The first rule of thumb regarding healing is that you must have faith. Without Faith it is impossible to please Him. Consider what happened in the Bible in Luke chapter 8:43: " And a woman was there who had been subject to, "Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me." Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."
There were many people touching Jesus on every side, but only this one woman received her healing because her faith was great. Great Faith is not simply reading scripture and saying you believe and it's not group confessions that are read today in many churches. Faith is not a magic spell or incantation, it is personal and with Holy Communion, you must know deep within your being that you are doing more than eating bread and drinking grape juice. Eating and drinking the body and blood of Christ,(symbolically) is a spiritual act and when you tap into His Holy Spirit for yourself, miracles can happen.
Communion is a tradition
It is common in most Baptist churches to hold communion services on the first Sunday in each month. Deacons and or Deaconess serve the trays of broken crackers and grape juice to the congregation as the pastor reads the story of the last supper from scripture. Matthew chapter 26 King James beginning at verse 7 says: Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover? 18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at thy house with my disciples.19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.21 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.22 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I? 23 And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.25 Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. "Who touched me?" Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, "Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you." But Jesus said it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. 27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. 30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
Communion heals the sick
When my youngest son was not quite three years old he had a high fever and did not eat or drink for a week. His doctor said there was a virus going around and unless he began to vomit, just let it run its course. On day 8 my son asked for communion so I gave him a cup of grape juice and a saltine cracker, He held both in the air and said what he had heard in church: "This is His body, let us eat, This is His blood let us drink". Immediately after he asked for something to eat and got up from his sickbed. Both my husband and I have had our bodies healed of various attacks by taking communion at home as well as participating in church. This is important to know now because of the pandemic.
The late Jan Crouch, who with her husband Paul (also deceased), began the TBN network gave testimony that she took communion on a daily basis and was healed of colon cancer. The bread,(or crackers) the grape juice,(or wine) in and of themselves are but food and drink. When taken as part of remembering His death and suffering, they can be a powerful combination for healing for all who believe.
Remember that a lot of people touched Jesus but only one woman pulled the virtuous healing power from Him. Many people take communion during church services but not everyone is healed of what ails them. There are three things you can do to make sure you are in right standing with Him. First be sure your faith in Christ, the crucifixion, resurrection and His imminent return is strong and unwavering. Second, make sure you repent of any sins, every thought word, and deed that may hinder His power flowing through you. Third, read aloud from the Bible any scripture related to the shedding of His blood and the torture of His body.
