Deception, delusion, destruction.
Delusion is more than deception. Delusion can be thought of as, "a fixed false belief". We might also think of delusion as being a curse from the Lord.
But wait, that is not all. In the end-times, the Lord has promised people will be given over to "powerful delusion". In other words, people are going to be caught up in a lie they cannot escape from.
So we see a progressive problem here; deception becomes delusion that locks people into destruction.
If this isn't sufficient to stop us in our tracks and cause us to seek the Lord with all our heart, mind and soul, then quite frankly, I don't know what is.
The cause of delusion.
My basic understanding of the reason we become delusional comes from reading Romans Chapter 1.
We might say that Romans Chapter 1 contains a promise; when we deliberately set aside the truth that God sets plainly before us (firstly through creation, secondly through the scriptures and finally through the Lord Jesus Christ) He gives us over to fixed false beliefs.
Delusion is caused by willfully turning a deaf ear to the Lord.
The Lord's way in delusion.
In the Old testament we see many accounts of false prophets leading people astray with their false messages. Today we see the same kind of thing, false teachers leading people astray with their false teaching.
But we need to pause here and think on this. God works through these things, it's one of the primary ways He judges His people. False prophets and false teachers are used (allowed) by God to separate the true from the false, the righteous from the wicked, the sheep from the goats.
False messages and false teaching reinforce deception to the point where it becomes delusion.
So the question we need ask today is this, "why is the Lord allowing so many false teachers to prosper with their false teaching?"
The root of the problem.
For me personally, false teachers and false teaching are not the root of the problem but just a consequence of it.
For me, the root of the problem is the ecclesiastical system, which replaces Christ and His ekklesia. This system is very easy to see because it's the same as any other human system:
- Formal use of power and authority.
- Routine and mechanistic ways of getting things.
- Predominance of one-way communication.
Jesus made it very clear in His words and actions that this system had no part in His kingdom.
Therefore, the ecclesiastical system is men rejecting the Lord's way to establish their own. It is men wilfully turning a deaf ear to the Lord.
Yet the ecclesiastical system claims to be founded and built in Christ. I can only come to one conclusion here; the ecclesiastical system is a counterfeit ekklesia.
Satan's counterfeit ekklesia.
For just over a decade I attended church "faithfully", not realising that even though the Pastor was born-again and his teaching true to scripture, I was submitting myself to a human system of relating to the Lord and a relating to others.
I even became part of the ecclesiastical system believing I was serving the Lord. Thankfully, the Lord created circumstances that soon revealed the reality. I was serving a system, a system that had teeth and it was eating me up. When it had enough of me (I think my system flavour wore off) it spat me out.
Now, every time I look back at my "ecclesiastical system" experience, I shake my head and tell the Lord I'm sorry. I still wonder how I could have been such a fool!
I can hear people saying now that the ecclesiastical system has been used by God for some great works in the past. I agree. I think the Lord has been gracious with us for about two Milena.
But now enough is enough. That same ecclesiastical system has been responsible for some of the worst behaviour and it has more often than not brought the Lord's Name into disrepute.
I am convinced that down through history, the Lord has been giving parts of the ecclesiastical system over to Satan. This is why various "moves" of God in the past have meant the Lord's people "coming out".
Now, today, The Lord is giving all of the ecclesiastical system (wherever it exists, not just in the church system) over to Satan's control.
The counterfeit ekklesia is now Satan's possession, to do with as he pleases.
The people that claim to be fulfilling the plans and purposes of God are now fulfilling the plans and purposes of Satan.
- Formation of a One-World Religion.
- Formation of a New World Order.
- Persecution of the Saints.
The vast majority of Christians today are, through the ecclesiastical system, caught up in a counterfeit ekklesia that is fulfilling the plans and purposes of Satan.
Shine Jesus shine
Fill this land with the Father's glory
Blaze, Spirit blaze,
Set our hearts on fire
Flow, river flow
Flood the nations with grace and mercy
Send forth Your word
Lord and let there be light.
(Song by Graham Kendrick).
Please take a moment now to consider some of the main messages coming from the ecclesiastical system today, concerning the end-times.
- Unity among all Christians.
- A great revival with signs and wonders such as the world has not seen before.
- All nations with Christ as head.
But the scriptures clearly show that we should expect the exact opposite:
- The Sun will go dark (revelation of the the scriptures will cease, the light of Christ will not be shining).
- The stars will fall (there will be a great falling away of believers).
- The moon will turn to blood (there will be great bloodshed amongst those loyal to Christ).
A counterfeit ekklesia has a counterfeit Christ. It offers counterfeit sacrifices on counterfeit altars and it preaches a counterfeit gospel that will soon be confirmed with counterfeit signs and wonders.
9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
(2 Thes 2 NKJV).

You do an excellent job of telling us what NOT to do. You expose false religion in what is called "church". Please share what TO DO if you're a seeker, believer, and desire to truly follow Jesus Christ. Description of the problem is helpful. Please offer the Prescription. How can I be a part and meet with the Ekklesia?
Benjamin Maxwell from Kingdom of God on August 10, 2014:
It was prophesied of old that there would always be deceivers in the world. Satan can appear as an angel of light. But our Lord has allowed this thing to happen so think it not strange. For it is through this false reality that the righteous might be proven faithful. For if a believer be not a hearer only but a doer as well spiritual growth will bless the faithful follower with all wisdom and understanding in the Word. All those who call upon His name, but are hearers of the Word only not doing all that He has said will be deceived. Fear God and Do His commandments - this is the duty of man.
howtopam from Alberta, Canada on August 10, 2014:
Thank God that you are no longer deceived. The Lord has given you wisdom and understanding through your obedience to Him. Such wisdom is only offered through spiritual growth to the God's elect. Yes the Holy Scriptures state that God has allowed false apostles to teach a counterfeit christ that leads to worship of the god of this current world. This is set in place by our Lord so that His elect may be proved. The only way to escape the cleverness of satan and the delusion that has been created is to "Fear God and faithfully DO ALL of His commandments." It is through complete obedience to God that Spiritual growth come into maturity and wisdom and understanding are granted. God's elect are to be Spiritually mature.

Thanks for your comments graceinus .... my intention is to follow up for sure.

freeradicalsteve- A very good and well thought out Hub. I agree that many in christianity are delusional and it reflects in their modern day churches. False doctrines are everywhere. Which is why I believe that only way out of it or to avoid it completely is to commit oneself to indepth study of God's word. And to maintian this commitment to study God's word. Studying God's word is a lifelong task. In doing so, one can or should be able to identify false doctrine when they hear it. I believe this Hub has hit the mark. My only question is will there be follow up Hub(s) to this one from you?
Timothy Donnelly from Ontario, Canada on February 26, 2014:
freeradicalsteve, I agree with your notion that God has allowed much untruth, etc. for His purposes. You speak of and refer to the Epistle to the Romans as do I (below). It is recorded in the New Testament, KJV (Romans 8: 28) "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." I referred to this promise of the Lord in my latest hub, "Dream Interpretation with a Christian Perspective", which should be approved for publication in the next 24 hrs or so.
I believe the scripture that all things work together for good to them that love God can also be related to the blind man that Jesus cured and answered that nobody [mentioned] or sin was responsible for his blindness, but it was so in order to glorify and prove God in our midst.
Peace and Good Tidings freeradicalsteve.

A very truthful message!

This is good, but you must go the full mile, God didn't call us to hold church on the internet. I can share, like Aquilla, or like Priscilla, but there is no Apollos here, as there is no mandate on the net.

I have heard people use the passage about the Great Falling Away and claim it means the Rapture! They will not see it otherwise.
PlanksandNails on December 08, 2013:
The ecclesiastical figures in the modern "church" have a pretense of being godly, but refuse to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. They preach a perverted Gospel full of clever deceptions and lies. Unfortunately, the lies have become so common to those under Satan's influence find it easier to tell lies than the truth.
Paul warned the Church about the great deception of Satan and his ministers, but this is foreign to the modern "church." They cannot make distinctions between what is truth and what is the illusion of truth. The apostasy is right in front of our faces, but too many eyes are glossed over to see it for what it is.
And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds. - 2 Corinthians 11:14-15
Here is a clue, the ministers of Satan look and sound like what deceived people think Jesus Christ's ministers should look and sound like. That is why they do not worship in spirit and truth, but worship in spirit and the illusion of truth.
The true personal individual study of God's Word is scarce. That is why the corporate masses gobble up the wares of the Antichrist, because they need some professional mediators to do everything for them. The sad fact is that the basic doctrines of the true faith, and fear of God are unknown and foreign in delusional Christianity.
The hardest people to reach are not those in the world, but those in organized religion. There will be those that read this important article and will not understand any of the words on the page.
Thank-you for writing a very timely message and heeding God's call with a message of the utmost urgency.
