Worth $2 a Minute?

California Psychics, advertised all over the internet, treats "psychic reading" as a business. It took the phone clerk seven long minutes to get all the name, email, and credit-card stuff set up -- they keep this info on file. When it was time to talk money, the first "special" offered was $49 for a 24-minute reading. Shocked, I said that was too expensive, and took the next offer of 17 minutes for $35 -- the same two dollars a minute. Then I realized that's how they worked; it made the $35 sound cheap!

I wanted to ask a psychic about the end of a love relationship: Would he come back? The helpful clerk suggested talking to "Snow," a specialist in love relationships, who is "clairvoyant, clairsentient and clairaudient," but somehow in getting transferred I didn't punch the right button for Snow and got Ciarra. I told Ciarra I wanted to talk to Snow. Ciarra said she could transfer my call, but "maybe it was intervention that brought you to me." Well, that was a good answer, and I told Ciarra my birthdate, the man's birthdate, and my question, and the 17 minutes began.

The big surprise was that I got not a "psychic" reading but a Tarot-card reading. Tarot is not psychic. True psychics are extremely rare and are born with their special gift. Joseph in the Book of Genesis, who correctly read other people's dreams and foretold the future (Genesis 40-41) is a good example of a psychic. By comparison, anyone willing to spend a few years studying and practicing can learn to read Tarot cards. It is a skill. Talent is helpful, but no psychic power or magic is required. California Psychics should be called "California Tarot-Card Readers." I asked what cards Ciarra was looking at, to check if she was genuinely reading Tarot cards, and she was, but probably not more than four of them, when the usual Tarot spread is 10 cards and reveals much more about everyone's future and motivations. Maybe that's what I would have got had I taken the $49 option.

About the relationship, Ciarra carefully said she wasn't picking on the guy but just truthfully saying that he, a Scorpio represented by The Magician card, was charming, complacent, commitment-shy, subtly controlling, and pulled away when he began to have feelings. I think this describes about 95 percent of single heterosexual men, and because that is so, Ciara sounded pretty correct. But then she said, "With him, what you see is what you get," which seemed contradictory.

What Ciarra said about me, myself, was all wrong. I was to "know I had power" and "stop beating myself up about" his departure when in fact I had shown the guy the door and felt relieved ever since. She said there were obstacles to the relationship. Of course there were. After about 10 minutes Ciarra began to repeat and recycle what she'd said. A buzzer let us know when there was one minute left, and at the end of 17 minutes we were cut off. The relationship had been analyzed somewhat, but the question of whether he will return was not answered. This isn't Ciarra's fault. If you want your answer you will probably have to keep asking it.

One warning: Don't be fooled when the recorded voice says "You have $75 in your account." This is misleading. I did not put $75 in any account with them. They just wanted me to think so. Stick with what you asked for and paid for. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this experience a 5. Ciarra gave it a good shot but played it very safe and kept her reading too general. She should trust herself more: Later I found out she is a seven-year veteran "psychic" (Tarot-card reader) with a large following. Clearly she works hard. Maybe your experience will be better; I've heard one person I know rave about a reading from California Psychics. But golly, it's expensive, and there was nothing psychic about it.

Watch out for BIG-TIME SCAMMERS/FRAUDS in Texas, namely Dallas......this so-called psychic Wanna-B's business is "Ann Newman & Associates" in Dallas on mockingbird lane. My mother-in-law was scammed for thousands of dollars as these dispicable vultures scared her into believing our family was jinxed and we needed to spend some big money to rid ourselves of dark family evil spirits that had been around for many generations. What a crock of bull this woman was. Please save your money and stay away from those psychic vultures. Good luck!

In my article "About Horoscopes and Psychics" I state that I have found no true clairvoyants or psychics on the Internet. True psychics and clairvoyants are very rare and do not need to advertise on the Internet or work for hotlines because they are mobbed by clients attracted by word of mouth. How did you find out about the reader you were impressed by? Probably not through ads.

Online clairvoyants such as "Norah" are "bots" or computerized programs that send everyone the exact same report saying a "transition" is about to happen. The report gives vague and general information that is not a horoscope, and urges further and more costly "readings" or services such as "rituals." Planetary transitions happen continually, to everyone. You are correct: Without a birth date, time and place a truly accurate birth horoscope with accurate transits cannot be cast. Without that information your best bet is a seasoned Tarot-card reader you can meet in person and who will answer your questions.

Hi Sylvia, I've read w/CalPsy. my exp. was diff. & I was pleased. I agree true psychic ability should be a god given gift at birth but also told we all have psyc.abil. if we learn to enhance it. Never want to read w/somebody using "tools". Four readings all say same thing ab. a love interest and it's all good and to "stay stong". You recommended astrologers but I think that is very general. I married a gemini who is soooo different than the gemini that I wanted to know ab. in my readings. without the time of birth I don't think astology is too general. Can you recommend a true clairvoyant reader. I once read with this woman, long ago.. she was amazing. truly gifted. I appreicate you took the time to research these "readers" and Norah tried to get me to buy her package as I am coming into a transition period if I want to do it right. I heard this also from a Cal.Psy reader. Norah reduced her price to $19 but I didn't go for it. If you can recommend a true psychic, I would really appreicate that. Thanks.
