Christ Jesus Our Peace And Our Hope!

Colossians A Christ Centered Gospel

Colossians is a wonderful and exceptional book of the New Testament. Here Jesus Christ is brilliantly showcased as the Head of His Church. This marvelous book is magnificently written by the Apostle Paul. God's Word is utterly amazing. What is so interesting is Paul did not personally visit the Church in Colossae. It was actually founded or should I say planted by Epaphras who served as a Minister. Paul had planted the seeds in Ephesus and it spread to Colossae at this time. Paul was a prisoner under house arrest. Epaphras came to know the Lord under Paul’s powerful ministry. The Key verses in Colossians are: “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him who is the Head of ALL principality and power.”

Where is Colossae

Colossae is actually west of what we know as modern day Turkey. Colossae was located in the Roman province of Asia and was a city in Phrygia. History teaches us that there was evidently many earthquakes in this area. It was known for its figs, olives and purple dyes. Many people traveled through Colossae on their way going to Greece. There were many Gentiles in the Church here. Many Greeks actually settled here in Colossae. There were also Romans as well as a diversity of many others people and cultures. A plethora of false doctrines were being introduced here. Many had an erroneous view of who Christ Jesus was and is. Therefore it was a great need for the Church to be established here.

Colossians is known as one of the iniquitous (4) four Prison Epistles. Jesus dying on the cross provided a way back to God’s original intended relationship with man. If you ever want to find out more of the infinite wisdom and Supremacy of Christ look no further, it’s all in the Bible. Jesus Christ is without blemish, flawlessly complete and infinitely knowledgeable in all matter pertaining to life and godliness. All the treasures of wisdom are in Him; in Him the fullness of the Godhead dwells in bodily form! There is no other God besides Him! I AM the LORD, and there is NO other; there is NO other GOD besides ME. I WILL gird you, though you have not known Me, That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting that there is NONE besides Me. I AM the LORD, an there is NO other; I form the Light and ...” Isaiah 45.

The Apostle Paul gives an outstanding account of Christ Jesus being the Head of His Church. He is adamant and transparent in his descriptive narrative of Christ Jesus while adorned in His human form. Colossians has a wealth of insight and demonstrates Paul’s perseverance while imprisoned for his preaching the Gospel continues on.

This wonderful Book discusses the significant importance of knowing the preeminence of Jesus Christ and the value of His plan of Salvation. There is much spiritual wisdom in the Word of God. The Word is Logos which means Word! Being the principles of God and His Divine order. Christ Jesus is the Word of God. Paul informs and encourages the readers to gain a deeper understanding and insight of who Jesus Christ is and His Supremacy. Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man. “I AM the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, who IS and who WAS and who IS to come the Almighty” Revelation 1. He is the firstborn of ALL creation! Our Peace and our Glorious Hope.

Jesus Christ is the Captain of our Salvation; For it was fitting for Him, for whom are ALL things and by whom are ALL things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the Captain of Salvation perfect through sufferings. For He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one…” Hebrew 2. As believers, we have received a wonderful inheritance through Jesus Christ. Our inheritance is secure in the heavenly realm of TRUTH and purity where God dwells. God’s plan of Salvation is a wonderful gift to us. Jesus Christ suffered greatly in the flesh for us because of His great Love for us. We as are encouraged to daily live in a way that pleases God!

The Apostle Paul was appointed and called by GOD to preach, proclaim and teach and daily " LIVE out LOUD" THE GOSPEL.

Epaphras makes the journey to Rome to visit Paul with his genuine concerns. Epaphras shares his apprehensions with Paul since there has been an uprising of vehement heresy. Yielding false doctrine and man induced philosophy mixed with religion designed to entice both believers and non believers. Which the Book of Colossians refutes! While Epaphras remains consulting with Paul, he sends the powerful Colossian letter to the Church by Tychicus accompanied by Onesimus. (Please see my earlier article on Philemon)

Listen closely to what Paul says: “Therefore as God’s chosen people. Holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the LORD forgave you. And over all these virtues put on LOVE, which binds them all together in PERFECT unity. Let the PEACE of CHRIST rule in your hearts, since as members of ONE body you were called to PEACE. And be thankful. Let the WORD of Christ Jesus dwell in you richly as you Teach and Admonish one another with ALL Wisdom, and as you Sing Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs with gratitude in your hearts to GOD. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, Do it in the name of the LORD JESUS. Giving thanks to GOD the Father through Him…” Colossians 3

The Apostle Paul has a marvelous astute style in preaching, teaching, correcting & encouraging.

Paul’s letter prolifically describes as well in amazing detail the Awesome undisputable Attributes of Jesus Christ! “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over ALL creation. For by Him all things were created that are visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before All things. And in Him all things consist, And He is the HEAD of the body, the Church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in ALL things He may have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in Him ALL the fullness should dwell and by Him to reconcile ALL things to Himself, by Him whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made Peace through the Blood of His Cross Colossians 1. This is a powerful passage of Scripture and when digested slowly one can attain the True knowledge of just how magnificent Jesus Christ is! Your spiritual discernment will also increase. It also confirms what was stated earlier in Hebrews. He is the first to be resurrected to never die again of all that will be raised from the dead. Jesus Christ is Supreme & Divine!

Paul stresses the deity of Jesus Christ in Colossians. Discernment is key. This is how we better detect and recognize the things and wisdom of God. It is very important to know the Word of God for yourself, so you will not be easily led astray by the false teachings of anyone or legalism. James tells us if we lack or want more wisdom; "Ask of GOD!" Our final destination of heaven is sure in Jesus Christ as believers. This is not without consequence nor persecution from within and without His Church. Today as well, once you really begin to grasp the enormity of this TRUTH to be so you can expect “spiritual warfare" to arise in and around your life!

Our SOVEREIGN LORD is KING of Kings and LORD of Lords! HE IS THE OMNISCIENT, OMNIPRESENT, OMNIPOTENT GOD! ABOVE HIM there is NO other. It is important to KNOW that satan cannot even hold a candle to GOD nor is he a king, he and his imps live to rule darkness and reek havoc within the lives of others. Yet; only for a season... There is and will be VICTORY in CHRST JESUS!

We as believers receive ETERNAL LIFE through Jesus Christ. HIS HOLY SPIRIT is HIS COMFORTER that can lead us to ALL TRUTH. Our Faith in the LORD allows us to access HIS POWER for righteous living. PRAYER IS ESSENTIAL in the lives of ALL believers. HIS WORD is necessary Spiritual Food for our mind, body & souls.

Paul’s life was dedicated to proclaiming the GOOD NEWS of JESUS CHRIST! We need to constantly consult with the Lord for direction. Devoting ourselves to prayer. “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ…” Daily we need to pray and ask for the infilling, indwelling presence of His Holy Spirit to assist us in navigating through this maze of life. Keep in mind that Jesus was grossly mistreated. Many landmines, man induced manipulations and detours have been orchestrated to derail us from the Narrow Path that leads to God! This is what was also happening when Paul wrote Colossians. This spirit filled inspired epistle written to the Church continues to enlighten the mind and soul with wonderful exhilarating timeless Truths!

Colossians is such a marvelous epistle. I suggest you read it over and over. There is so much here. Each time as you digest and embrace its contents the Lord will reveal even more to you. It is so very important to KNOW GOD & HIS WORD for yourself!

As a minister of God the Apostle Paul with great intensity fervently proclaims the authorship and spiritual benefits of our Christian legacy in Colossians. Colossians has (4) four wonderful chapters. In them he writes because he no longer wants the mysteries of the Church to be hidden and shares that God wants this to be revealed to His saints. “To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the GLORY of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY. HIM we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in ALL wisdom, that we may present every man PERFECT in CHRIST JESUS!”

Becoming "PERFECT" in the LORD!

How often do we hear someone say “Nobody’s Perfect?” Through Jesus Christ we are made perfect. Not because of who we are, but because of who He is. He says; "Be ye therefore perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect." Matthew 5 He would not tell us to do something that is not possible. For He has imputed His righteousness to us. This is not meant to infer the right-a-way to presumed arrogance. The perfection the Bible speaks to us about does not mean flawlessness but being COMPLETE in HIM! You can be completely confident in who you are in CHRIST JESUS! The mystery revealed here in Colossians is; "Christ in You the Hope of Glory!" The indwelling presence of His Holy Spirit; His Comforter is our precious gift that He bestows upon us as believers!

Give someone the gift of knowing Jesus through you... Embrace and daily live out the truth of His Word. I recommend that you read the Book of Colossians over and over. It will humble and inspire you. For next to Christ Jesus we all fall short of the Glory of God. Yet He loved us so much that He allows us to become Temples of clay where His precious Holy Spirit abides. Each time you will discover wonderful spiritual food for your mind, body & soul. For it has a wealth of Spiritual Wisdom. Jesus Christ truly is is the reason for every season throughout the year. He is the Ultimate Savior; the marvelous precious Lamb of God. In Him you can discover everything that you will ever need for life, daily living and eternal life. There is no better gift.

The WORD of GOD cleanses and washes us from the inside out! ''THANK YOU HALLLELLLUJAH!!!" Therefore, we are to celebrate our life in God through Christ Jesus and who we are becoming in the Lord. Be thankful & daily bless, praise, adore, exalt & worship His Holy Name. Always remember that GOD'S HOLY SPIRIT HIS COMFORTER is our indwelling internal teacher that leads us to all TRUTH!

In CHRIST JESUS you can truly discover everything that you will ever need for life, daily living and eternal life!

Live daily allowing the Word of God to dwell within you. Spend time with the Lord reading and embracing in HIS WORD. Seek the WILL & WAY of GOD above all. For there is nothing more valuable than the Word of God! "Draw nigh to GOD and He will draw nigh to you."

We are to: "Let the WORD of GOD dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the LORD. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the LORD JESUS, giving thanks to GOD and the FATHER by HIM." Colossians 3

Our life long quest as believers is to discover the great inheritance given by our heavenly Father which is his precious son Jesus Christ. I love how Paul masterfully shares this truth. Paul truly understood the connection between the vine and the branches. As the branches receive their nutrients from the vine, Paul received his completeness from Jesus Christ. May the Lord ignite in us the fire of diligence (steadfast application) and direct our eyes to the author of our salvation who is Jesus Christ the Hope of Glory!! Thank you Sister Deborah for edifying my heart and mind through his precious Word.

Kimberly Bunch, Colossians is a wonderful Book that expresses God's plan for man and the need for Jesus Christ and His plan of Salvation!

Many never actually take the time to read the Word of God for themselves. It is important to know first hand what the Word says since there are so many misconceptions to what the TRUTH really is... Colossians is a wonderful exciting book that is full of spiritual wisdom and insight! I do hope you read it in its entirety! The TRUTH really does POWERFULLY speaks for itself! Thank You for visiting and sharing your comments. Please do come again, Blessings!

Kimberly Bunch from EAST WENATCHEE on December 16, 2009:

Hi DeBorrah K. Ogans.

Well I came and I read your Colssians like you asked me to. I am glad you have found your heart center.:)

It doesn't really matter (in my opinion) what religion you are as long as it leads to the Most High God, the creator of the universe -- the Divine Being. It's really about "God". Take away all the vicious hate and judgments that have brought wars to this planet because of religion. Instead we may focus on the underline teaching that bleeds through the judgments.

It's never good to teach a given people that they will go to hell if they are this way or that way, or if they have spiritual gifts that they have the devil in them, ec cetera.

All that just creates spirits from going through the light because they fear what will happen to them. It's a sad thing when there are so many spirits that decide not to go into the light. They are referred to as ghosts here on earth.

Times are changing and spirituality will dominate our future lives on this planet... and elsewhere in the solar system. Spirituality and religion are two different things. Religion is easy --spirituality is a harder path to be on -- (only my sincere opinion).

We are all her incarnated learning and living in order to enhance our souls growth. We may choose which path opens our heart to the divine creator. Remembering to love and respect all living things is a gift of the heart.

Thank you for sharing with me your Colossians.

Kim :)

Rev Lady, Colossians really is wonderful! It is one of my personal favorite Epistles! When embraced it really gives you a real TRUE sense of "Security and Significance" through Jesus Christ! If many others could just grasp what Paul is saying here!! Life would take on a whole new meaning for them! GOD is AWESOME!!!

Knowing Jesus personally makes ALL the difference in the world! The people and the situations in the Bible are real! God really does have wonderful viable solutions for life! Sometimes we have to understand when no one else does. But you can be sure that GOD does! But rest assured "God Will take are of you" The most important Gift we will ever have> " Is CHRIST in You THE HOPE of GLORY" PRAISE GOD!!!

"Stir up the GIFT" Thank you for sharing, Love & Blessings!

great writing D.

Getting to KNOW Holy Spirit in his unique encounter with each of us individually is key.

We may know he is in us, but what do we know of HIM and the ALL he carries of the fullness of Christ to make us more like Christ.

Col.2.2,3... "that you may KNOW the MYSTERY of God namely Christ, in whom are HIDDEN ALL the TREASURES of Wisdom and Knowledge.

There are things hidden for us to go after and find and not remain contented with surface living. Holy Spirit in us has the treasure map into the heart of God where we find riches of Christ! WOW, God is awesome.
