Eric’s Sunday Sermon; Yahoo We Are Having Fun Raising!

A life long pursuit and the results. Doctorates and experience sometimes do not mean much. Just listening is my expertise.

Why does NO VA seem more important?

Why does NO VA seem more important?

Suffering Is Optional and Fun Is Optional

Yahoo is a very interesting word. “You are a Yahoo” works. Yahoo! Works. The company brand Yahoo works. Yahoo, Yahoo!! Works. Should we capitalize Yahoo? I think yahoo works too. Yahoo is used from New York to L.A. and from Montreal to Houston. (And with the company – the whole globe of our residence)

Definition here is fun. Some deal about expressing something. Well not in my world. It is a cross between a great belly laugh and a hand in the air pumping jump for joy that comes up and requires a good scream. Normally from accomplishment of others, but a bunch for ourselves. I believe it is a feeling and not a thought.

Now we will obviously go into that “Yahoo” in a bit but let’s get “We are having fun” for a bit and then at the end we can circle around and lend our thoughts to the combination.

So did you know I am standing to write and my fingers are typing to a rhythm. Sometimes I just get all having fun to music. How can that be with life? (extra music today)

Driving down the freeway last Thursday I had an attack of the “UNFUN”. That is not good so I pulled over and just left a message on my buddies answer deal. That little act took away those unfun bugs. He called back in a bit and was having fun cajoling me. “Dierker life is not always fun – get over it.” Of course he is right and I got to the courthouse with plenty of fun. I really enjoy my trips downtown as those people are funny. The stress is palpable. Those trips remind me to hug my wife more as she kind of works in that atmosphere – but not completely as she is sequestered on a base.

Fun is like special food to eat. It does not sustain us or make things better really, it is just a matter of attitude.

Just for Fun

Just Part of My Happy Culture (but sad partly)

Fun isn’t the Sun. Fun isn’t a run. Fun is not food. Fun is not love, or anger. Fun is just a state of mind. Fun is not even an emotion. So, so many people do just fine without fun. I don’t think my wife does fun on the day to day deal. We argued heavily. It went on as I have a rule never to end an argument without resolution. It was heated. I ended it with the question of “Are we having fun yet?” I think that was not fun for her. A good soul might be called into a battle that is not of his making.

I had this sport I had fun playing. It is all over the place and makes Billions of Billions of dollars – no really billion-billion in the trickle down and up. Seriously this sport from children 6 up makes amazing amounts of money – from donations and programs for young, sick and old or impoverished this sport puts money into saving people who then make money and then so on and so on. It also makes people billionaires who invest their money and give literally millions across the world. I hear that there are manufacturers who hire entire places in China and give jobs because of this sport.

Well of course that is only one of the sports I really had fun playing. Soccer, Skiing, Baseball, Basketball and Track & Field and Golf are up there and I could go on. Yes what I am talking about is American Football. I did them because I really had fun doing them. Smash mouth brutal workouts and practices were fun for me. Shucks with my young boy I am having fun doing them all again.

I go to a game once or twice a year and half of those fans are not having fun. So why do they spend $250? We were signing my son up for a sport league and we saw two kids crying at the match/game. Holy cow, they were not having fun.

I was on a “Ramming”* team once. I was the biggest, strongest and had the best endurance. And so they mocked me and laughed and taught me about the rhythm and working together. Now that is fun.

*I forget what they technically called it now or then --- Crew.

For me, for my heaven of fun, it would have hardcore competition where everyone had fun instead of aspirations and profit. But I do not know if a heaven does fun because it is different than joy and love and charity and peace. I just do not know.

Volare' Dean Was All About Fun

Marketing Money is Fun

Not Sorry I Missed Your Call

So we have this Yahoo and we have pure unadulterated fun. And when we are really having fun we just shout out our term for Yahoo. Oh do not be confused Yahoo is really just a model. You must have your own term or use Yahoo that is cool. My favorite that I use when my elder children call is Yip Yip Yahoo!! Now some good folk think of that kind of fun as something from God and so they do something like an “Amen”. Good on them. But I think God gave us a free will and one of those options is fun. So technically it is a man thing. We can choose it. God smiles when we do but he does not create it. Hopeful and Joyful are different.

Scroll to Continue

Now I was out on a good and plenty walkabout and slammed my toe hard and therefor ripped my boot (light ones) and it was bleeding and I was a good two miles up on the “mountain”. Getting home was tough at the best. I was not really having fun. I was not happy. But I was still in love and joyful and laughed at my situation. Dang, two days off my feet and cost of new boots. Yahoo! No chores and some pampering for two days. Alright I admit the Ice Cream was a bit much for an old timer. Next hike and more Yahoo!

Seems to me that my best Yahoos are from getting back up. And that includes getting back up from an argument and returning to love. I fell off a small cliff once. Maybe 6ft. I landed hard and hurt like hell once my breath was back, I got up. Not a gall darn thing was broken, oh it hurt but not broken. Now there was some painful jumping and hand pumping and Yahoo echoed off the canyon walls. So now when I stumble but make it I yell Yahoo. Don’t care who hears it or how they look at me.

So Yahoo! And fun are our free will. That is way cool. But Joy and Faith, Hope and Love are not our choices. They are a commandment.

Excuse me but I am going back to having fun with Vivaldi, it just happens to be that kind of fun music day. On the other hand. My boy and I are doing Halloween decorations so I may miss your call.

So Fun

Check this fine lady out. You can tell that she could bust a gut holding back a huge smile. You are not supposed to have fun sometimes.

Dora and Flourish I thank you for you wonderful support, both in my writing and my life.

Yesterday was a pseudo holiday. Youngest daughter was in town, Gabe was free. Low Tide, so burritos, bags to collect plastic garbage and shells, homemade natural sun screen and a lot of water. Magnifying glass and loop.

And head out for an hour walk on the beach.

Oops 2 hours later we had to turn around. Almost 5 hours is a bit much but we couldn't stop.

FlourishAnyway from USA on October 14, 2019:

You should bottle up those fun pills you are on and sell them for a dollar. You’re really having fun.

Dora Weithers from The Caribbean on October 14, 2019:

It's difficult not to have some kinda fun being around you or reading you. Thanks for your continual fun state of mind.

Eric Dierker (author) from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 13, 2019:

Linda it was a "holdout", very cool bargaining. Service providers got "heldup". All good by AM tomorrow. I get it but will not bore you with it. The idiots glitched a format implementation. On purpose. Too fun. If you noticed you could not access/upload for a bit - anything. ICANN got pissed off. APnic went full ballistic.

Our internet works but only on a whim.

Eric Dierker (author) from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 13, 2019:

Peggy so kind of you. YouTube and I are made up back in friendship.

For some strange reason they like my business. Something about these 100's of thousands of domain names domain names I influence. Go figure, when you start here in 1997 you get some juice.

My other toe hurts more now.

Linda Lum from Washington State, USA on October 13, 2019:

A quick note to Peggy Woods--this is happening to a LOT of us. A glitch that (I hope) the Hub Pages gurus are looking into.

Eric Dierker (author) from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 13, 2019:

Sorry Mel. It was just frozen fresh strawberries. Three in your mouth. Brain freeze and chasing each other in the back yard squirting the juice. Of course nare a cloth for staining.

My neighbor stuck his head over - ala Mr. Wilson and admonished the boy not to raise me up too quick.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on October 13, 2019:

Sorry I could not listen to your videos that others mentioned. The message says that "You have opted out of youtube. Update your cookie settings here." Maybe it is a glitch. Oh well, Yahoo it is! Ha! I hope your toe feels better.

Mel Carriere from Snowbound and down in Northern Colorado on October 13, 2019:

My grouchy white cracker face almost accidentally broke into a smile reading about your fun. Joy and love are commandments? Whoa! Somewhere in between all the hell fire from my regular preachers I missed that part. Great sermon - but don't pass the hat, my joy don't run that deep.

Eric Dierker (author) from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 13, 2019:

Linda shush, the boy has been tasked with hosing off the porch. Young Gecko appeared and he is rescuing it to outside. Two nasty spiders and the jungle hunt goes on. Pith helmets called for. Oops I forgot to be the adult.

Eric Dierker (author) from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 13, 2019:

Ruby, truth be told hurting myself is more painful as an embarrassment. Whining around here carries as much weight as a flea. We just shot ourselves close range with out helmets on -- they work -- more to be revealed for Halloween.

Linda Lum from Washington State, USA on October 13, 2019:

Eric, this article is just so full of fun. I have to wonder though why the search engine gurus chose the name 'Yahoo' for their endeavor. The word was first used in Gulliver's travels as the name for the ugly, uncivilized man-beasts. I prefer your use of the word, especially when preceded by yip-yip.

Ruby Jean Richert from Southern Illinois on October 13, 2019:

If we're not having fun, shame on us. Enjoyed your Sunday sermon, sorry you hurt your toe. Yahoo, doodle, do.

Eric Dierker (author) from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 13, 2019:

Mary we skipped a beat around here. Sometimes mom does not do fun. So we wink and nod and and giggle. And run along and giggle some more. Mom's are awesome!

Mary Norton from Ontario, Canada on October 13, 2019:

Yahoo Eric. What a great sermon. Have Fun. I will think of this each day now and make my days fun.

Eric Dierker (author) from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 13, 2019:

Special Pamela you help make this day fun -- it is already filled with happy and love. Put on your music and dance. I have found in my gardening that I get all stiff and sore. If I just add some dance moves that does not happen. It has core in physical therapy. I just have fun.

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on October 13, 2019:

This article is fun to read. There are many ways to have fun, as you wrote. Yahoo! I really liked your music videos also. Wonderful sermon, Eric. Have a great day.

Eric Dierker (author) from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 13, 2019:

John it is early Sunday here. Clearing for Winter Garden and washing my Lady's car. Does life get better? We chatted about Psalm 45 for Sunday.

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on October 13, 2019:

Yip Yip Yahoo! What great thoughts in this sermon. Wonderful music videos too.

Eric Dierker (author) from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 13, 2019:

Sorry Bill but you are in the line in back of me getting up to the serving table of slow learners.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on October 13, 2019:

Suffering is optional....I've heard that one a few times. I guess you could say I was a slow learner. :(
