My goal is to write articles that go against the flow to pique discussion, offer a different perspective and connect some dots.
There are many who are in the counterfeit church system who are under the oppression and captivity of Spiritual Babylon. It is a spiritual state of people who focus more on their man-made religious buildings rather than obeying God and His ways. Under the gloss of the traditions of man are an oppressed people who are battered, tired, mentally and emotionally drained and imprisoned by those who exploit people for their own financial gain.
Scripture reveals some insight into the spiritual reality of events that took place in Scripture when Judah was taken captive and imprisoned by their Babylonian enemies as a result of breaking the covenant that they had made with God (Exodus 19:8).
And all the army of the Chaldeans, who were with the captain of the guard, broke down the walls around Jerusalem. And the rest of the people who were left in the city and the deserters who had deserted to the king of Babylon, together with the rest of the multitude, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard CARRIED INTO EXILE. – 2 Kings 25:10-11
In similar manner, when we choose to disobey God and His commands and do not repent, our hearts will harden and we will be drawn into spiritual captivity. Judah is an example of a people that God allowed to be taken captive for their disobedience. Their hard hearts were a result of refusing to come under the authority of God. This is prevalent today within Christianity where man's ways have taken precedence.
When we come under the authority of God and allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives, we will be protected from the spiritual corruption that wants to lead us into bondage.
Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.” – Job 1:10-11
Many have been led into captivity, but God is calling those to come out. He will show us are carnal ways and reveal the true nature of our hearts and bring us to repentance.
The question is why would God allow His people to be held in captivity in a state of confusion?
Behold, the days are coming, when all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have stored up till this day, shall be carried to Babylon. Nothing shall be left, says the LORD. – Isaiah 39:6
There are many who take part in the traditions of the institutional church system who are in a state of confusion. They look to man’s ways of attaining salvation. Their focus is on the things of the world instead of God. This is the equivalent to what happened to Judah.
Moreover, I will give all the wealth of the city, all its gains, all its prized belongings, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah into the hand of their enemies, who shall plunder them and seize them and carry them to Babylon. – Jeremiah 20:5
The glory of God cannot manifest in our lives when we are bound in spiritual Babylon.
The process of being set free will bring persecution from those who choose to remain in bondage. There is battle against the religious self-righteous as we walk in repentance out of the darkness into the light of abiding in God's word.
Your words are a lamp for my foot, and light for my path. - Psalm 119:105
The key to fighting the fight and being victorious is allowing the Holy Spirit to convict us and let God deal with the carnal intentions of our hearts.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and when it is sick, who will recognize it? I, the Lord, search the heart, test the kidneys, to give everyone according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds. - Jeremiah 17:9-10
God does not work through the self-righteous because their supposed righteousness is filthy rags. We must walk in faith in obedience to the truth that will set us free so that we will become pleasing in the sight of God.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge – Hosea 4:6
God allows us to go through hard situations because He wants to purge something that is in us to bring us to repentance and into freedom. He may also be testing us to see whether we will remain loyal to Him. We must allow God cast away any baggage that we carry from spiritual Babylonian because it will only lead to confusion and double-mindedness that is the manifestation of being in captivity.
Imprisonment or Release
There are many who are held captive in spiritual Babylon. Some have been there most of their lives. Unfortunately, they will remain there and never come to the knowledge of the truth because they have refused God’s calling to repent of their idolatry. Willful ignorance is a life sentence in captivity. The refusal of knowledge and the call to repentance is the same as being bound in chains.
Will you allow God’s to lead you out of captivity into His peace?
May the LORD give strength to his people! May the LORD bless his people with peace! – Psalm 29:11
Today, many fear man more than God. Human tradition takes precedence, but it will never bring true peace and happiness. Self-help programs will always come at a price of throwing out faith in God for man's remedies. Respect for God and His standards are sidelined for man-made doctrines.
When people surrender their minds and emotions to the direction of ecclesiastical men, they will become captive to them. They will gloss their eyes over from seeing the truth. This manifests into the utter denial of truth, confusion, insecurity, delusion, unbelief and double-mindedness just to name few. These symptoms are a result of coming under the control of the spiritual Babylonian authorities instead of the authority of God.
Many blame God for their situation, but it is one of their our own making. The pride of not taking ownership for their actions and behaviours will not lead them out of captivity. It is only through humility and repentance that there will be release.
When we allow God's truth to slay our carnal man, we will wake up out of our spiritual blindness. If we don’t come out, we will be left to the confusion of spiritual Babylon and share in her confusion.
Come, let us descend and confuse their language, so that one will not understand the language of his companion." - Genesis 11:7
Then they shall know that I am the LORD their God, because I sent them into exile among the nations and then assembled them into their own land. I will leave none of them remaining among the nations anymore. – Ezekiel 39:28
Escaping from spiritual Babylon is allowing God rescue us and allowing Him to lead the way. The only way ancient Israel could escape captivity was by God rescuing them and leading the way. Unless we repent, it will be futile in trying to leave captivity into freedom. The only way out is focusing on God and allowing Him to perform the work of salvation within us.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He causes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. - Psalm 23:1-3
And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. – Exodus 14:13
Come out enslavement cures those who are spiritually deaf and blind that brings peace and a sound mind.
True freedom in God is seeing with greater perception of reality through spiritual eyes. The carnal mind is never at peace because it is shackled to the ways of the world. The things of God are the everlasting purposes of His plan for us.
Repentance and Warning
Ask God to give you spiritual eyes and ears to see the truth about spiritual Babylon that is wrapped in the organized religions of the world. God is going to test our faith with trials to bring us into His righteousness. It is only through repentance that we can attain the knowledge of truth and understanding God’s plan.
The hype and gimmicks in Christianity is a plague that runs rampant in spiritual Babylon. The disease that causes reprobate minds and only God is the cure.
It is time to fear God and heed His word or we will face the consequences.
Seeing things through lens of man's doctrines is like worshiping God with a golden calf. It is idolatry.
Idolatry (Let Us Build)
Spiritual Babylon puts man as God. They will say, “Let us build and make a name for ourselves.” They try to attain salvation through human effort. The church system is just like ancient Israel who adopted the pagan practices of the world. The result of their rebellion was being led into bondage.
True believers must understand that they do not represent a building, business, corporation, or charity. God will never expand on noble human effort and methodologies because they are endeavours of selfish ambition.
We need to repent of our partaking of ministries that are motivated by mammon.
Spiritual Babylon is man's way of doing things to attain God.
“Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their hearts, and set the stumbling block of their iniquity before their faces. – Ezekiel 14:3
Many do not fully understand the consequences of their idolatry. Behind the religious facade a those who are oppressed, depressed and discouraged. Spiritual manipulation runs rampant as a means of control. The confusion and division of religious denominations are God’s judgement on those who remain in spiritual Babylon.
Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another’s speech.” So the LORD dispersed them from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city. – Genesis 11:7-8
God’s judgement is still operating today.
Will you have eyes to see and ears to hear the call of God to come out of your captivity?
- True Prophet vs. False Profit
There are prophets among us who are called by God to speak truth and there are others who speak deception. How are we able to discern one from the other?
- The Merchandising of Christianity
The sad fact is that most Christians are religious retail customers of a ministry brand name. Their gospel message is a product for sale.

Thank-you for your confirming the process that you have gone through. I have been there too, but am glad that I heeded God's call to "come out of her." God is gracious enough to not leave us permanently there if we repent and reconcile back to Him. God Bless.

I have been to Babylon, not a pleasant experience, but a necessary one. Your article is insightful and truthful. The process you so thoroughly described was consistent with my experience
I hope those headed there will glean from your information.
