21) God Sees Ahead Evil Machinations of the Enemies and Arises to Frustrate their Plans:

God is the only one who knows the intents of the hearts of men.

“Isa_46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:”

The evil intents in the heart of the King which has not been hidden from the Lord he decides to carry out by ordering the killing of the little children all because he wants to silence the star, God sees this and arose to frustrate his plans by providing a way out for the child through his parents.

“Mat 2:13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”

God will always arise to protect his own people from the hands of the enemies and the evil ones. We however should be receptive to the instructions of the Lord when he is directing us, we should listen and yield to what he is directing and leading us to do.

22) Obedience to Divine Instructions:

It is the adjective form of Obedience (which is obedient) that could be found written in the Old Testament of the bible. It is believed that Old Testament is written in Hebrew word.

The word obedient is written in Hebrew as “שָׁמַע” which when romanticized becomes shâma‛ (phonetic spelling shaw-mah') which means hear intelligently, hear carefully, consent, understand etc. (Exo. 24:7; Num. 27:20)

While in Greek obedience is written as “ὑπακοή” the romanticized form of which is hupakoē (phonetic spelling is hoop-ak-o-ay') which means compliance, submission. (Act. 6:7; Rom. 15:8)

In Matthew’s Gospel chapter 2:13 where Joseph has been instructed to take the young child and his mother away from the land we can deduce from subsequent account (Matthew chapter 2:14-15) that Joseph did not argue with the revelation he received through his dream, but rather complied with it, obeyed and moved his family away from Bethlehem to Egypt.

“Mat 2:14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:

Mat 2:15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.”

Complying

We need to regularly comply or be obedient to God’s instructions when he has spoken to us, given us definitive instructions on what to do to bring about progress for our lives and or family.

a) Recognition of How

It is important as children of God who is worshiping a God that we cannot see physically, a God who is a Spirit to know how God speaks with and to us. (Joh. 4:24; 2 Cor. 3:17) It is by this knowledge that the patriarchs of old excelled in all their undertakings and we cannot be different if we also want to excel as worshippers and servants of God on earth.

“Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

We can see that Joseph has recognized the method which God employs in speaking to him. Some of us do not know how God speaks to us. This is not good enough.

*Poll Recognition of How

Are you a child of God? Yes or No

As a child of God do you know how God speaks to you? Yes no not certain

To enjoy all the good benefits and promises that God has for us his children we need to know how he speaks to us. There are different methods he employs. He uses different methods for different people. Just as our biological father uses different methods to speak to us, his children, God also employs different methods to speak to us.

Though there is a general method, which more often than not is common method, yet he also uses other methods to speak to us his children because we are the apple of his eyes (Deu. 32:10 ; Zech. 2:8), we are priceless children of his’, he does not toy with our wellbeing he always want it well with us in all respects.

His thoughts, his mind, his actions toward us his children are all designed at giving us a befitting end, an end that we have dreamt of.

“Jer 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

“3Jn 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

The Greek word written as prosper here is “εὐοδόω” which when romanticized becomes euodoō (phonetic spelling is yoo-od-o'-o) which means succeed in business affairs, having a good journey.

Our success in our daily endeavors is directly linked to the much of God we know. We cannot know God without having communications with him for we can neither know our spouse nor anyone on earth without having in-depth communication with the person.

Therefore, as believers and his children, we need to know and understand deeply the means God uses in communing with us.

b) Mary Receives No Further Instructions from God: To the best of the biblical accounts about the birth of Christ Jesus we see that apart from the initial instructions received that he shall become pregnant through the Holy Ghost, Mary receives no further instructions on how to take care of the child and save the child from the sworn enemies intending to kill the child. This reveals these to us:

- Man’s Role Preserved/Acknowledged: This is pointing to us that God recognizes the man as the head of the family and since the man has accepted to bear the consequences and protect his wife from open shame and ridicule, the burden passed unto him in seeing that the child and the woman are protected from their sworn enemies,

- Principal Actors Always Receive Words from God: From the account, we can see that the principal concerned persons on an issue will always receive direct instructions from God. The instructions of God to principal persons are not through intermediaries. Intermediaries will only complement what God has spoken with the principal persons. If God is going to commit anything into anyone’s hands he will speak directly to the person through the means he uses to receive God’s words.

- Chipping These In

I will want to ante-up these two points in before I continue albeit briefly to this point.
