Walking in The Light

A Way to Worship

Honouring God is a way of living a life which is sacred, exemplary and in adherence with virtues that will lift one higher to the abode of happiness within. God loves us and is most pleased when we act in harmony with His Will and consciousness. Living a life of goodness which is pleasing to God, and feeding His sheep , encourages growth and a nearness to the celestial abode.

Creation and Creator Are One

It is not only important to honour God but crucial. Viewed from the standpoint that God is Spirit (Consciousness), then there is nothing else. Scriptures teaches us that we are made in the image of God (Spirit), that He dwells in us, and that we are not our own.

It follows that in the same way that we feed the 'material, the consumer world', so too, should the inner life be fed. They go hand in hand. As children of Light, it behoves us to live in harmony with this Light, in order to be at peace with a sense of joyful abundance.

Living in the Light

God's Earth

'The Earth is the Lord's and its fullness thereof', says the Christian scriptures. So there is nothing here that we can call our own. Everything belongs to 'our Father', as the Christ puts it in Our Lord's Prayer. A great man whom I can't recollect right now, once said that we should do the things of this world, as if we were always going to inhabit it, and do the things of the other world, as if we were going there tomorrow. This will ensure that we lead virtuous lives and invoke within a state of readiness for whatever comes. Tomorrow is not ours.

Imitating God

What does it mean to honour God? St. Paul exhorts us to be imitators of Christ, that is to say, practice His teachings. This we can do by service to others in the spirit of love and soulfulness.

Speaking in Discipleship, David Watson, in the last four lines of his poem, says:

"And from your eyes He beckons me, And from your heart His love is shed. Till I lose sight of you, and see The Christ instead". (Hodder and Stoughton)

We came here to glorify God, to do the Will of the Father in Heaven. We are the Temple or instruments of Spirit, and as such must do the work as would exalt the Spirit. 'Watch and Pray', says the Scriptures, and again, 'let your work so shine that it may glorify your Father in Heaven'.

A Good Shepherd

Glorifying God

Glorifying God, means allowing the body to be used as a temple to manifest His love in and through us, and in the service of mankind. It means to walk in His ways and to be an example to others so that they too, can walk in our footsteps. God wishes us to lead exemplary lives and to do our duty in a selfless, sacred and sanctimonious way.

This will enable us to find peace within, and to walk in the way of love and blessedness. God's plans are numerous and varied, and He has unfolded countless ways in which we can serve or utilise our gifts, bringing them to the fore so as to benefit creation.

Help a crying child, lift a dying spirit, serve the needy and impoverish and this will gladden and enlarge the heart. Human nature hardly grows without giving. For it is in selfless giving that we find abiding satisfaction, and our true Source is pleased. This was the message of Francis of Assisi and other great Souls before Him, a message which is valid to this very day and especially during this festive season.

Various God-men, seers, sages and saints have demonstrated this throughout the ages. Indeed that's why they came. To create a beacon, so that we could see a way to follow. Let us have many windows in an expansive Heart. 'Contraction is death, expansion is life, says the Swami Vivikananda.

Let us all strive to live expansive and compassionate lives. Be ever vigilante. Watch and pray with intense Faith. Serve ceaselessly, and the God we honour will certainly come to our aid. A Merry Christmas and a 2014 filled with happiness for us all.

Manatita, I read this old article of yours, thankfully, it is open to comment. The secret of happiness is to love God as he loves us

We are sinners yet, He loves us, so why do we forget to love Him? Indeed, He is merciful and the most beneficial who forgive us(the sinners). I love God!!

Joy and Peace. Be strong. Words are powerful and you may sometimes encourage negative response by what you write. Believe in yourself and be guided by love. Pray. This will help you. Much peace.

Thank you, Eunice.

Was it to do with a reference to my books or poems? I engage in many things here and sometimes forget. Glad you stopped by and much love to you. Remember me in your prayers and I will remember you too. God bless.

You've answered the question that many have asked . . . what's the purpose of life? We are here to glorify God and to do His will. Life as it is, is not easy and not knowing our purpose makes it unbearable. A purpose driven life is bearable, fulfilling and manageable. Thanks for this insight.

By the way, I managed to see your comments that you wrote 6 days ago only today. And that happens often. Either I still don't know how to navigate around Hubpages or it's an error with the site.

Best regards.
