Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
In the dimly lit streets of the city, a call for truth is heard. It echoes as if the spiraling towers did not exist. The city’s inhabitants have become a lost society. They do not perceive the true meaning of life. Like zombies caught in a trance, they have forgotten their Creator and followed contrived fantasies. Few dare to step out from the crowd and take the road less traveled that leads to truth. See how the land is growing in darkness.
The citizenry’s moral values have become corrupted, for they now call lies virtuous. Our politicians promote the ethics of convenience and the new age gurus pronounce mysterious ways to discover fuller lives. Together, they cause—through coercion—good men everywhere not to make a stand against the perverting of truth. They say, “Don’t twirl truth’s banner, for those who oppose us will be silenced.” These men without the fear of God commit great sins because their souls have no restrainer. Self-actualization and justification are now their anthem’s cry. If it feels good, do it, regardless of the consequences to others. This crime against public virtue could have been easily defeated but for the lack of courage. Like the Europeans before September 1939, the God-fearing men of this generation were deceived into thinking that appeasing evil would somehow allow them to live in peace. Consequently, we have reaped a harvest of what we allowed others to sow.
Consider, as a microcosm, the traditional family unit that is being attacked on all fronts. Intellectuals taught our parents that there was no God, and they were gods unto themselves; and more importantly, truth was no longer universal but existed solely in the eye of the beholder. This left our mothers and fathers void of wisdom. Who could they turn to in time of terror if there was no God? They lacked the knowledge needed to handle their own crises, much less those of their children. As a result, they increasingly excluded themselves from their offspring’s lives. The children were then abandoned to the squalid marketers of perversion and rebellion because their parents had no answers and were incapable of being role models to their own flesh. Due to the void of parental guidance, these marketers were able to develop a well thought out, strategic campaign that uses the methods of Madison Avenue to market rank lies to our children. From pitching promiscuity as “freedom” to promoting abortion as “choice,” the marketers of evil are always selling our children something destructive—with catastrophic results.
What reprobates the children became to our shame. Yet, this was not the only place where an evil seed took root. The schools taught and permitted every unthinkable idea but dismissed the Creator of life. With words that tarnished the hearer, agenda-driven teachers daily recited contemptible sermons of chaos. Today, schools—once centers of classical learning—have become nothing more than pagan indoctrination centers in collusion with the overwhelming forces in our society, which are planning to take us far away from our original American concept of freedom with responsibility, marriage with commitment, and other Judeo-Christian values.
This deception must be exposed for the children’s sake. Christians must boldly enter the public discourse and teach our children the everlasting truth. Each life has meaning and was purposefully preordained by God. Every child should be taught to make a positive impact on society, leave behind an enduring testimony that will help another find the way, and realize that there are consequences for choosing to live immorally. Let us begin this day anew to teach them the way that leads to ultimate fulfillment and life everlasting. Do this because no man knows the day when all mankind will be required to kneel before the throne of God. Those who travel a common road must pay the toll with their soul. Therefore, let us who are wise choose to follow after truth. For by doing otherwise, our life’s achievement will be as barren land and hold no eternal worth.
