Dreams - Did a Ghost tell me the Future or was it Just a Coincidence?

For thousands of years, man has believed that when you dream, you can see the future. There are many cultures in the world that have this deep seated belief. In Aboriginal culture they believe that all things around them including everyday life is part of something they call 'Dreamtime'. In this Dreamtime everything is just part reality and part of the universal Heaven. When a child is born, he comes from the Dreamtime, and then departs back in to it when he dies. Amazon Indians believe that what they dream will come true, so it must be interpreted properly, to continue the well being of the individual. In the West, we tend to take dreams with a pinch of salt. Something to smile about, something to laugh at, and something to forget. But what if we are wrong? Nostradamus believed it. And many people believed him. And to add more fuel to the fire, what if a ghost or ghosts talk to you in your dreams and tells you of a future event that then comes true?

Ask yourself this, What would you believe?

Psychic Phenomenon by Nell Rose

My Story

My story starts years ago. I have always been a Skeptic/scientific/Psychic. In other words I have a great love of science. Teach me and I will soak it in. If I had been left alone, I would be purely scientific. But I wasn't. From a very early age I have been psychic. Now this sounds like an oxymoron. But it's not. The truth is that it is very helpful to keep a good balance between believing in the psychic world and the scientific. For example, if I had a precognition, in other words, I saw the future, instead of automatically believing it, I would try to find out the most scientific reason for this and why it happened. Unless I could find a good reason why not to believe it, then I would tick all the mental boxes and say, Yes, that was a psychic event. If more people tried this method then we would clean the wheat from the chaff and it would be better explained. Too many people are either too scientific or too psychic. And the trouble with being too far either way, is the fact that you always miss the obvious. For example, if a Psychic thought they had seen a ghost, they would always believe it was a ghost. There would be no reason to study the occurrence. In fact, somewhere in their brain, they would deliberately try and ignore the obvious fact that it was just a shadow causing them to presume that it was a ghost. In the same way, a scientist will always try and see the scientific view, therefore not be open to any form of psychic event. You only have to watch TV to understand what I am talking about. Scientists do not want to believe, therefore they don't see.

But back to my story. All my life I have had psychic experiences. There are too many to mention here, but I will talk about them later in another article.

Dream Interpretation

Warning's and signs.

My first Ghost in my dream, happened about four years ago. I had gone to bed as usual and had read my book, nothing remotely like my dream. There was nothing to make me think of this subject or have it play on my mind. First let me explain. My friend's boyfriend died just over ten years ago, and I was gutted. I loved him to bits, as a friend. I grieved and got on with life. I did dream about him sometimes, but this faded over the years until I had nearly forgotten about him. This night in particular, I began dreaming about my old house. Nothing unusual. As in all dreams we go with the flow, don't think about it and just act out the situation and then generally we wake up. This was what was happening to me, I wasn't aware that I was dreaming. I just was. Then all of a sudden I heard a voice. I suddenly 'woke up' in my dream. In other words, even though I was still sleeping normally, and dreaming, I was suddenly aware of the fact that I was dreaming. But the voice coming from behind me wasn't a dream. The only way that I can explain it is imagine you are watching a film, and you are deeply involved in the storyline, then all of a sudden someone comes in the front door and makes you jump. Reality suddenly hits you and you become aware of where and who you are. This is what happened to me.

Dreams or reality?

Dreams or reality?

I became aware that I was dreaming, and also I recognised the voice. it was Julian*. I knew his voice even after all these years. I carried on walking towards my front room in my dream, but his voice got louder and louder. More insistent at every step. The following conversation went like this:

'Nell, will you listen to me, Nell for goodness sake'

'What do you want Julian? Why are you yelling?'

'You have got to listen to me, you have to forgive Jane*'

(I had blamed Jane partly for Julian's death, they were at a party and someone gave him drugs, she was drunk at the time and in my grief I blamed her for not stopping it, I am aware now that it wasn't as simple as that, in fact I knew this at the time of the dream)

'I have forgiven her, why are you getting so upset?'

'You must forgive her, it wasn't her fault, I took the drugs, don't blame her'

'Why is it so important that I forgive her?'

'Because if you don't something horrible is going to happen to her and her family'

'Okay, okay don't worry, I will go and see her, what is going to happen?'

'I can't tell you'

Scroll to Continue

An argument ensued and I eventually started to yell at him.

'Go away Julian, I get it, okay? Now stop yelling at me!'

I woke up.

What the hell? It had been so real. In fact it disturbed me so much, I phoned Jane's mother, I never had Jane's number at that time. Everything seemed to be fine, so I carried on as usual. I did try and get in touch with her, but she was deep into drinking at this time and I, in my selfish way, decided that it must have been just a dream, and still kept away. I did see her a few times after this but she was so different I couldn't get through to her.

Aftermath and the Second Dream

Nearly two years ago, Jane's son took an overdose and is now in a vegetative state. Jane died of drink and grief last November. I remembered the dream. I felt so guilty. What did I do wrong? Should I have made myself go and see her? And what could I have done to change it all? I still feel guilty.

Two weeks ago I had another dream. Jane was walking towards me. It was near my house. I was aware that it was a dream as I could see the difference between the dream houses, and the reality of her. She looked beautiful. Her hair was shiny, her face was clean and healthy looking and even more strange, she looked like she should have done if the drink hadn't taken hold. She was walking towards me with a man. The man was very misty, quite corporeal. I couldn't quite see him. They were in deep discussion. She had a serious look on her face, which reminded me of someone talking to a professor or teacher. She was very ladylike and calm. I had never ever seen her like this. When she saw me, she walked over to where I was standing. Very slowly and calmly, she smiled and said hello. By this time, I was aware that I was 'awake' in my dream, and could ask her questions which I could direct at her quite easily as if I was awake. That was the strange thing about it. In a dream, you just talk rubbish or 'out of your control'. But I was completely in control.

The conversation went like this:

'Hi Jane, how are you?'

She smiled, sleepily. A peaceful look upon her face.

'I have been asleep, they made me. They said I needed to rest after what I had been through'

'How do you feel now?'

'I feel so much better'. She paused and looked at the ground.

'I was a mess. I was a mess for so many years, I feel so much better now, I am glad that I am here'

'What about Mike*?' I asked about her son.

She smiled.

'He is okay, I know he is being looked after well, and I will see him when his time comes. I don't know why I was worried' She smiled.

I looked at her. So calm. So much a real woman. She looked clean and healthy. Her hair was shiny, and she looked liked someone I had never seen before. In fact I had never ever seen her this way. There was nothing in my mind or memory of her like this. At that point I knew I wasn't dreaming.

Suddenly I saw the 'man' coming towards her.

'I must go' She said

'Will I see you again?' I asked

She smiled.

'Of course, I will come and see you again when I am better, don't worry'. Smiling, she turned away, and walked with the man out of my sight.

Was it all a dream?

Did I really speak to Julian?

I know for a fact that I had never seen Jane dressed like that, or as clean and healthy before. Even when we were teenagers, she liked to drink. Physically she was my age, mentally she was always a teenager. This woman before me was the Jane that should have been.

Does your mind calculate the problem, work it out, then like a mathematical equation give you the answer? For example: Jane drank, it would affect her children, therefore it equals danger?

Or am I thinking too much? Can our minds do this?

So you tell me.

What do you think? Science or Psychic? My mind? Or a Ghost?

Was it just brain chemicals or:

Was it Real?

No, not a coincidence! lol! well I don't believe it! thanks SweetiePie!

SweetiePie from Southern California, USA on January 10, 2018:

I have had some premonitions and dreams that came true in the past, so I think sometimes we are in tune with something, but maybe it was all a coincidence.

Thanks for chat! lol!

Cindy Lawson from Guernsey (Channel Islands) on April 29, 2012:

Me too, cheers Nell :)

Nell Rose (author) from England on April 29, 2012:

Haha! I will have to get the rubber dingy out, and sail out the top window! lol! hope it gets better there for you, I just want some sunshine! lol!

Cindy Lawson from Guernsey (Channel Islands) on April 29, 2012:

Well if you do get bogged down you will know you have a serious problem lol.

Nell Rose (author) from England on April 29, 2012:

Hope so. I just presumed that it would be quite a bit warmer there, never mind two more days and its the beginniing of summer! lol! well in theory! I live in a top floor maisonette so I am lucky not to be bogged down, and with a balcony it just runs straight off, mind you I would love to live near a beach! still can't have everything! haha!

Cindy Lawson from Guernsey (Channel Islands) on April 29, 2012:

Normally our island is about 4 degrees Celsius warmer than the UK mainland, so not a great deal. This weather for us at this time of year is also very unusual however, and now we would expect the weather to be quite pleasantly warm. Never mind, perhaps the veggies will play 'catch up' once the weather warms up again :)

Nell Rose (author) from England on April 29, 2012:

Thats terrible, I thought it was just us on the mainland, so much for a drought! I hope it gets dried out so that you can enter the Show, good luck! and there was me thinking that you were on a lovely hot island and I was sooo jealous! lol! hope it works out, nell

Cindy Lawson from Guernsey (Channel Islands) on April 29, 2012:

Weather here is awful right now Nell, I can't even go into the greenhouse properly because the water has drained through the outdoor soil and made its way underground to the greenhouse. When I tread on the weed suppressing membrane which makes up the floor of the greenhouse, the water just wells up through it into a big puddle. Nightmare for me because I need to be outdoors planting potatoes, carrots and peas right now (mainly to ensure they are ready to enter in our Annual West Show). I'll have to make do with dreaming of warm weather instead I guess lol ;)

Nell Rose (author) from England on April 29, 2012:

Hi misty, it would be great wouldn't it? and yes to play them later so we could record them for posterity, thanks for coming back, hope your not getting all the bad weather? we have had rain for weeks now, I am turning into a duck! lol!

Cindy Lawson from Guernsey (Channel Islands) on April 29, 2012:

It would definitely be great if we could 'record our dreams', wow, I would love to have that proof, but also be able to watch my dreams again at a time when I would not quickly forget them.

Nell Rose (author) from England on April 29, 2012:

Yes this was definitely one of those times that I couldn't rule it out, I just wish we could record our dreams! that way we have proof and then maybe they will look into it more, thanks as always, nell

Cindy Lawson from Guernsey (Channel Islands) on April 27, 2012:

This sounds like you experienced 'visitations' in your sleeping state. We are far more open to such things when asleep (as you would know). Amazing experiences, and too specific to rule out the possibility they were real spiritual experiences.

Nell Rose (author) from England on January 25, 2011:

Hi, mysterlady, I think Green Lotus has beaten you too it! lol but I am sure there are many other toilets you can write about! hee hee

Hi, Freya, I think I may of heard of this, I wish I could do it! ha ha thanks so much nell

Freya Cesare from Borneo Island, Indonesia on January 25, 2011:

Hi, Nell.

This is out of my league but still, always love to read your story.

My best friend told me once, we can control our dream once we learn to realize when we are in dream. He had been learning about this for long now and quite successful to lead the dream to go to where he want it to go. I understand the theory but poor in practice. My point is, it is possible to realize when we are in dream state and control everything we said there. Other than that, I am not sure I know.

Have a nice day, dear. ^_^

hi, mysterlady, ha ha I have had that dream so many times! and toilets! I always seem to want a toilet but can't find one! and then when I do, it is falling to pieces, what on earth does that mean? lol thanks again nell

mysterylady 89 from Florida on January 22, 2011:

Nell, I really enjoyed this hub, as well as the comments from other hubbers who shared their experiences. I must admit I am glad that some of my dreams do not come true, but I believe they do show something about my emotional state. When I was teaching, almost every year before school started, I would dream about being naked in a crowd. That one is pretty obvious, right?

I think you are right, a person is too psychic, or too scientific. Thanks for the great read.

Nell Rose (author) from England on January 18, 2011:

Hi, CmHypno, I love quantum physics, and I am sure that is where we will find the answer, did you see the TV programme on Mon 18th Jan? it gets weirder and weirder! lol but yes I agree, as long as we keep a balance then that is the only way to understand these strange things, thanks again nell

CMHypno from Other Side of the Sun on January 18, 2011:

Hi Nell, what a fascinating set of dreams. I have never seen that there is a particular problem between psychic experiences and science, I think that all our psychic experiences are a normal part of being human and one day science will be able to explain them. In fact quantum physics is already starting to do this. I have worked as a medium and am very interested in healing and spirituality, but that doesn't mean that I am not interested in science and I can be just as sceptical as the next person. Hope you keep dreaming!

Nell Rose (author) from England on January 17, 2011:

Hi, AC, thanks for reading it, I do like to try and keep it balanced because we never know, it may be proven one of these days, so it's best to sit on the fence! lol

Hi, FirstCommunion, thanks for reading it, I appreciate your sentiment, I don't think anybody really understands it, it was probably just a dream, who knows? thanks so much nell

Hi, sligo, I understand what you mean about the energy, I have just watched a programme about quantum physics, love it! lol, so you never know! the world is stranger than we thought! thanks again nell

Hi Nell, I really enjoyed this story. I can't say that I have had any similar experience or that I haven't. I rarely remember my dreams. I do believe in an afterlife as did the brilliant philosopher, Socrates. Greek mythology accepted a final judgement after death as recorded at the end of Plato's Georgias.

I routinely visit cairns and family gravesites for perspective. There is an energy that I feel from a different dimension. I am not psychic but believe my gut. Intuition, maybe, but there may be more to it. I keep an open mind. I enjoyed the read. Cheers.

I don't actually believe this things,

Ipeoney from USA on January 15, 2011:

This is actually a very good post. I often have a dream and sometimes it's scary. and some of my dreams came true, so I'm scared when I have a bad dream. Someone told me that if you have a bad dream just make sure you tell it to someone, because tellig someone will block the dream to become a reality. And then I said what if the dream is good, do I have to tell someone too? Because if I tell about the good dream it may not happen. She couldn't gave me the answer so I assume not to tell anybody if it is a good dream. Lol

Muldanian on January 13, 2011:

I too am very sceptical. I do not believe in angels, tarot card readings, flying saucers or an afterlife. However, a few years ago, I started going to a Spiritualist church, not out of belief, but from an interest in the beliefs of others. I was introduced to the concept of psychometry, whereby holding an item is supposed to produce images relevant to its owner. To my amazement, when I tried it, I had images of their homes, family members, and life situations. This developed into an ability to lay my hand upon a page of a picture book, with my eyes blindfolded, and then be able to descibe the pictures upon that page. However, this ability went against everything that I believe in, and I decided that it just could not be. As soon as I had decided this, the ability left me, and has never returned. So, I do agree that it is possible and beneficial to have a healthy scepticism mixed with an open mind.

Hi, Frank, thanks so much for reading it, it is strange isn't it? maybe you are right, there is so much out there that we just don't understand, thanks nell

Francesco Menchise from Brisbane Australia on January 12, 2011:

Hi Nell Rose! You dreams are very interesting indeed, So let me say what I believe about dreams. When we are asleep we are so relaxed that we would be able to tune in to another dimension so to speak, so, it could be possible for us to receive messages from the other side. It might also be the accumulated knowledge that may exist in the cosmos, which we are able to see while we are asleep sometimes only of course.

I have to add that these are only my beliefs, so I have no proof of what I have just written. May God send you sweet dream only.

Nell Rose (author) from England on January 12, 2011:

Hi, Joshua, nice to see you, where you been? ha ha seriously, this sounds like telepathy, and a pretty strong one at that, it just goes to show that that is genuine, thanks again nell

Hi, Millenium, thanks for reading it, I know what you mean, I don't think that dreams are bad, or even if they are ghosts, still not sure about that, then we just need to figure out why and what the are about, thanks so much nell

Hi, FirstCommunion, thanks so much for reading it, and I am glad you liked it, cheers nell

Nell Rose (author) from England on January 12, 2011:

Hi, john, it's a great idea to write them down, I used to have a book by the side of my bed, to write down any dreams or ideas, I don't know why I stopped really, I remember once having a great poem in my head, it was fantastic, by the time I got a pen and paper it had gone! lol but any dreams that you think are precognitions these are the ones to document just in case you need them, thanks again nell

FirstCommunion from US on January 12, 2011:

I have experienced this kind of dreams, glad you translate them for me.

Millenium on January 12, 2011:

I believe everyone is psychic. Just depends on how much is brought about in the open IMHO. As for dreams, I have worked with dreams for most of my adult life and I am of the belief that there is something brought about in that way to offer advice or teach you something. It can be through your subconscious or from entities such as ghosts. I don't believe in bad dreams or nightmares but I do believe that it's all in the interpretation.

Levi Joshua Kell from Arizona on January 11, 2011:

Hi Nell, I believe everyone has psychic abilities, some people are just more perceptive of their inner feelings. I have had a few dreams come true. When I was in prison, I dreamed that my Dad had a heart attack. I was very upset by my dream and called my mother as soon as I was able. When I called home, I told my mother about my awful dream, and the first words out of her mouth were; "Dads in the hospital he had a heart attack" - so I can't be told that some dreams don't come true. I also had a strange dream in which my brother was smoking cigaretts. The thing is he had quit over ten years earlier, he took up the habit again the night of my dream, and to this day smokes 2 packs a day. This has happened only a couple of other times. Take care.

lightning john from Florida on January 11, 2011:

Sorry if I was off subject. I too have had visits from the other side, or whatever one may call it. Most of the visits while totally awake were when I was a child, before any sexual activity, of course. I think that it's all related and a science tangible, I know others will say there is no solid proof of that. If a person has symbolic dreams as I do, keeping a deam diary is just one way to use that extra brain power that would otherwise remain dormant. You may already be doing this. It's amasing, the results that will be the outcome. Then when it is written, you have it on paper and you can share some things that may actually have come about with somone that you can trust. I myself am very careful with whom I share my dream episodes.

Nell Rose (author) from England on January 11, 2011:

Hi, Lightning john, wow, that was amazing, it seems to me that it was probably telepathy, I quite believe in that, because of so many things that have happened in my past, I think it is the one thing that can be explained by science, thanks so much for sharing your story, cheers nell

lightning john from Florida on January 11, 2011:

Hi Nell, Great writing as usuall!

Here is a true story for you. My Father and I were always very close but in 1986 he left my Mother for a school sweetheart. I was so mad at him. There was no warning and he never let on any indication that he was planning this move. Just one day woosh! he was gone.

Even though he left my Mother the farm property all paid for, my Mother was devastated. I was 25 then and came back home to see after my Mother. She cried and sometimes would even roll on the floor holding her stomache, she wanted to die. I was furious with my Father and refused to speak or even consider seeing him. I was adament about my position on it and after some months it seemed like he never existed. The one day while visiting my sister in another town, I was exausted and retired to a geust bedroom for a nap. I fell into a deep sleep and started to dream of seeing my Father. He was very old and frail, in a nursing home. In my dream I started crying saying "Oh Dad I'm so sorry, please forgive me!"

Just then my sis was knocking at the door, "Johnny wake up! it's Dad on the phone, he wants to talk to you!"

It had been almost two years since I had spoke to him. I was shaking and sweating and couldn't believe it. My sister had no contact with him until that day also.

Now he is that old man in my dream, struggling with Alzheimers. I love him and my stepmother, it wasn't easy. Life can be so bizzare.

Thanks for this very interesting Hub!

HI, lontach, that would be great! Just to sit down and have a chat, I could talk the hind legs of a donkey! as my mum would have said! ha ha I do agree with you, science has to come into it somewhere, and one of these days they will suddenly realise something profound, and we will all say, I knew it! lol thanks again nell

Hi, Martie, I think that is the trouble so many people, or so called experts believe this and that, and at the end of the day, nobody really knows, so we have to go by our own gut instincts, thanks as always nell

Hi, Audrey, that's exactly right! I always feel that I am on the wrong channel, I dream that I am someone else and then I see them and they tell me that actually yes they did get married etc, or whatever the dream was, very strange, I think I will stick an arial to my head, I might pick up better signals! lol thanks again nell

Hi, 2uesday, thanks so much, I wouldn't know where to start! lol but thank you, maybe I will one of these days!

Hi, Micky, that is fascinating! I think the first one means that you had to face your nightmares, and you did! and the second one is probably that you worry about your friends but it proves that you don't have to because they are fine! I had a dream book ages ago! but I do think that each dream is only relevant to the person themselves, but some dreams are self explanatory, thanks so much nell

Nell Rose (author) from England on January 11, 2011:

Hi, hubpageswriter, thanks for stopping by, you could be right of course, I think the trouble is whatever we believe, maybe there is an explanation for it, whether it is God or the Devil, or even just something to do with telepathy, I doubt we will ever know, thanks so much nell

Hi, guys, sorry it took so long, I was trying to get on here all day, stupid computer! Imagine trying to publish a hub, and it not working! Arghh! lol

Hi, misty, thanks for reading it, I sometimes wonder if it is always ghosts that we feel or see, there could be timeslips, or even our own telekenisis, which is our minds throwing things around, in the case of polly's table, science will come up with a few answers I am sure, but I think we will have to keep wondering about the rest, thanks so much, nell

Audrey Kirchner from Washington on January 11, 2011:

I have dreams too but sometimes mine get on the 'wrong channel' if that makes sense. I will dream something as if it's happening to me but then a few days later or months or whatever, it happens to someone ELSE. I always think I have my antenna on crooked.

The point is though I always think those 'messages' were meant for something but was I supposed to do anything about any of it? I don't think so but it creeps me out and depresses me when it happens if the 'thing' is bad. People have told me 'you need to be more open' and then I'd 'get it right' but I don't think that at all. And I don't really want to be running around telling people their future to be honest.

I think I dream that the things happen to me so that I won't have to hurt someone else! I have gotten in the habit though of projecting to everyone I know about a dream if it was something I feel could possibly happen to them....weird I know but I'm covering the bases! If they have a dog and I have a dog eating the mushrooms dream...I just tell everyone I know who has a dog....whew. It's tough being a psychic. Bob says it's psychotic but we'll just see what he says next time I give him a tip and it pans out!

Nell, thank you for sharing this phenomenon with us. I had many of this kind of dreams in my life. I’ve based my short story published here - The Curse - on the latest one I had. I explored the possible causes, read hundreds of books, and eventually realized that nobody have a clue what it is really all about. I guess every individual will know in his heart what the meaning and purpose of his personal experience was/is. Just accept this as part of your being and listen to your gut feelings and DO what you know you should and may do. See you again, my friend!

Ruby Jean Richert from Southern Illinois on January 11, 2011:

Nell,I love this.I think your dream was telling you that you could have done nothing to stop your friend from drinking, that's something a person has to do for themselves.I want to think she found peace and was in a happy place.Who knows exactly where we go after death. The bible is not clear. When Jesus was hanging on the cross, he told the thief that he would be with him that day, another scripture tells us that'The dead in christ will rise on judgement day'so one leads me to believe we go directly to Heaven, the other makes me believe we rest in death until judgement.Lord! I don't know.I don't worry about it.Your Hubs are always so interesting.Thank you for sharing

Your story sounds fascinating, whenever you write I can imagine exactly what's happening :)

Just reading about your experience I'd be 50% skeptical and 50% believe, i think you would be the only person who'd know if what happened was true.

I have also had some 'premonitions', in the past about a few things, then later found out that those things had happened, so I do like to believe but as you said keep a balance between science and psychic.

'Scientists do not want to believe, therefore they don't see' - I would agree with this to some extent, but those scientists would have to be OTT scientists. Coincidentally i'm a scientist plus a lot of my friends from college are as well and we are all a very open minded bunch!

Nell i'd love to have a coffee with you, I want to hear about all your experiences with the supernatural:) and i'll tell you mine.

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on January 11, 2011:

I have a very open mind where psychic events are concerned. There is so much about reality that we don’t understand. I very much agree with your opinion that we need to balance a belief in science with a belief that psychic events are possible.

As to whether your dreams were created entirely in your brain with no external influence or were actually communication with your friends, I think you have to decide that for yourself, or if that’s not possible, be content with “maybe” as a conclusion. Only you know the exact nature of your dreams and how they felt compared to normal dreams.

I love something mysterious and "ghost" is part of mysterious things. I am glad you want to share your experience about ghost. Thanks for writing this. Rating up.

Micky Dee on January 11, 2011:

Hey Nell. I would surely not know what goes on in the spirit or dream world of others. I think my dreams would focus on what my mind has received or dwelt upon. But I'll contradict myself.

I had "war" nightmares. People in black chased me. I fought with them. I had to continually face them and run exactly toward them in order to drive them away. I have other examples of these types of dreams where my consciousness influence my sub-consciousness.

Then - I had a dream and we were on top of a mountain. I threw a frisbee to a friend. He jumped for it. He caught it but fell down feet first to a "piece" of the cliff broke off. I saw him descending while standing erect on the falling rock and he was playing the "air guitar" as he and the rock were falling. Just before he and the rock collided with that abrupt halt at the bottom, he just jumped off. That was fun! So, I'm no dream interpreter. God bless!

Nell when ever I read your writing I think that you have a book waiting to be written and that if you ever do it, then will be a compelling read. The way you write is so powerful as well as the subject being fascinating too.

hubpageswriter on January 11, 2011:

My take on this would be, to prevent myself from too much thinking, whenever I dream of something like a revelation or some sort, or something really bad, I just shrug it off and I try not tell another soul about it. It plays on my conscience and sometimes the dream repeats itself in another form. I'd say those dreams that make me feel really scared or sweat out are just works of the Devil (in my opinion.)

But for those that are like giving me certain clues or hints, and then days or weeks later it happens, I'd suddenly remember about the dream I have had. And it makes me wonder was that like a clue from God or something. So hence, whenever I dream of something bad, I'd take that as disturbances from the Devil, and something good, from God and to look forward to it. Praying that good things will indeed happen and all the bad things stay away.

Another wonderful hub, Nell and thanks for having the courage to share. You know I'm a believer in all things magical, mystical and otherworldly. There are many planes of existence crossing here, so I believe, not just this physical one we play in. So all things are possible, and even probable. In as much as I'd love to believe in everything, I am a skeptic though and do have a head on my shoulders - or what I like to call a "flake-o-meter".

Since you asked, you have always been sincere and level-headed in your approach to all things psychic on these pages, as you say. And in my opinion, I agree with Misty, you received these messages clearly in that "dream" state where one can cross these barriers. I've also had these experiences and I've also never experienced "dangerous" results in Spirit communication. Its always been their initiation.

That's my two cents Lady Nell. You are one special lady that friends need to come back and let you know that you must not carry around that guilt. Namaste'

voted up and beautiful from me, nell! bittersweet, but that's how many dreams can be. thanks for sharing your dreams with the are truly special. :)

Cindy Lawson from Guernsey (Channel Islands) on January 10, 2011:

Can I just say to Pollyannalana that she thinks what she experienced was 'dangerous', but nothing 'dangerous' has happened as a result, (unless you count the coffee table lifting up, which is not really dangerous, and may just have been a communication from Spirit). It is easy to feel threatened as a knee-jerk reaction to things we don't understand, and have been brainwashed into believing are 'evil' simply because we don't yet understand them.

Fear Not, we 'see' these things because we were meant to, even if we don't yet know or understand the reason why!

Cindy Lawson from Guernsey (Channel Islands) on January 10, 2011:

Now this is really my kind of hub. I am always captivated by paranormal and psychic experiences, yet like you, the Scientist in me looks for explanations. I am the same with UFOs, Ghosts, Mediums etc. I do believe in the paranormal for sure, but I am healthily sceptical of anything that lacks the level of proof/convincing I require.

The events that happened to you seem very plausible to me. After all, we are at our most relaxed when we are asleep, and no doubt our subconscious is more 'open' to interacting on other levels. Why do we have dreams, could it be a way for us to receive messages, after all, this is even quoted in the Bible!

Not that you need my 'belief' in what you experienced, but for what it is worth, I feel you received both these messages for a reason, and they were genuine. The 'dreams' were too clear for them to simply be the average garbled rubbish so many people dream after alcohol, eating late, drugs, stress etc. I like to think of it as a 'Psychic Internet' and YOU have broadband! :)

Pollyannalana from US on January 10, 2011:

I totally believe there is too but I think it a dangerous place to go. Believe it or not my husband and I saw 2 brand new really old vehicles, a truck and a car as we were heading down a 2 lane highway toward a bridge and there were roads on each side of the highway and when we got there they were gone and we both not knowing if the other saw them or not looked at each other. They disappeared right before our eyes and we have gone by there many times since and never saw a thing since. Also we had a heavy coffee table lift up while we were sitting on the couch talking about a dead man years ago.

Hi, Enlydia, thanks so much, cheers nell

Hi, SJK, I think our minds are amazing, they make everything seem so real, it is a pity it probably is just our minds working it out, but you never know! cheers nell

I do think sometimes our dreams help us resolve issues and complete unfinished business. It is quite uncanny thought.

Nell Rose (author) from England on January 10, 2011:

Hi, christopher, thanks for reading it, it was strange. but it was the first incident that got me confused, did Julian come and tell me what was going to happen? or did I just work it out for myself? very odd! thanks again nell

Nell Rose (author) from England on January 10, 2011:

Hi, Rhonda, thanks so much, it certainly was weird, but who knows? maybe it was true!

Hi, Yoovie, I love physics! especially quantum physics, I read as much as I can, so as you said, who knows exactly what is out there, and how it works? the whole thing is mysterious! lol thanks so much, cheers nell

Christopher Antony Meade from Gillingham Kent. United Kingdom on January 10, 2011:

Thanks for sharing that Nell.

My opinion is that your friend contacted you through your dream to let you know that she was alright, and in a better place. I'm sure you will get a chance to confirm that with her, but not for a good few years yet though.

Nell Rose (author) from England on January 10, 2011:

Hi, zionsphere, thanks for reading it, My opinion on what you have said is that people may laugh at you or say it is in your head, but how do they know? maybe they are right, or maybe they are wrong, 50/50 chance of getting it right! nobody knows, even the ones who write these stories, including me, I have just written it to record it and get other peoples opinions, I have no idea what is real or not, was it just my brain? or was it real? every one is entitled to their opinion, so don't be afraid to say it, okay? thanks nell

Nell Rose (author) from England on January 10, 2011:

Hi, Polly, thank you so much, perhaps you are right, it probably is my mind, and you are totally right about forgiving myself and remembering her as she was in the dream, you are amazing, and you have certainly put it in perspective, so thank you, nell

Lin Poa from at the beach on January 10, 2011:

Nell that was a great and totally interesting article. I'm also thinking practically the same way as you are. I love science and I've heard some similar kinds of dreams from my family members as well. BTW. do you know that physics say that 73% of the universe and thus everything around us is totally unknown to us? It's called dark energy and all we know is that it has been here all the time, and keeps expanding. Then Dark matter makes up 23 percent. The matter we are familiar with — the stuff of planets, stars, and gas clouds — makes up only about 4 percent of the universe. There really is something going on around us that we don't have a clue about.

Rhonda Musch from The Emerald Coast on January 10, 2011:

Wow. A great story Nell. It seemed so real too me. Maybe it was. Thanks for sharing.

zionsphere from Oregon on January 10, 2011:

Thank you for sharing your experience. I wrote a blog on a site that nobody visits about a similar experience I had (except it was a daydream), because I didn't want anyone to argue that it was all in my head, like the few people that I have told have done.

I think it's very courageous to share you experience with the world.

I think that there are entities, be it ghosts, angels, demons, or God, that do contact us and give us things to ponder and act upon in what ever way makes us comfortable when we are talking to them. This can happen in dreams, daydreams, visions, or in the form of some random feeling we get that lets us know something is going on.

I have had visits from several people within a few days after their deaths. All of them were smiling, and even if they still looked the way they did just before they died, they seemed healthy and happy.

This gives me hope. Thanks again for sharing.

Pollyannalana from US on January 10, 2011:

I won't say you aren't Psychic or something like and I think I am too(I call mine gift of suspicion) although the bible says there is such it doesn't sound like it was approved of but said in end days old men will dream dreams and young men will have visions but you lost a friend you loved and you needed that meeting. I might have said or at least told you but I thought Mom was in the room with me one night about 3 months ago, about 3 months after she died and I welcomed her, it didn't scare me, but it turned out to be a long calendar blowing out from the wall but I was awake and still somehow it felt she had been here and I needed that. I think our bodies and minds just take care of things for us sometimes. You feel better about her I can tell, and you can allow yourself to forgive yourself knowing we are not responsible for what we know we can't stop. Id say you are just in a step of letting guilt go that you shouldn't have. You will remember her from now on as in the dream I bet because you need to.
