.

Feelings of dread lessened as the days and weeks wore on. I was working full-time at a marketing firm, often putting in over-time to pay off credit card debt. On my time off, I kept busy with a rigorous exercise routine and spending time with friends and family.

February of 2004, one year after Jerry passed away from lung cancer, I too was diagnosed with the disease. I was never a smoker which made it even more shocking. I thank Jerry often for his creative way of telling me something wasn't right. I believe he gave me a sign that he knew I'd understand. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would turn out to be lung cancer. I believe he wanted me to know I was sick so the lung cancer could be caught in time. Jerry was diagnosed at stage four which made it too late. Because of Jerry's warning, I got in for an x-ray at stage three. I am eight years cancer-free this coming St. Patrick's Day.

Rest in peace my friend and thank you for the sign

Have you Experienced a Paranormal Experience

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on April 25, 2020:

Hi DreamerMeg, I know, isn't it marvelous. I will forever remember that we connected after his death in a very cool way. Bless you for stopping by and commenting on my story.

DreamerMeg from Northern Ireland on April 24, 2020:

That was a great way of thanking you for the memorial and as you say, a creative way of telling you something that you would know was from him!

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on June 29, 2019:

Thanks for stopping by Peggy. What a cool thing Jerry came to warn me. I am beyond blessed.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on June 28, 2019:

That is an amazing story! So glad that you received your diagnosis when it could still be treated. In reading the comments below, the fact that your car once again operated like normal certainly does make it appear that you were getting a warning from beyond the grave.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on April 16, 2019:

Thanks so much for your thoughtful & heartfelt comments. I thank God everyday that I survived lung cancer. I just celebrated 15 years cancer-free on St. Patricks day. I do a lot of educating on lung cancer, including the myth that it's just a smoker disease. I never smoked & most of the people in my support group were non-smokers. Blessings to you.

Elijah A Alexander Jr from Washington DC on April 16, 2019:

Then I would say with certainty, Linda, you were contacted from "beyond the grave." I would also advise you to look back over your life for other similar things but especially let it open you up to seeking the meaning behind everything that does not fit known normal pattern, maybe you are being called to obtain the higher understanding of life.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on April 15, 2019:

Hi Elijah-the reverse problem with my van started before I knew I was sick. Shortly after this strange coincidence, I was diagnosed with the same cancer Jerry died from. The car never went in reverse again. I truly believe Jerry saved my life with this sign that got me to take heed & get to the doctor.

Elijah A Alexander Jr from Washington DC on April 15, 2019:

A overeating read, Linda, Thank you for sharing it.

What I would like to know is did your car begin to go into reverse after you discovered or after getting treatment for your cancer. To know it did I would say you were without a doubt contacted from "beyond the grave."

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on February 23, 2012:

Thanks Rosemay-I am eight years cancer-free this coming St. Patrick's Day and I have Jerry to thank for that. I am forever grateful for his message to me.

Rosemary Sadler from Hawkes Bay - NewZealand on February 23, 2012:

A fascinating story. Even though you didn't always see eyey to eye you did the right thing by him by holding the celebration. He musthave appreciated that. For him to send you a warning through your van, one you couldn't mistake, was amazing.

I hope that you are now in good health and have beaten the cancer.

Take care

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on January 30, 2012:

Thanks Stessily-It's an experience that's still hard for me to believe, really happened. It's pretty cool that we didn't always see eye to eye but when it really mattered, we both had each other's back. Thanks for the well wishes. St. Patrick's Day will be my eight year anniversary. Woo Hoo :-)

stessily on January 30, 2012:

MT, It's amazing who sends messages! I love that you were concerned about a celebration of his life and that you put together a celebration that he surely would have --- and indeed must have --- appreciated. Your van refusing to reverse a week later is touching.

May your health always be glorious.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on August 25, 2011:

Hi tipoague and thanks for stopping here. I am seven years cancer-free and lovin life. I am on many supplements to keep the cancer in remission and also smart about the products I use. I think it's great that this man goes green with the products he makes. If people knew how bad many of our daily products are, they would not use them. I have done a lot of research on this and thank you for pointing this issue out.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on August 25, 2011:

Thanks so much Lucky Cats for asking how I'm doing. I am GREAT! The scare I had a couple months ago turned out to be just congestion on the cats scan. I continue to be cancer-free and I am at seven years now. I am so grateful. I am guessing that was what you were referring to. Thanks for reading my story too. Pretty nuts, huh?

Tammy on August 25, 2011:

I read your story and thought about a man I met yesterday. He was living green and enjoyed making homemade things like soaps, laundry detergent, and things to help with aliments. As I read your story, I thought I would share this with you incase you were looking for natural things to help you cope with your illness. I will place you in my prayers. Thanks for sharing your story of Jerry and his message. I enjoyed reading it.

Kathy from Independence, Kansas on August 24, 2011:

Just finished reading this amazing story...I believe in such things...I am sure that we communicate with oneanother in ways other than the obvious and, I agree with you that Jerry was 'warning' or 'preparing' you for what lay ahead. You are a very very good writer as well as excellent communicator...btw, Minnetonka Twin, how ARE you? ARe you ok, now...please let us know (I haven't read comments; so I don't know what's been said back and forth..) I will, now. Thank you for an enlightning hub. Kathy

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on July 30, 2011:

Spirit Whisperer-I am really honored by your kind words about my hub. I too believe that physical problems and diseases comes from what we need to work out in this life. I was grateful Jerry came to prepare me for what was to lay ahead for me. We are all connected and all family when it comes down to it.

Xavier Nathan from Isle of Man on July 29, 2011:

I am so glad I read this hub. Your story touched me and is a reminder to us all to look for the good in each other. That was a lovely thing for you to do for someone you didn't get on with and it shows how our differences don't matter in the end.

I personally am of the belief that our bodies reflect what goes on below the surface of our conscious awareness. The dis-ease that manifests physically is like a metaphor for what we are working out deep within ourselves and have nothing to do with smoking or drinking or whatever. It doesn't necessarily have to be seen in a negative light but rather as our way moving forward. The world is too caught up with the physical aspect of who we are but we are much more than that.

Thank you for a truly great hub. I will be recommending this to my friends to read. Voted up.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on July 07, 2011:

Thanks so much Seeker. I do think we must've liked eachother in some way if there was so much passion/even though it was fighting and arguing a lot. I couldn't believe it when I found out I had lung cancer too. It still blows my mind :-0

Helen Murphy Howell from Fife, Scotland on July 06, 2011:

Hi MT,

What a beautiful story and I think 'Jerry' obviously cared enough about you to give you a message. This was a really fascinating hub and very spooky. Loved it!!

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on July 05, 2011:

That's what I hope for Springboard, otherwise that would be depressing. I guess we wont know until it's our time. Thanks for stopping in :-)

Springboard from Wisconsin on July 03, 2011:

The "other side" is a mysterious thing, and as much as I'm not a religious guy at all, I always have this hope that there is SOMETHING after this. Sometimes these weird little events in our lives, and to an extent I think we've all experienced at least one, give us just a hint that maybe, just MAYBE the end is another beginning.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on June 21, 2011:

Great! Let me know when you catch an episode. You'll be hooked my friend :-)

Richard Ricky Hale from West Virginia on June 19, 2011:

No I haven't heard of it yet. I watch ghost adventures and the one that is on sci-fi. I really don't like the new show Zach has out. I like them better with the Nick and Aaron. I live in West Virginia so I don't know. I will keep an eye out for it though.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on June 19, 2011:

lyricwriter-You bet I watch ghost adventures and many other shows about ghosts and spirits. Do you ever watch the biography channel. It's channel 115 in my area. The shows they do is "celebrity ghost stories and ghost stories that happen to everyday people. Ghost stories on the bio channel are on weekend nights here, starting at about 9PM.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on June 19, 2011:

GarnetBird-What a sad thing to hear of your smokers lungs and you never even smoked. Tell that to the people that don't believe that breathing in second hand smoke is bad for people. I am so glad that they finally passed the no-smoking law in public places here in Minnesota. Regarding your worry over getting lung cancer. I am guessing that your doctors are following your lung issues with the smokers lung. One of the biggest reasons many die from lung cancer is because they don't know they have it as there is usually no symptoms until it's too late. The fact that your doctor probably follows your chronic lung issues actually gives you a big leg up on this. Most people don't get x-rays or catscans unless the doctor sees a need to. I was blessed to have anxiety issues and then I worked myself up into thinking it was a heart attack which got me to ER and an x-ray. Just keep praying that your lungs are healthy and strong and lay your hands or a hand on your lung for healing. You will be fine :-) God Bless you and I will pray that your lungs will stay forever clean of any other problems.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on June 19, 2011:

Daffy Duck-I had to really think about your question because it's been awhile. I did take it to the mechanic who is actually the guy that sold me the van. The van Never went in reverse again, I remember that much, but I don't remember what the mechanic told me. I do know that the details didn't matter to me as I Knew Jerry was trying to tell me something. I knew it like I knew I I was breathing. I certainly didn't think it was lung cancer though, man that really stunk. So glad you enjoyed reading my story :-)

Richard Ricky Hale from West Virginia on June 19, 2011:

So sorry my friend. I do believe in the other side cause of personal experience. There is something. Ever watch Ghost Adventures? Good proof. Take care.

Gloria Siess from Wrightwood, California on June 17, 2011:

I live in dread of lung cancer--thank you for writing this. I, too have had premonitions about things like this. My step father smoked so much it gave me "smokers lungs" while I was in my 20's. I don't smoke but have constant ongoing battles for air (asthma, etc)., and Fibrosis in the lungs. My dear Uncle who smoked died from this disease. Unusual Hub--very interesting!

Daffy Duck from Cornelius, Oregon on June 16, 2011:

Oh my god! That's a hell of a story. Now about your van.....Did you ever take it to a mechanic? Just really cuurious.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on June 02, 2011:

Thanks Tina, I'm glad you liked my freaky story. Pretty crazy huh? So sorry about mom. Lung cancer stinks.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on June 02, 2011:

Aww, thanks sofs, that is soo sweet:)

Granny's House from Older and Hopefully Wiser Time on June 02, 2011:

Minn, Well done. You had me till the end. I am so sorry to hear. I hope all is well. My mom had lung cancer too.

How smart of Sunnie to think of the walls

Sophie on June 01, 2011:

I am glad that you are doing well and I hope the best is in store for you.. remember your friend is watching out for you.. great story there. (((((hugs)))))

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on June 01, 2011:

Kitty-What a darling comment:) Ya, he had a big heart deep down and was watchin over me and thanking me for the memorial. Isn't life incredible though? Thanks so much for reading my story, it means a lot to me.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on June 01, 2011:

Thanks a lot Mulberry, I appreciate that:)

Kitty Fields from Summerland on June 01, 2011:

Hello, Minne Twin! I have to say that I absolutely loved this hub. Though it made me worry about you! Hopefully your catscan will show no sign of cancer! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Anyway, I voted this hub up and beautiful...isn't it funny how things happen sometimes? I definitely believe that Jerry was sending you a sign from beyond the grave. Seems like he was a pretty decent fella after all.

Christine Mulberry on May 31, 2011:

It's good that you were open/receptive to the message Jerry was sending you. I do believe that such communication is possible. Glad to hear you are now healthy and I hope you stay that way!

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 31, 2011:

Hi Druid Dude-Thanks for reading my strange tale.

Druid Dude from West Coast on May 31, 2011:

Heavy. Strange things are about. Signs, omens. Strange and inexplicable, largely ignored. We are just beginning to learn, and no one seems to be a master of their own fate.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 30, 2011:

Happyboomernurse-I know, I feel so cared about and supported here at Hubpages. I love all the great comments and recommendations. I don't remember how I handled some of the stresses in life without my hubber friends. Yikes, don't even like to think of it. Thank you too for your warm and wonderful comments you leave me. I love it!! I need it!! I am blessed:)

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 30, 2011:

Thanks Kim for your warm words and well wishes. I will keep all posted on the June 16 scan. UUGGHH, It's so hard to wait. My next door neighbor (who was diagnosed the same year) had an ify scan too (brain cancer)and he just found out at the follow-up that it's back. They did catch it while it was small but still...My mind spins with the what if's.

Gail Sobotkin from South Carolina on May 29, 2011:

An amazing, well written story, and the comments were all so supportive. I could feel a wave of love and good wishes for you as I read all of them. Also, there were several comments that really stood out because they had an intuitive feel- Sunnie Day's concern about the walls, and Lita Malicdem's recommendation regarding the Graviola, Guannabanna tree. I was glad to hear that you had already had the walls tested and warned those still living there about the mold results, and that you are already on the herb from the tree.

Kim Harris on May 29, 2011:

What a pleasant true tale about personality clashes, conflicts and relationships....with a sad twist of reality regarding your cancer. It does put things into perspective. Thanks Minnetonka.... and I pray that your test results confirm a clean bill of health for you. GBY.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 29, 2011:

Thank so much Marlin, I appreciate that you liked my story. Thanks too for the well wishes for me:)

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 29, 2011:

Hi Colin-You just made my day by stopping by and reading my newest hub. It's pretty freaky isn't it? I tell you, I've had some pretty interesting experiences in my life. Sis and I leave the resort today. I'm kinda sad but I miss my dogs so much!! Can't wait to get my puppy kisses. Still have one more memorial weekend vacation day left, so I'm still officially on vacation. Hope you and the cats are having a great weekend. Give those sweet cats a little pet from me.

Marlin 55 from USA on May 29, 2011:

I found this story to be very interesting. I hope you are in the best of health.

epigramman on May 29, 2011:

Hello my beautiful Linda - so nice to hear from you - how are you feeling - I have been thinking about you naturally - good people are hard to find and good people are even harder to forget - please stay well and keep thinking good thoughts and so nice to see you writing - particualarly a story like this - it's quite a world we live in isn't it? And a better world because of wonderful people like you and your darling sister ....

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 29, 2011:

Hi LeeLee-I havn't felt him around since 03 when he was using my van to talk to me. I always figured he was around though as I went through the chemo and radiation. It must've been my twin sister Healing Touch that posted your daughter's vegetarian recipe, so I can't take credit for that. LOL

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 29, 2011:

Thanks Trish:)

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 29, 2011:

Hi Martie-I think a lot of us get these signs. Some of us see them and some don't. I couldn't help but see this obvious one. I feel great these days and hope my follow-up scan in June is all good. It's always nerve wracking to get ify scans but I've had them before and when I go back the spots are gone. Thanks for your kinds words:)

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 29, 2011:

Hi Theseus-I know, it's really quite beautiful that he payed it forward from the other side. Thanks for stopping:)

Mrs. J. B. from Southern California on May 28, 2011:

This is an amazing story. Wow is all that comes to mind. Some people choose not to move on and still hang out with there earthly friends. Have you felt his presence since then?

LeeLee aka Mrs. J. B.

Also THANK YOU for posting my daughter Sydney's Vegetarian Topic. Hey if you ever get a chance her photography is now on many of my hubs.

Tricia Mason from The English Midlands on May 28, 2011:

Very pleased to hear that your health is good now :)

Martie Coetser from South Africa on May 28, 2011:

Hi Twin! I believe in these kinds of warnings and signs. It prepares us for what we do not expect and makes the specific reality a little more bearable. I hope you are fine.

theseus from philippines on May 28, 2011:

What a way to warn you of something. In his own way, he passed on the kindness you gave to him. I hope that you are okay now.Take care always. God bless.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

Hey Wesman-You obviously have great taste in music. I love the grateful dead and knew that Jerry did too. I thought this song would be perfect for this hub. The word "Ripple" to me signifies how we all affect eachother and are all connected.

Sounds like your eyes are open to seeing mystical experiences and signs too. I totally believe that when we leave here, we are still connected to loved ones. I hope your hubbing some of your mystical experiences.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

Sunnie-This whole experience has really educated me that we all have to be vigilent about where we live and work. We need to make sure that the places we spend a lot of time at are safe for us. After I did the testing at my apartment, many residents told me how they were struggling with respiratory infections and colds since moving in. I got pneumonia twice while living there and I'd never had it before. You wonder how many people are living or working in mold infested places and don't even know it. Hopefully this hub can educate people. I moved in with my sister when I was diagnosed and we had her home tested for radon and mold right away. Thankfully, all was well.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

mckbird-You are so right! What a blessing that I'm here writing my story. I am so grateful:) Have a wonderful weekend.

Wesman Todd Shaw from Kaufman, Texas on May 27, 2011:

You were already going to get an "awesome, useful, and up" for the story - but then when I saw my Grateful Dead on here you earned a "beautiful" too!

I get all sorts of signs and all manner of strange psychic phenomena. . . .frequently. I've an over abundance of so called "rational" atheist folk on my regular net socializing Facebook friend list - the people I've been talking to for years and years. They just won't believe in anything spiritual. I guess they don't ever have the things happen that I do, or you do. Or maybe they think that they can just explain everything away. . .

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

Thanks for your kind words Alicia. I feel great and couldn't be better. I am vacationing at a lake resort and having a great time. Hope your having a nice weekend too:)

Sunnie Day on May 27, 2011:

WOW!!! I do believe this was a big warning for you and others..I worked at an old school one time and I was forever getting ventilation and the black mold behind the paper would get glued every year..the thing was reported, tested but nothing was ever done..I think was making many sick..Thanks Minne..I am happy you are healthy and doing well now.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

Hi b.Malin-I am so blessed to be seven years cancer-free. I hope I live a long, healthy life. I have to be here for my twin sister and continue helping her to raise her two kids. I agree that this story is strange but in such a beautiful way.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

Thanks for reading my story Trish. I feel great and am seven years cancer-free. Life is good:)

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

Hi Kashmir-It is pretty cool that two people who never got along well would end up helping eachother. Hope your having a great memorial weekend:)

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

Hi Sunnie-In my comment to you above I told you how wise you were to think of this. I had the place tested and two serious molds showed up which can cause pulmonary disease if your around it too long. I lived there about nine years, so I'm sure this was a big part of what caused my lung cancer as well as other environmental toxins. I believe Jerry was also warning me so I would let others know in the building that it wasn't safe. I talked to the landlord about the results but he never did anything about it. I knew that it was my responsibility to tell everyone in the building about the mold and they could make decisions on leaving or not. Suprisingly, many residents stayed but at least I warned them.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

Thanks for coming by Wayne. I know, I'm still amazed by the sign Jerry gave me. I find myself saying, "wow, did this really happen." It happened and I am grateful that he was trying to prep me for what lay ahead.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

Your right Tammy-Deep down I think we liked eachother despite the differences. I was more than willing to throw a memorial for him after he passed away. I like to think he appreciated it and was there witnessing it. I'm still in awe that he gave me a warning that I too had lung cancer.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

You are so sweet Steph and I'm glad you liked my story. It took me seven years to write this story. I guess it was all a little overwhelming to me at the time. Now, it gives me peace and hope knowing we are watched and protected, even people that we didn't necessarily get along with. Hope your having a great holiday weekend.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

Hi Barb-I am feeling great and thanks for asking. I'm seven years cancer-free and hope to live a long, healthy life. Thanks for taking out the time to read my story, I really appreciate it:)

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

Hi Pooh-Yes, life has so many unexpected turns and twists and some things we just wont fully understand until it's our time to leave here. I hope your having a nice memorial weekend:)

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

Hi Hyphenbird and thanks for checking out my story. We will get many answers to life's mysteries when we leave here. Looking back at my own story here, I am even shocked at how it unfolded. Thanks Jerry for letting me know I had lung cancer in my body too. So freaky :-0

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

Hi toknowinfo and thanks for such a nice comment. I love hubpages because we can all grow so much by reading eachother's stories and experiences. I knew right away when my van wouldn't go in reverse that there was something to it. I really never imagined me having lung cancer though, especially because I never smoked. I think the fact that Jerry gave me a heads up was pretty neat since we didn't get along well on earth but that just shows how we are all connected and how there is no anger or grudges in heaven, only love. God Bless you friend and hope your having a great memorial weekend:)

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on May 27, 2011:

Hi Lita, it's great to see you my friend. It has been a long time. Thanks for your great recommendation about graviola. My naturalpath doctor has me on the graviola supplement along with several others. It's probably better taking it the way you do by boiling the leaves versus a supplement pill form. Hope your having a lovely weekend:)

Hi Sunnie-I always love when you come by and I get to see your beautiful smiling face. You are very wise to wonder what was in the walls. After being diagnosed, I had the place tested. Results showed that there were two molds infesting the place which is known to cause pulmonary disease. I lived there about nine years, so I'm sure this was a big contributor to my disease. I told everyone that lived there about the mold results. Jerry was a heavy smoker too which is a huge reason he ended up with the aggressive form. Hope your having a great memorial weekend. I'm on my annual vacation at a lakeside resort and having a blast.

Hi Marellen and great to see you. I feel very healthy, let's hope the scan shows that. God does work in mysterious ways. I think the beautiful thing about this story is how he and I were so differen't and had conflicts but yet we both set those things aside when it came down to it. There is no grudges in heaven, only love and he was my guardian angel telling me to prepare for something in my future.

Hi Will-Thanks for reading my story. I'm doing well, thanks for asking. I'm actually at a lake resort in Beautiful Hayward, WI for memorial weekend. My follow-up catscan is June 16 so this trip is all about relaxing and trying to keep any worries to a minimum. Looking at beautiful Lac Courte Oreilles out my window and from the deck is the best medicine for me. Great to hear from you:)

Supernatural events aside, seven years ago you had a diagnosis, and are wrting about it now. That’s my kind of sign. Chilling story - with a victories ending!

Sunnie Day on May 26, 2011:

Minnie this story keeps making me wonder and coming to my mind today!..I mentioned "what was behind the wall"..because of older buildings remodeling but covering up dangerous mold..just a thought..since you both lived in the same apartment complex..just a thought..

I must say that is a very convincing example of communications from the other the John Edwards tradition more or less I guess you could say. Thanks for sharing it! WB

There was obviously some mutual respect between the two of you. You were the one to give him a "localized" memorial and he was the one to give you the sign that only you would recognize as being from him.

God Bless

Very interesting and well developed story. There are many thing we can't explain but seem to have a connection in our lives, aren't there?

Brenda Barnes from America-Broken But Still Beautiful on May 26, 2011:

Jerry reminds me of an old friend of mine. Some things cannot be explained. Were you getting a heads up from the other side? Maybe. In any regard the story is fascinating!!

toknowinfo on May 26, 2011:

I have goosebumps. But between you an your sister's stories, I am not surprised you were open to the messages that were sent to you. I am glad you heeded them, and I hope you continue on a healthy path.

My daughter just emailed me an article about this tree Graviola, Guannabanna or in our dialect Guyabano- as number 1 cancer cell killer. I don't know if you had heard about this herbal cure- just boil the leaves, or the unripe fruit called soursop and drink the concoction. I do for my diabetes. I have a tree in my backyard. It's supposed to lower blood glocuse, too. Just a tip.

Jerry must have been warning you, we don't know, but I hope you're doing well. It's been long time I didn't visit and here I am bringing you good news about graviola. Why not make a research about it? Take care, my friend.
